Chris Child of Vermont Case & Cabinet Company was a pleasure to work with. We were having trouble finding a large desk credenza that met our needs and price range. Chris was able to custom build exactly what we wanted in true craftsmanship fashion. He was open to communication and redesign/changes throughout the design process and was right on schedule with the installation. A friendly individual with great skills. I have worked with Chris Child at Vermont Case & Cabinet Company on three separate projects, and in all respects the experience has been excellent. Chris embodies the qualities that you would want to find in a professional craftsman. His work is impeccable, he stays on deadline, and his rates are reasonable given the quality of the construction. But those characteristics don't adequately convey how much fun it is to work on a project with Chris. His enthusiasm for his work is contagious. If you come to Chris with ideas, he will flesh them out with you in a way that feels truly collaborative. He will take your rough sketch or description, turn it into CAD drawings, and then modify the design with you until it captures your vision. You will also benefit from his extensive knowledge and his artistic aesthetic as he adds to your design in ways that you don't even realize are crucial until you see the final product. I first met Chris through my general contractor when I built my house, and it was a fluke that our paths ever crossed. I had no intention of having custom cabinets in my house because I believed that they would simply be too expensive. When my contractor pointed out that Chris would be able to do the work for the same price as purchasing semi-custom cabinets, I jumped at the offer. (By the way, I hired that particular contractor because he had such an excellent reputation for the quality and professionalism of his work. The fact that he sub-contracted to Chris is further indication of VC&C's reputation.) That first experience was such a good one that I hired Chris again about ten years later when I wanted to install bookcases in a stairwell landing and in a music room. My mother was so impressed by the quality of the work that she then hired Chris to design a mantle and a bookcase in her house. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Chris to any of my friends.

Chris designed, built and installed cabinets and drawers for a revision of my old kitchen and for the bedroom and bathroom of a new addition to the house. He worked with me throughout the design process, making sure that everything looked and worked just as I wanted. Chris is an excellent designer, builder and project collaborator. Every day I appreciate the functionality and beauty of his work.

We first met Chris when the Design/Build team we hired for a house remodel contracted with him for a set of built-in cabinets and shelves for our study. The work was exquisite with much attention to detail and design. The exposed maple is a piece of art in itself and the painted aspects are flawless. The piece is functional (including well hidden cut outs to incorporate smooth integration of technology) and aesthetic. 3 years later we had no reservations about hiring Chris again to make a custom trestle table for our kitchen nook. Despite the nook's unique dimensions he was able to make a beautiful table that is functional enough for our children to eat and play on but also beautiful enough to appreciate as a design piece when not in use. I strongly encourage anyone in the Vermont+ area to consider hiring Chris for any custom job.

We hired Chris to help with our kitchen renovation. We chose a dramatic red oak veneer for the cabs and it turned out great. His ideas always add value to the design collaboration and his work is of the highest quality. Chris also does cabinetry work for our construction company and I've enjoyed many years of working together with him. He provides drawings that are accurate and budgets that are solid. He considers his finishes to be one of his strongest assets and they are very good but truly he executes everything well. Chris built our kitchen cabinets 5 years ago and they are still looking and functioning like new! We gave him very little direction and he created extremely functional sliding shelves, dividers for utensils, a tray storage area! Everything is finished and smooth, easy to clean. We love it....
