We hired Russel from 1st Choice Cabinetry to do a complete kitchen and bathroom remodel. We shopped three companies and felt that 1st Choice gave the best value. While they weren't the cheapest, we felt we were getting more for our money. Russel worked with us every step of the way, helping us to choose materials and colors. When they were ready to start, he provided a detailed calendar showing who would be at the house on what day. While there were small deviations, the schedule was pretty much dead on. The subs he used were outstanding. Very professional and friendly. We were extremely happy with the results and have recommended 1st Choice to friends. It was a major investment for us and we couldn't be happier.

We learned of 1st Choice at a local home show and made an appointment to meet with Mae. She listened to our goals, pulled sample materials, and then drew up a plan. There was no pressure to commit, but we decided to go ahead. Mae calendered the whole project very efficiently and there were very few deviations from the schedule. When a mishap took place (new floor gauged by installers), it was corrected in just a matter of days. I love my two new bathrooms!

All subs showed up on time and were respectful and easy to work with. The remodel of one of our bathrooms went smoothly without any major hiccups mainly due to my direct contact with Mae. She listened to my budget parameters and never tried to push me into spending more on something that wasn't necessary. Every step of the process was communicated very well from weekly emails telling me what days and times contractors would arrive to the overall monthly calendar layout. When Russell or his contractors said they would be at the house at such-and-such time, they were always on time or otherwise communicated any changes ahead of time. I actually came across 1st Choice by chance: We had already had a couple of bids and felt OK about our options but wanted one more. I noticed their store front on Five Mile and decided to give them a try. I went to their website, filled out their inquiry form and included a description, sketches, and photos of what we were looking for. Russell replied the next day and was willing to put together a quote for us by the end of the week. His quote was competitively priced and matched exactly what we had wanted and described. We set up an in-person appointment to to go over details and were instantly impressed by Russell's extensive experience, clear explanations, and helpful suggestions. We decided on 1st Choice and consider ourselves so lucky to have found such a great professional for our kitchen remodel. The project schedule was followed to the T and finished on the day it was originally scheduled to finish--the week before Thanksgiving (Thanks Russell!). We have been enjoying our new kitchen the last two weeks and everyday comment how pleased we are with the results.

Our designer Mae was awesome. She work with us to chose the right cabinets, countertops, tile backsplash & options for our needs. Once we sighed, within a week she emailed us a schedule of install dates. The dates never changed and everything came together on those dates. After my experience with 1st Choice I have a hard time believing all the 5 star reviews. I decided to use 1st Choice for a relatively small project. I knew that not dealing directly with a true custom cabinet maker and stone dealer would add additional cost to my project, but I thought that the convenience of allowing 1st Choice to deal with the details of the project would be worth the cost. I WAS WRONG. I made the mistake, and it was all me, by not checking every measurement prior to signing the contract. Thank goodness my contractor did! He saved me from a design flaw that was not shown in the diagram, but was there in what would have been ordered and installed. I was informed 3 days prior to INSTALLATION that my counter tops were just not going to be available, the bathroom countertops were 2 weeks late. Incorrect information was given to me regarding the sink size for my bathroom, they wanted me to pay for adjustments to the accommodate the already purchased sink. The faucet that was purchased for the sink could not be used as intended due to the way the countertop was cut. Appointments for countertop service/installation were never kept as scheduled. Communication with 1St Choice was not direct or clear. The countertop installers were not professional and certainly not fine craftspeople. I had to insist on the removal of white caulk that clearly did not match the countertop and truly had to fight to have the appropriate color applied and now, must have the wall repaired as a result of their removal and new application of caulk. As a result of using 1st Choice I was subject to cost overruns, scheduling delays and overall great inconvenience that resulted in my having to invest far more of my time and energy than if I had done it all myself. I understand that the pandemic created unexpected challenges. I faced this fact on many fronts and appreciated when I was kept updated and felt supported by those with whom I was dealing. That simply did not happen with 1st Choice and I will quote Russell, 'Well, stuff happens on every job. You just can't make everyone happy." I have completed 8 whole home remodels, although never in Boise and never with this kind of result. In my opinion these folks are not designers, cannot be trusted with handling details, are just a go-between for countertops and are not, in any way custom cabinet makers. As the job was coming to a close, but not completed I received two emails and an in-person request for payment of the balance due. I was never asked if I was satisfied with the job, which clearly I was not. I wrote the owners a detailed letter of my experience and received no reply. My advice to anyone considering 1st Choice is to do a little homework. I think you'll find dealing direct with true cabinet makers and stone suppliers that it is not only less expensive, provide a much wider selection and, in my experience, provide a much better experience than 1St Choice Cabinetry Inc.

First Choice Cabinetry remodeled our kitchen and installed all new floors on one level of our home. They were clear on timelines and schedule expectations and stayed on task. Any questions we had we answered clearly and professionally. The subcontractors they utilized for work were all professional and courteous when working in our home. When creating our kitchen design, Russ listened to the ideas we had and facilitated incorporating them in the design. We couldn't be more pleased with how our remodel finished up. The floors are gorgeous and we love our new kitchen.

I am pleased to have the opportunity to share how pleased I am with my renivation. It was an amazing positive experience from start to finish. Not knowing totally what I wanted or options available Russell guided me through the whole process and the finished outcome is everything I could want. He presented a time line and schedule which was followed precisely. The subcontractors were on time, cleaned up after themselves nightly, they were helpful when I had questions and there was no "mansplaining" at all. Bottom line - I'd do it again in a heart beat.

The Fogles and staff run their business refreshingly different from what appears to be the current sad customer service norm. They are well organized with awesome communications from the initial decision making to coordination with subcontractors and our schedule to providing us with product maintenance information. (Who does that?) Our bathroom looks great!

After talking to multiple cabinet companies, we were extremely impressed with 1st Choice Cabinetry, especially Russell and Lori. Their prices were competitive and their quality of their cabinets is much higher than anything we'd seen. We had an idea of what we wanted but didn't have an exact plan and they were able to create something that was exactly what we wanted. They installed cabinets, countertops, and a backsplash. The installers were prompt, professional, and very detail oriented. We chose to demo our kitchen, redo some electrical work, etc. and Russell gave us so many great recommendations and advice throughout the whole process. Would 100% recommend them for any remodel work and will definitely use them in the future! We love our new kitchen!

I volunteer working for Habitat for Humanity. 1st Choice Cabinetry partners with Habitat so I had a chance to see their cabinetry and see what their company was all about. I was impressed and decided to use them to build and install the cabinets for our own home. All I can say is WOW! 1st Choice Cabinetry was recommended to me by a highly recommended Electrician I had do work for me. I was told the company is very committed to doing a job right and work on a schedule that they really stand by. I am new to Boise and just purchased a 1921 Craftsman Bungalow, which needs to be dealt with gently with tender love and care due to the age of the home and the materials it was constructed with. My meeting with Russell was great! He took time to work with me and listen to my wants and desires and gave me his ideas also. He educated me on what works best in old homes, such as the walls, the plumbing that is located on exterior walls, the house being not being level, etc. I was impressed with the short amount of time it took to get a proposal and the dollar amount and a schedule. 1st Choice uses only the best contractors! Everyone who came to work on the job was on time, professional and a perfectionist. Russell always contacted me to inform me when a worker was coming. They all took the time to explain what was happening and why. Russell came by almost everyday to make sure things were on track. He, himself, would do some of the work to make sure things were moving forward. Russell was great about letting me know price changes when I wanted to upgrade or change something we had agreed on earlier. Russell was quick to return phone calls, text messages and emails within a day. I had my kitchen almost completely gutted and the 5 layers of floor removed down to the sub floor! I had new cabinets installed, new flooring, new electrical and plumbing, paint and the ceiling was leveled and bead board was installed to correct the unevenness of the old ceiling. I also had the crown molding restored to most of my windows, a beautiful piece of granite placed on top of the ugly gray cement hearth of my fireplace, and hardwood flooring repaired in the living room, crown molding added to the living room and a very large cabinet in my bathroom removed and walls patched. I am 100% happy with my new kitchen and all the other projects that 1st Choice Cabinetry has finished!!! I know it was done right from the demolition to the completion. My kitchen looks like it should be in a showroom!! Russell was very conscious about making sure his schedule was being followed. I still have a few projects left and I will be using 1st Choice Cabinetry for those also. If you are looking for a company who is professional, personable and strives for perfection then 1st Choice Cabinetry should be your FIRST CHOICE!!

We talked to a few contractors when we decided it was seriously time to have our kitchen remodeled. With each contractor we took into account the warranty of the cabinetry; the quality of the wood; the price; and the timeline to complete the remodel. Russell, of 1st Choice Cabinetry, fulfilled all of our needs. We were able to go into the showroom and choose our cabinets, counter tops, and sink. There were options to choose our appliances and flooring also. One becomes anxious when workers come into your home... We both feel the absolute best and hardest workers were chosen by 1st Choice to do the demo, the drywall, the electrical, the backsplash and the plumbing. Everyone was very friendly and worked - and worked constantly - always with a smile. We feel the quality of each contractor 1st Choice chose to complete this remodel correctly was of top quality. Russell kept in contact with us through each process, showing up often to ensure the work was done to our satisfaction -- and to his satisfaction. The schedule of each contractor's arrival and what they would be accomplishing was given to us at the start so we knew what to expect through this process. Russell was professional, helpful, and a pleasure to work with. He let us take the samples we were most interested in. He explained the differences in the respective flooring materials, he had nice recommendations. His installer arrived on-time and did the entire job (3 bathrooms, laundry room & kitchen and entry way) in two days. The installer gave us helpful information on moving items back into those areas and cleaned up after himself. We will use 1st Choice Cabinetry again !

We contracted with Russell and 1st Choice Cabinetry in October 2015 to refresh our dated kitchen. Amidst a sea of unprofessional contractors, Russell was always on time and followed through on every commitment he made. He took the few concepts we brought him and put together a custom rendering of our kitchen so we could actually see what we'd be getting. We wanted the "HGTV experience" and he was able to give it to us. Additionally, even though they only have Cabinetry in their name, 1st Choice also handled the quartz counter tops, tile backsplash, and coordinated the plumbing and electrical work. It was like working with a full service remodeler without the added cost. We're thrilled with the end result and would definitely do business with them again.

As first time clients in need of design ideas for flooring, countertops, cabinetry and tilework throughout a new construction home, we found Russell Fogle an invaluable source of information and inspiration. Russell took care of it all for us. He patiently helped us no matter how many changes we made. When the project actually started he provided us with a timeline and kept to it. The site was always cleaned up at the end of the day. Anytime we had questions Russell was prompt in getting back to us. The cabinets are built well and were installed with great care. The complete remodel turned out better than we imagined.
