Monarch Plank

Terrible communication and customer service. My rep said they were going out of business. Would not recommend. Very disappointing and there are so many other options.

Please note we are a homeowner who recently chose Monarch Maple Select for a 1300 sq ft floor install in our single family home We are ETREMELY DISAPPOINTED in the visual quality of this Monarch product as it is: 1) Covered with ugly black knots 2) Covered with black marks (similar to made wide-tip sharper marker), often 3 or 4 marks per plank 3) Has such a VERY WIDE range of color tones so contrast between plank color tones does NOT look good unless you sort out bad-toned plankes 4) Urethane coating on this wood is too thin. 5) Some planks (5% or 10%) are bowed / warped too much to use The Monarch Maple "Select" product was such poor visual quality that we had to sort 2000 sq ft to yield 1300 sq ft of good wood for our home! We do acknowledge the floor does look good - once you sort and throw away the approx 40% of wood that has the poor visual quality. We are so disappointed, I would never buy a Monarch wood product again LESSONS LEARNED: never choose an engineered wood product from any vendor until you have purchased several random BOXES containing their product and spread them out (uninstalled) onto your floor so you can see the visual quality and range of wood tones. NEVER trust the sample display of engineered wood that your floor installer may have in their showroom since those samples are highly filtered/selected planks that DO NOT represent what the wood manufacturer actually sells Steve in Bay Area CA

Sample didnt match product received and fill looked awful! Fill is not color matched. If you buy Character grade floor be aware that this means they can send you planks with big split down the middle and fill it with putty that doesn't look good or natural. We purchased 400+ square ft after taking the large sample board home (which had not knots, fill checks, so no way to see of know that that they do t color match their fill! No one explained what to expect. We unpacked the boxes with the installed keen to see the new floor only to see that almost every board had some fill, many big and obvious is a cool gray color that looked very odd with the surprising wood color. They offered to take back the unopened boxes and now am stuck with thousands of dollars worth of wood, two days of contractor time prepping and a floor I wouldn't dream of installing in our home. Make sure you see a representative sample - order a box to see a realistic sample…or go elsewhere.

If there were zero stars I would give them that rating. Quality Control is terrible. Recently I had approx 1100 sq of their wood installed on my second story floor and set of stairs. Generally speaking the flooring parts were fine with the exception of a number of planks that weren’t fully stained (this wasn’t noticed till after glue down was done) at this price point that is unacceptable. The color swings from plank to plank were pretty extreme in my opinion but some might believe that is subjective. Most important though was the over 200 dollars per stair nose were complete junk. After installing them there was a difference in the height of the nose and the plank it was attached to. This creates a really odd feeling while walking over it and also makes for odd shadows when walking down the stairs even when not lit. We were told that this is within standard acceptable limits (insanity). As if this wasn’t bad enough when we finally got some replacement pieces in to fix the issue, they were so warped that there wasn’t a chance that they would even install as the tongue and groove wouldn’t fit flush. If you are looking for a high quality product look elsewhere.

We recently remodeled our home in Portland, OR. Monarch Plank's service was wonderful. They worked with my flooring contractor to assure he had all the information necessary to achieve a perfect installation. They offer a breadth of European Style Hardwood Flooring. We love our European oak floor. It is certainly an eye catcher when entering our home. Thanks!

I am a specialty wood flooring supplier (Avant Garde Wood Floors) offering custom and semi custom hardwood all over the country. Monarch Plank is one of the best products I have worked with. Both unfinished and prefinished material is premium quality and is a very trendy color line. Service and expertise is top knotch. I have done at least 7-10 high end custom jobs from 2500sf up to 5700sf and the projects have finished out very nicely. The installers tell me it installs like a dream. We have placed these floors in very arid climates and over radiant heat and still had no issues with product performance. I do recommend Monarch highly. Homeowners and builders are not able to buy direct from the mill, but as a wholesaler of this product I am able to quote builders or installers on the material direct.

Monarch Plank is a great company and has a beautiful range of flooring. They have an amazing range of styles and colors which really allows you to make very refined choices based on your project.

Monarch Plank's work is impeccable. I have worked with both Monarch and Galleher. Milled right here in CA. Beautiful wood products and professional staff. Will definitely recommend !
