Carrie and Midwestern Wood Products walked me through the process from start to finish. This was my first custom ceiling and I could not be happier with my experience. The product was top-notch and everything fit perfectly. This was not a typical project for us, but I am looking forward to selling customers in the future on this type of ceiling and hope to work with Carrie and her team in the future.

We purchased coffered ceiling from Midwestern Wood for our remodeled Bathroom. We sent the measurements and sample of the color we wanted to match. This was not a simple rectangular room because there was a free form shower in the corner. The company worked with us until everyone was satisfied that it was doable. It turned out better than expected. They did an excellent job engineering the ceiling including all the irregular angles and the color match was spot on. Great company to work with and beautiful product.

I am very pleased with my purchased of the wood grid ceiling system from Midwestern Wood Products Co. This was a perfect selection for the ceiling area above our pool and shuffleboard tables. The product and workmanship was of exceptional quality and was the perfect choice to complement the adjoining wine cellar, wine bar area and family room area constructed in our basement. The panels and grid system were cut to fit perfectly inside my drop ceiling area and the instructions were easy to follow. Carrie Schmidt of Midwestern wood Products was very helpful in follow up and answering of all my question. I would recommend Midwestern Wood Products highly.

I was building a bar in my basement and needed a drop ceiling to access my upstairs plumbing and ventilation. The coffered ceiling adds a whole new look. Midwestern Wood Products were very helpful and did everything as promised. They were able to match the color of my cabinets perfectly.
Fantastic company!
P.S. Pretty simple to install.

Home Library in NC
When I was building my home, I wanted a coffered ceiling for my library. I visited a neighboring house, farther along in construction, and talked to the millwork people who had spent weeks on a coffered ceiling, and still didn't have it finished. I looked online, and chose Midwestern for my project, despite never having heard of them previously. Really lucked out on that call. I sent them a finished cabinet door from the Rutt Amish cabinetry that was going into that room. They found a knotty pine that was a great match to the wood from Pennsylvania and exactly duplicated the desired finish. What was really cool was that it went up in less than a day with a great fit...and looked much better than the neighbors time-intensive effort! Was extremely pleased with the result!

We've used Midwestern Wood Products materials in both residential and commercial settings. On the residential side, over the years, we've gotten hardwood floors, paneled walls, baseboard, applied mouldings, casing, and crown moulding. We even had them make us a custom entertainment center. Most recently, I had them come up with a way to tie my window walls, fire place, and bookshelves together. It's coming out spectacularly, and I'll post pictures once it's done. On the commercial side, we have had them provide the trim and casing for three facilities, as well as the materials for our retail counters.
These people do amazing work, and every time you walk into their shop, it seems like they've managed to come up with something new, that's even better than the beautiful stuff they had before. I referenced my most recent project above. I bought a house with poor woodwork in it, and my family room had difficult dimensions to work with. I sent them pictures and measurements, and in no time, I had a proposal that blew me away. Once I put my order, I received everything, pre-cut and labeled, and I'm putting it together like a jigsaw puzzle. It's amazing.
I've attached some pictures that I have. The first, is the drawing that they provided me with. The second, is what my room originally looked like, and the rest show how this turned out.

I was very pleased with the quality of the carpentry and the professional factory stain. I needed and received plenty of help in deciding on the best product and installing. Carrie is very detailed oriented and works very hard to ensure that all measurements are proper; this can take some time but I'm sure it is the best course to avoid re-work in the field. Great product and great professionalism at every turn.
Installation is a learning curve--the first piece may take a half-day to install but then you may complete a couple/few hundred sq ft in a day once you get the system down. Your installer should be smart and up for problem solving to get through the learning curve, but very little actual carpentry is involved in the install. You really don't need a carpenter as much as a problem-solving "jack of all trades" type installer. Read and re-read the directions--the answers are there.
My job was about 900 sq ft and was applied to a flat ceiling. I used the deep coffers in a light cherry and am thrilled with both.
The only thing I'd do differently in my order would be to specify all/only long sections of wall angle--I received a mix of lengths including several 4' sections and I didn't have enough long sections to complete the project without having to use some short sections (less than 1') to complete a wall.

We installed a complete coffered ceiling with a large circular coffer in the center of the ceiling, a full room wainscoting system, a special treatment beneath a soffit that ran the long width of the room, and all door casements including a curved arch using all Midwestern Red Oak machined products, save for some flat stock purchased locally. The coffered ceiling and casements were all Midwestern products, while the wainscoting and soffit treatment were a combination of Midwestern machined Red Oak and local red oak stock. Throughout the entire planning and execution process Carrie (Midwestern contact) provided timely drawings and advice and, enabled many product shipments. Our remodeling project was originally just a coffered ceiling, but grew as we came to appreciate Carrie's knowledge, pleasantness and flexibility and, the excellent quality of service and products we received from Midwestern.
