By combining professional service with true craftsmanship, Cadence Custom Cabinetry (Formerly Hughes Carpentry) creates beautiful and enduring remodel projects for homeowners in northeastern Illinois. We specialize in kitchens, bathrooms, and basement finishes where we feature our custom cabinetry and trim work. By partnering with the homeowner we are able to design and build a project that fits their needs, lifestyle, and personality. The general contractor/cabinet sub we had hired for our remodel were unable to deliver the look we wanted. We were lucky to find Cadence Cabinetry’s web site that had a photo of a particular finish we were looking for. Benjamin met with us quickly and was able to meet the rushed schedule. We also asked his team to do some “firsts” that included cable shelving, a slick/lacquer type of finish, and a mirrored pantry style cabinet for a master bath. Benjamin is a creative problem solver and easy to work with. The entire Cadence team is super nice and has integrity. We appreciated the honest and straightforward communication, attention to detail, and willingness to do what was needed to make it right. Cadence did an incredible job on 3 custom projects: custom built in bookshelves and crown molding in an office, a hidden jib door and trim work in our entryway, and woodwork and trim in our golf sim. They were incredibly responsive, creative, and their craftsmanship is impressive. I would highly recommend them for any custom cabinetry/woodworking project.

Cadence was wonderful to work with! Before starting our kitchen remodel project, Benjamin asked several fantastic questions that helped us consider what the goal of our project was. Our meeting in the show room to finalize our project layout and decide on finishes was also outstanding. We asked many questions and Benjamin was able to talk us through any part of the project as we made decisions. He also helped steer us in the right direction when thinking about the functionality of our space. These interactions alone would be enough to warrent a 5-star rating! As we actually started our project, we got to work with more of the fantastic team. Our project manager kept us up to date with how our project was progressing with consistent updates. The team members that came to install cabinets were friendly and talented and made sure every detail was exactly right. Even the Cadence recommended electrician and tile workers were excellent. We could not be happier with our kitchen remodel and regularly comment to each other that it is now our favorite part of our house!

Cadence recently finished our complete kitchen remodel, and we could not be happier with it. Our project manager and the team delivered a superior product on time and on budget (and the total cost was markedly lower than other estimates we'd received). Communication was seamless, and there seemed to be no friction in hiring and scheduling various subcontractors. We highly recommend Cadence, and will use them again when we re-do our bathrooms.

From start to finish, working with Benjamin and his team at Cadence Cabinetry was a fantastic experience. We completely finished our basement and from the beginning we knew Benjamin understood our vision and end goal. The craftsmanship, professionalism and integrity he and his team brought to our project made our large construction project an enjoyable one. It’s worth noting the project spanned 4 months from November 2020-February 2021. Even having a large scale construction project in our house over the holidays did not add any stress thanks to the open communication between the project manager and myself. Highly recommend working with Cadence. We look forward to working with them on future projects.

Cadence did a brilliant job remodeling our master bathroom in August 2020. Benjamin was instrumental in the design stage and helped define our vision which he matched with our budget and spacial constraints. He was thorough, enabled easy decision-making and offered opportunities to utilize remnant stone to reduce cost. Frank the foreman was our primary day-to-day contact. He was punyctual, professional, friendly and responsive. He went the extra mile on several occasions and served as a tremendous resource. We have since sold our home but we would absolutely consider using Cadence for future projects.

While renovating and adding-on to our 126 year old Victorian on Lake Michigan, we engaged Holly Hendersen Interior Design and Benjamin from Cadence Custom Cabinetry to create a true working kitchen. Our priority was to have a highly functional kitchen but one that captured the charm of our old house but in a modern way. That target was hit in exceptional fashion. The team took our input and turned it into a space I love to cook in, open to the new additon and our splendid views. Blending the 19th and 21st centuries. The thought put into, the flexability and the quality of the cabinetry is everything we asked for. Matt, the lead installer, not only did and excellent job he took our crazy schedule and convenience into consideration at each step. I am not big on writing reviews but in this case, felt compelled to do so. Great job and thank you for making cooking so much more enjoyable.

If you are looking for quality custom cabinetry I highly recommend you give Cadence Custom Cabinetry an opportunity to quote your project. This is a group of friendly, hard working professionals who are client and detail focused. Cadence handled our home remodel which included a complete rehab of our kitchen and master bath as well as updating our vanities in 2 additional baths. This all during Covid! There are many great ideas on Houzz. We started there for ideas and allowed Cadence to deliver a superior if not more superior product than what we found on the sight.

Commented: what would you change in this kitchen?A design is all about an individuals preference in style. The cabinets could use an update and remove some of the glass. Add a contrast in cabinet color to the bottom set.
