The focus of Change Design Group is to provide design and space planning, custom cabinetry, millwork and installation for residential kitchens, libraries, offices, mudrooms and theaters. From concept to reality, Change Design Group will transform your current rooms into beautiful, functional spaces where family memories will be formed for years to come. “Change Is Good” is the motto of Change Design Group based in Wilmette and co-founded by Mike O’Brien and Jeff Burch. They each bring a passion to the art of design and the attention to detail their clients deserve. Our role is to, first, listen to and get to know you and your family. Once we hear your needs and learn how your family works, we will develop directed solutions for the spaces in your home, adding beauty, elegance and style to the transformation of your home. Working on our own, or with your architect or interior designer, we design and build our cabinetry to exacting specifications. We bring out the best in the materials, the finishes and the details to fulfill the dreams of our clients. A precise installation is critical to the long-term success of a project. Properly installing the elements, like sliding stone panels and beautifully built furniture ensure a room that looks spectacular and works even better for years to come.

We used Change Design to design and install the kitchen, butlers pantry, bathrooms, laundry room, mudroom and basement bar in our brand new home. Everything looks spectacular with clean lines and classic, timeless features, not only that, but every room is super functional. Building a new custom home is very stressful. Working with Mike and his team at Change Design was truly a pleasure. He helped us make all of the selections for our new gorgeous kitchen (and yes, I love it as much today as I did the day it was done). The cabinets are lovely and the design of the kitchen was planned perfectly. I would definitely use Change Design again for another project.

I absolutely cannot recommend Mike O’Brien and his team (love Jeff!, etc.) highly enough! We interviewed multiple designers and selecting Change Design was the best thing to ever happen to us! We did an extensive 1st floor renovation, including removing a laundry room, formal dining room, and existing kitchen to create one open plan kitchen, perfect for entertaining! Mike’s experience as an architect and a tremendous cook, are immensely helpful. His suggestions are absolutely invaluable and he always has fantastic, thoughtful suggestions for how to best utilize or change an existing space. Mike’s taste is impeccable and I adore EVERY inch of my new kitchen and silently thank him every time I’m cooking and reach for something and it’s exactly where it should be due to his planning. I have already recommended Mike to a dozen+ friends and 3 of them on my block alone are currently using him for their kitchen renovations. Renovating a home is a tremendous expense/investment and we are forever grateful that we found Mike and his team!

Mike O'Brian and Change Design group remodeled our kitchen and 4 bathrooms in a mid century modern house. They were wonderful to work with in every respect. They came up with innovative designs while incorporating my suggestions. Mike offered ideas to improve other parts of the house that they were not responsible for. Mostly importantly they stayed within the budget I had set and maximized it.

Mike O'Brien is fabulous! He has helped me a remodel three kitchens. The last one is the best! He helped me with design ideas and helped me build a stunning kitchen with fabulous finishes and exquisite lighting. He knows when to be assertive at the right times to make sure I don't make a mistake. I love my cabinets, countertops, backsplash, appliances! My kitchen looks like $1 million and he help me stay on budget as well. I would totally recommend him!

Change Design Group completely transformed our home! From concept through completion, Mike (architect and designer) and Jeff (finish carpenter and contractor) exceeded all of our expectations. We now have a beautiful and functional kitchen/living space that has truly 'changed' the way we live!
