I found him after reading Houzz reviews, and after seeing the beautiful work on his website, I remember thinking, “wow, I wish I could have a designer-looking kitchen like those.” I am so glad I called him, because after our big house remodel, and working with so many different people, he is, hands down, one of the most pleasant, professional, and capable craftsmen we have encountered, and we are absolutely in love with our new kitchen. If you are looking for honesty, integrity, pride of work, can-do attitude, with the actions to follow through, and a project that finishes on time, Jim is your man! After my initial call with Jim, I had a very good impression of his capability and experience. He understood almost immediately what I was talking about, and had a lot of good suggestions for achieving what we wanted, and ways to keep costs within our budget (amazing!). His design process was efficient and well organized. He was always approachable and respectful, so we felt we could ask him any question along the design process, and his answers were always educational explanations. One of the best parts of working with Jim was that we were able to communicate with him easily - he was very responsive and got back to us in a timely manner, and if there were any anticipated issues, these were always communicated right away, and taken care of! Throughout the entire process, we could see that Jim wanted to complete the job, and do it well, so he kept everyone on track (including us), and he made sure everything was completed to the last detail, and that we were happy when the job was done. He takes pride in his work, and in providing excellent customer service. I loved my old 1936 laundry room cabinets, but because of toxic mold (a tree fell on my roof!) they had to go. I was worried the new cabinets wouldn't look right with the house. But Jim Gohrick of B & J changed my mind. I love my new Shaker cabinets more! Jim came out and spent time going over different cabinet styles, dimensions and practicality. He measured and remeasured. He kept in touch with me frequently, updating me on his process. It was all done very professionally and in a timely manner. Outside the cabinets are painted Chantilly Lace, but inside they are a beautiful light maple. The inside hinges are chrome and sturdy. Each cabinet has many spacers to adjust shelves according to my needs. Because my house is so old the walls are not exactly plum, but Jim made sure the crown mold looks level and the doors close properly. When Jim delivered the finished cabinets himself, I could see how proud he was. B & J is an experienced company that does first quality work. They listen, pay attention, and respond to any issues promptly. I highly recommend Jim and would use them again in a heartbeat.

This review is way overdue. I needed a custom cabinet built in my kitchen for extra storage and countertop space. I reached out to the company and spoke with Jim. From our first conversation and subsequent visit I felt that it would be a great fit. We discussed my needs and he came up with a proposal within a short time. He patiently answered all of my questions and practically held my hand through the entire process. The craftsmanship for the cabinet was near perfection. The installer, the painter and the countertop people were all so kind and professional. This piece of cabinetry became one of my best investments of all time. After ordering a new panel ready dishwasher to replace an older unit, B & J Custom Cabinets was contacted to build a custom door panel to match the existing custom cabinets in the kitchen. Jim and his team worked to duplicate the design and color of the existing cabinetry so that the new dishwasher door panel matched beautifully! Not only was it a perfect match, it was also completed well ahead of the anticipated time frame and installed prior to the holiday season! We used B&J Custom cabinets to create a new make up vanity for our bathroom that needed a specific narrow dimension. Jim was very pleasant over the phone when we discussed the project. He was able to give us price and after a down payment he came to measure the space. Shortly afterwards we got a detailed plan and went over final dimensions. The job took about 4 weeks to complete after which Jim brought the cabinet to our home with the installation instructions and related pieces to install. Overall the cabinet was made beautifully but we noticed that the trim detail wasn’t what we agreed to. Jim was in our area a day or two later and we showed him the edge detail that we wanted to match. After seeing it, he recalled that we did agree to a different edge and said that we could probably work out something. I worked with my general contractor to create a trim piece that could be added to shaker-style that B&J had created to give the front faces the effect we were looking for (luckily for us this was doable with some additional wood additions and didn’t require remaking the all the door and drawer fronts. I sent Jim the sample concepts we created and he agreed that his shop could fabricate those professionally. We returned the door/drawer fronts to the shop and in 2 days they were able to make the repairs - all professionally done and matching our pre-fab cabinets on the other side. Overall we’re very happy with the work from B&J and appreciated their customer service when things didn’t go as expected. They also sent us a nice thank you note after the project which is a great touch that they appreciate their customers (even for a small job as ours). We highly recommend them

We remodeled a kitchen, an office, two bathrooms and a laundry/walk-in pantry with them. Jim Gohrick, the owner, asked many important questions and was very involved throughout the process. He was super responsive and always willing to come onsite to discuss a design idea. He brought up ideas that we had not considered. These details made the difference between a good outcome and an excellent one. Jim is very pleasant to work with, which made a big project like ours less stressful.

I can't say enough good things about the B&J Custom Cabinet team! I recently had them make a new fireplace mantle for me, which turned out exactly as I'd hoped. Working with Jim was great! He was very knowledgeable and offered some excellent advice in the planning stages of the project that really made a difference in the overall look. Their price was reasonable and the mantle was completed quickly. This is not my first project with B&J and it won't be my last. I highly recommend them!

It’s very scary hiring blindly off the internet, but I got lucky with B & J Cabinets. I needed some cabinets to match some existing, original cabinets that I loved, and they did a fantastic job. I also wanted a pantry/broom closet and they made it exactly how I wanted. Actually, better! Can’t wait to get them painted and start using them!

33 years ago we remodeled our kitchen. 4 kids and 8 grandchildren later I still have not a had to have them fixed. No cracks or breakage. Outstanding craftsman.

Jim Gohrick and his team at B & J Cabinets did an incredible job. In addition to building and installing custom cabinets for our kitchen, they gave crucial advice and references we needed to get it all done. After everything was installed and painted, he continued to follow up and ensure we were completely satisfied. When I complained about a problem, he immediately drove over, inspected the problem, and got it addressed. While the pictures look great, what they won't tell you is all of the work they put in to ensure everything came out perfectly. From the very beginning of the project, Jim worked with us to design the layout of the kitchen. He helped us brainstorm on how to make the best use of our space and pick the shaker door style. In addition to the kitchen cabinets in the pictures, they built the cabinets for a walk in pantry. Jim & team did an amazing job on a set of custom cabinets for our home. We had lower cabinets + floating shelves made for our living room, a custom master bath vanity, and a few other cabinets/floating shelves created throughout the house. Jim was professional throughout the entire process, seamlessly working with our interior designer on design & plans, coming out all the way out to the other side of LA for site inspections/measurements, providing advice on cabinet height, depth, and design, and ensuring that installs went smoothly. The quality of our cabinets and shelves are incredible; definitely worth the additional spend to invest in a higher quality product that not only looks better than a pre-fab build, but also much more durable. For example, our living room cabinets are custom width and are perfectly symmetrical; whereas with a prefab build we would have some awkward spacing to deal with. Even with all of the supply chain issues and starting the project right around the Christmas holidays, the total time from design to install was much shorter than expected (~3 months, with some delays from our side!). I have used B&J Cabinets on a number of jobs as a General Contractor. I couldn't be happier with the whole process and the product. My client on the recent project we completed ( 2 Bathrooms, Linen Closet) ,was working with a decorator who was very detail oriented. When we moved into our house we found the B & J Cabinet sticker under a drawer. We needed some minor repair to some drawers. We took a chance and called the number only to find out they were still around. Jim (Owner) came out and took care of the issues. When the cabinet master (Skip) delivered the modified drawer back to us we were surprised to learn that one of the previous original owners of B & J lived in this house. We decided to remodel and add a laundry/mud room and full bath so we obviously called Jim to have the cabinets built to match our kitchen cabinets. B&J Custom Cabinets was the perfect fit for my custom kitchen remodel. A kitchen remodel is never easy, and older homes are never the perfect, straight wall and ceilings they once were when they were built. B&J was up for the challenge and was able to accommodate my specific criteria of shallow depth shakers, non-standard cabinet widths and depths, and undercabinet lighting for some open shelving. I'm an interior designer. I had a project for a client that was not large, but highly visible. It needed to be well done and custom. Many cabinet makers are turning down smaller jobs now as the demand for their time and skills is huge. Jim, however, returned my call right away and came out soon after to look at the project. The project was finished within the estimated time frame and on budget. Jim's communication was excellent. I was very happy when he contacted me with questions on fine tuning design and construction details rather than make a "best guess". The cabinets turned out beautifully. B & J made me a beautiful custom cabinet for my master bath. I needed a cabinet of an odd size that would precisely fit in a certain space. I also wanted it to have legs of a certain style. All painted white. B & J (Jim) hooked me up. They and their recommended painter installed the prepainted cabinet, then the painter came back and painted it again to finish! Just beautiful.

Jim and his team did an excellent job replacing our traditional style kitchen cabinet doors and drawers with beautiful Shaker style doors and drawer fronts. All the cabinetry was then painted a crisp white, which has really brightened up our kitchen. We love the results! He was great to work with - very committed to providing a quality product and experience for his customers and quick to respond to emails or texts. Nothing but a great experience with Jim at B&J Custom Cabinets. Jim came through for us during our master bath renovation. I'm sure he's used to much larger projects, but he built us a custom dual 110" long vanity for us exactly the way we wanted it. His communication is awesome. I basically sent him some pictures of what I was looking for in the vanity, and he managed to not only meet the expectations, but managed to leave his personal touch. He even managed to push our small project up in his schedule because he knew we were really hoping for a quick a turn around. Definitely look forward to working with him again.
