Aztec Woodworking is a company located in San Diego, California and was born from my passion for high quality craftsmanship observed while living in Japan and working at the Mingei International Museum in Balboa Park. Since 2005 I have been working with materials of all kinds to build custom wood projects that are both beautiful and functional. It started in a woodworking course at SDSU that turned into a passion, and then blossomed into a career of crafting and creating beautiful furniture and interiors for clients to use and enjoy for a lifetime. Michael built a custom top for some of our kitchen cabinetry and the top for our kitchen island. The dimensions were perfect, the work flawless, and the price fair/reasonable. Michael, too, was extremely easy to work with, and everything was completed in the timeframe promised. For woodworking projects, Michael is my go-to guy.

Michael did an excellent job on the units we asked him to build around our fireplace and also up to the ceiling and also with some cabinets on the side (See photos below). He’s very detail oriented. He’s not rushing through the process and he’s focused on making sure that he gets the job done as he designed it at start. We also realized in the process that we had some faults from the previous contractors, and he took the time to correct those, even though we did not map them in his original plan. The main reason we chose him, and it proved to be worth it, was because of the detail oriented approach he had. In measuring, in work, in choosing material and design. We strongly recommend him for anybody who is interested in having an exquisite piece of work.

I contacted Michael, of Aztec Woodworking to talk about making a "custom" cabinet that I had in mind for a small toilet room and vessel sink installation. It needed to blend well with existing dated Mexican decor. Though a relatively small job, he gave me the time and attention needed to get the job done. He was a good listener and also worked with me to achieve the perfect wood stain color that matched other woodwork in my home. Mike Grant was very professional and fabricated my kitchen cabinets to my exact specifications. He kept in touch throughout the process and answered all my questions. He met all deadlines, was honest and had reasonable pricing. He also was able to deal with me ( a very picky person) without being annoyed, which was important to me. I would definitely use his services again and highly recommend his work.
