Floor it Today

We hired Floor it Today to remodel a house before we moved into it. BIG MISTAKE. You need to watch them like a hawk. Do your research so that you know the steps of the job because they skip steps, cut corners, and substitute cheaper materials and paint than what you pay for. It has been a year since our project was completed. It took me this long to get over it and post a review. They completely messed up my hardwood floor the first time they did it and had to completely redo the entire thing. What was to take 4-6 weeks took 4 months and we had to live in a hotel for a month with a one year old because our house was incomplete, but we had to move because our other place had sold and closed. We couldn't start unpacking because they needed access to all of the floors. While they were redoing the floors, they dented our dishwasher, scratched our refrigerator, and even chipped the countertop they had JUST installed. Their workers also took candy from our kitchen and threw the wrappers in our front yard. I cried a lot throughout the entire process. For anyone that uses this company, please check for hollow spots in your flooring. They did not use any floating material the first time they did it. They kept trying to tell me the floors were perfect and that floating material didn't need to be used. The joints around the walls didn't line up exactly and they kept saying that their job was the best that it could possibly be done. They just kept adding joint filler between the floor boards. However it is not true- floors should not have any hollow spots. Hollow spots lead to mold. And joints done properly line up perfectly. What bothered me the most was if I didn't check for hollow spots, they would have left everything without correcting it. It also REALLY REALLY bothered me that I chose Sherwin William paint colors and paint, but didn't find out until it was too late that they didn't use Sherwin Williams paint in my house. They used the cheapest brand they could find and just matched the colors. The paint has already chipped and I am convinced that they did not paint the ceilings even though it was included in our quote. The painters did not prep the walls properly, but instead painted over dust and tape. If they would have told us that the painters weren't going to prep the walls properly, I would have done it. The previous owners didn't clean the house and we had only owned it for a day when the painters started. We thought ALL painters knew they had to prep the walls before they painted. The only good news was Ahmed tried his best to rectify the situation. They redid our entire floors. They redid the worst sections of the paint (but not the entire paint job). He paid for our stay at the hotel for a month. He paid to have our animals boarded. He took 10% off the countertop slab because his workers damaged it. He replaced the door to our dishwasher because they dented it. Our refrigerator is still sporting a nasty scratch though.

Not only did Floor it Today take care of all my floors in my remodel, they gutted the master bathroom and did all the contract work including tile floors, relocating the shower, building the new shower, installing all plumbing fixtures, building custom cabinets, installing granite and sink and painting. They were the best to work with and were incredibly flexible with all my modifications. They went above and beyond. Excellent work!
