Mod Cabinetry

If you're looking for cabinets that come right the first time, keep looking. We used Mod in our kitchen and master bath. In the kitchen, I've fiddled for hours, removing drawer fronts and playing with the Blum hardware to get the reveals to align and the drawers to close properly. I have one more cabinet that I guess I'll need to remove and reinstall the drawer glides to even get the drawer closed. The installers had done this same job once, but for whatever reason they still weren't right and space was needed between drawers to install the drawer pulls. We've asked multiple times about a kitchen cabinet that came with a curved side panel, but gotten no response. (See photo and note the left side reveal that is far tighter than the right side.) We asked the installers about it and they said the cabinet came that way and there's nothing they can fix. We received a bathroom sink cabinet with a center cabinet too small for a sink. While this could have been a mis-communication between our designer and Mod's, it seems incredible that anyone on either end of that conversation would think a master bathroom sink could fit in such a small cabinet. When we finally received the replacement vanity cabinet, within 2 months, one of the drawer fronts has developed a delaminating bubble. (see photo). You have to pay up front for the entire order of course. So once the order is paid for, you don't get much by way of customer service.

Really wonderful experience with Mod. I got the standard designer plan and they set me up with an excellent designer who did expert measurements and plans, as she understood the vision perfectly. Went with the Euro cabinets, and they were gorgeous and shipped perfectly in excellent condition, well protected, packaged well, and white glove delivery service. There were two internal shelves missing from one of the cabinets that I couldn't learn about until after everything was delivered, but they were terrific about getting replacements sent to me expeditiously. Everything looks beautiful and is very high quality and modern. Would recommend in a heartbeat.

[9/22 Update: Mod reached out after my review and hauled away the extra wood pieces, which was much appreciated. I'd still have reservations about recommending them after my experience, but it seems like they are trying to turn things around internally.] Really disappointing experience getting our new kitchen cabinets. Mod came and took measurements, but got them wrong which required us to change how planned to install the upper cabinets. Many of our cabinets were damaged on delivery, and our rep was unresponsive for days as we'd try to get them replaced or repaired. When we *did* get replacements, it was almost all the wrong pieces, which are just sitting in my garage and will probably cost *me* money to get rid of. My designer had worked with Mod before and had good experiences, so it sounds like maybe they've just gotten too big too quickly.

This has been a good experience so far. The cabinets are great looking. I do recommend it. Thank you for your time.

Mod is seriously taking cabinetry to the next level! I am a kitchen & bath designer in the Bay Area. I was so impressed with the quality of the cabinetry. I had ordered kitchen cabinets and vanities. My contractor was equally impressed with the quality and ease of installation. Customer service is top notch. They can help customize anything you need. For example, I had a built in coffee maker that needed to be in a specific spot and location and they figured it out. Lots of variety on the finishes. Can't beat the value.

As an architect and interior designer I am always looking for great cabinet shops to work with. Mod Cabinetry offers both an impressive product and outstanding customer service. Their Online catalog makes it easy for designers to browse available styles and sizes. They also offer an online design tool, which we don't use but is a great tool for customers who don't come with their own software. In addition to what's shown in their catalog Mod can also accommodate a great number of customization requests. Their clean lined cabinets are solidly built using American hardwood plywood and non toxic glues and finishes. In addition to a good selection of wood finishes in both Shaker Style and slab doors they also offer custom paint color finishes. Overall Mod's product really fills a hole in the market for projects that can't afford or don't require fully custom cabinetry but are looking for alternative and step up from Ikea or Craft Maid. I have worked with Mod Cabinetry on several projects so far and it has been a great experience every time. Both owner and staff are extremely knowledgeable and responsive and dedicated to the success of each project.
