Our kitchen (and mainly the full first-floor) design process took over a year (due to us changing our minds and the timeline) and throughout it all she was an incredible partner, she never once was frustrated with us shifting the timing. Stephanie brought the most thoughtful and inspiring ideas to the table, while always taking the time to truly listen and work through our choices with us to make sure the final design aligned perfectly with our vision. When inevitable hiccups came up during construction, she stepped in without hesitation to help resolve them, advocating for us and ensuring everything stayed on track. WOW!!! Stephanie and her team are incredible! She delivered on all three main things we requested: a kitchen that is beautiful, functional and timeless. My husband and I are first-time homeowners, and we were crazy enough to take on our kitchen for our very first renovation. We had absolutely no idea what we were doing and were afraid of getting taken advantage of, so it was crucial that we found someone we could trust and connect with. I found Stephanie on Houzz, and we were so lucky we did! Working with Stephanie was like working with my mom or sister, in the best way possible. Like many young families, our biggest issue was a lack of storage. Stephanie paid attention to even the tiniest details to ensure our kitchen was designed to function the way our family needed it to. My husband is the chef of the family, and she worked with him to understand how he likes to move through the kitchen so she could build a layout that fits his cooking flow. We thought through pantry solutions, appliance storage, spaces for baby and toddler items - my three year old has his own drawers for plates and bowls, and even a "snack fridge" that he loves to show off to every single person who comes over to our house. It's easily accessible to him with all his favorite things. No more bugging mama for snacks every 30 min! I also have a side passion for interior design, but no formal education, so while I have a ton of ideas, I don't always understand how things work and come together. When I first met with Stephanie, I told her I need someone to give it to me straight and tell me when something will just not translate well. She took the time to explain what would work for our space, what would not work, or what could work but maybe wasn't the best investment for our budget. We zeroed in on one main "dream kitchen" to use for inspiration - which happened to be a kitchen that is easily twice the size of my own. She helped me identify which details about that inspiration photo drew me to it and pulled out certain features that she knew would work within the space we had. Now, I'm writing this while sitting on my couch looking up at my stunning kitchen and could not be more thrilled with the result. I highly recommend paying the extra fee to have Stephanie help with selections! Kitchens are such a huge investment, and I didn't want to be sitting here after the dust settled wondering what the heck I was thinking. We built a custom home and quickly became overwhelmed with the amount of decisions and choices that had to be made. While researching local designers, I came across Plain & posh. Besides having many positive reviews, Stephanie offered a flat fee package for the entire house and will do the cabinet designs regardless if you buy the cabinets through her or not. Working with her was the BEST decision we made. Building a custom house is stressful and time consuming. Stephanie's experience and talent helped make building the house an enjoyable experience. One of the best parts of her service are the 3D color renderings of the cabinet designs. Being able to see the designs in 3D makes a world of difference especially in the Kitchen and Primary Bathroom. Since I work full time, Stephanie was very accomodating when setting up meetings with me. I can't recommend Stephanie enough and would use her again in a heart beat!

We were first inspired by a bathroom Stephanie had done for a friend of ours. We really liked her sense of color and texture. For our bathroom, her help was invaluable in determining design layout, materials, and cabinet options. She and her team prepared detailed drawings and elevations that showed the layout in 3-D --these drawings were also critical in assuring a great job from the contractor. Stephanie was always fun to talk to and responsive to questions, and we are very pleased with the bathroom!

We just completed our second project with Stephanie at Plain and Posh and could not be more thrilled with the results. First, we completely remodeled our master bathroom which I previously reviewed and remains a great retreat for us. Our second project with Stephanie was to remodel our kitchen. We transitioned a very nice kitchen from Brazilian cherry cabinets and floors to a much more modern design that Stephanie and Nancy designed. The Plain and Posh cabinet line is of utmost quality and Stephanie's guidance in helping us choose the colors for the wall cabinets, island cabinets, and countertops was spot on. The overall kitchen design was not only inclusive of our wishes but built on those and resulted in a final design that we did not envision ourselves but ultimately love. We always felt like we were Stephanie's only client but came to find out that at one time in our project she was actively working on over 30 clients in various stages of design. Stephanie is a true professional in this field and I would not hesitate to recommend her design services. As a matter of fact, we are now considering updating additional spaces in our home because we are so thrilled with the results of our previous projects. Of course, we will consult with Stephanie on any future projects.

Stephanie is masterful in her craft. We worked with her on a full house rehab and addition. She is meticulous and designed our home to be beautiful and functional! She did our entire cabinetry design - kitchen, mudroom, fireplace built ins, laundry room and five baths! We found her so incredibly knowledgeable that we also hired her to help us with finishing selections (lighting, plumbing, hardware etc.). Highly recommend Stephanie - she is a treasure!

I worked with Stephanie from Plain & Posh to do a total renovation of my kitchen, mudroom and powder rooms. Stephanie is not only very knowledgeable and professional but also very easy to work with. She had great recommendations but was also very responsive to my input. She can work with you on different levels from just helping with the plans to seeing your project through to completion and dealing with contractors. This brings me to another great part of working with Plain & Posh. The custom cabinet maker as well as the crew that came to do the work were fantastic. They have all worked together for a long time so that was very helpful with scheduling and communication. They were all super nice and got the project done on time, were easy to have in the house, cleaned up every day and when any issue did arise (which it is bound to), they worked well together to solve the problem. Stephanie helped me with a remodel of my family room and I couldn’t be happier with the result. When working with an older space, settled walls and uneven measurements, it's so important to be thorough, and Stephanie is both meticulous and creative - finding practical solutions to work with our existing space. (She was also so tactful in getting my husband to see the advantages of compromising his vision to meet my practical kitchen needs - hence the bonus points!) We have used Plain and Posh three times since we moved into our townhouse (built in the late '80's and never before updated.) Our last project was the easiest (utility room) preceded by our master bath and full kitchen remodel. (Obviously the project cost was only for the utility room project. This review covers them all.) First, and most important, Stephanie (and her team) LISTENS to her clients! Certainly they will make recommendations, but only after they listen to what you want to accomplish and all the other ideas you might have. Their initial design has always been right on the money, giving us everything we wanted and more. She'll spend the time with you to pick out all your finishes and materials or do it for you, whatever you want. She works great with your own contractors if you have them, but will recommend contractors, suppliers, manufacturers etc if you don't. Her custom cabinetry line is some of the best for the price that I've seen.

We selected Plain and Posh for a kitchen remodel project in 2016. Our project included removal of a wall separating our small 9 cabinet kitchen and a small dining room. The new expanded kitchen increased our storage from 9 cabinets to 25 cabinets. Stephanie was a pleasure to work with and she had many great ideas. She was very knowledgeable and was able to help us to easily make decisions on things like cabinet style and color. Plain and Posh did not do the installation for us, but the workmanship of the cabinets and the end result were very pleasing to us. I used Stephanie to design my entire home - kitchen, breakfast and bar areas and 5.5 baths. She had a beautiful selection of cabinetry and several different price points that allowed me to customize each of the rooms. The cabinets are stunning and very luxurious looking. At the beginning of the process, she provided us with several design options. Once we selected the layout we liked best, she listened to our feedback and made our desired changes. We love our remodeled kitchen and master bath. Plain and Posh did such a great job on my kitchen in 2009, we hired them again in 2011 to do our master bath. Stephanie knows her products, paid attention to our needs, and came up with a great design.

Plain and Posh worked with us to design a functional and most attractive powder room vanity. The custom cabinet included mirrored inserts, criss-cross moldings and totally finished sides and legs. It is beautiful and we are definitely pleased with the outcome!

Stephanie provided a design for our kitchen that was creative and really addressed our interests and issues, e.g. we entertain with some regularity. It was a clever change to the current set-up and created a beautiful focal point with cabinets and a granite table. In the new design, the primary cabinets were white and this focal point had pale wood cabinets; the granite used on the table and throughout the kitchen tied together the different cabinets. Stephanie also paid attention to little details such as adding a spice rack and space for a step ladder, and encouraged us to choose a cabinet that tucked into a space next to the sink that almost doubled the cabinet space in the room. We had a great time the day she helped me pick out the granite, tile, sink and fixtures. She even helped with the paint color. All looks beautiful and after three years we continue to get compliments. One other point is that we had some questions about the normal wear and tear on the white cabinets 2 to 3 years after they were installed and Stephanie was very helpful and constructive with suggestions on how to resolve things.
