His attention to details and craftsmanship are superb, with always practical advice offered. The stain was hand mixed. The wood panel between the countertop and cabinets pulled the kitchen design together. He undertook a major overhaul of the upstairs bathroom, relocating all the plumbing, installing a tile floor, bringing the washer and dryer into the area, creating a unique and functional vanity area while keeping the arts and craft traditions. We hired Tom O'Brien of Mantelpeace to redo our kitchen. Tom worked with us ahead of time to plan the scope of the project within our budget. In the planning stage Tom was extremely helpful in visualizing how to repurpose existing space and came up with solutions that were practical and cost-effective. He has a lot of historical knowledge about houses in the northeast, which we found valuable as we wanted a look in keeping with the age of the house. Tom's specialty is as a craftsman. The custom cabinets he built for our space are beautiful. Tom is easy to communicate with and stay in touch with. For our project we brought in a few subcontractors, and all worked together without a hitch. Four years later, we are happily working with Tom again to redo our basement.
