“We have worked with Larry Routen on two major projects 10 years apart. In 2004, when we wanted to remodel our kitchen, we learned of Larry from a neighbor that had used Larry to design their new kitchen. So, we contacted Larry and began the process. We had a detailed, 2-page list of what we liked and wanted in a new kitchen. Larry was able to meet all the items on our wish list and give us a kitchen that we still love 10 years later.
Late last year, we decided to build an addition with a new master bathroom and exercise room. So, we called up Larry and he was more than happy to work with us once again. We told Larry what we wanted and he again worked his design magic to make it happen. We now have a beautiful addition with a master bathroom that is beautiful and functional. Larry hit a home run once again for us.
Larry Routen is a true professional and a designer that truly listens to the client and produces a design that meets or exceeds your expectations. “We have had Larry Routen with Lifestyle Kitchen and Bath help us with several projects over the last 10 years. Everything from a small lake house bath remodel to a full blown kitchen and master bath in our permanent home. We have been extremely pleased with all his work.
Larry developed a creative design for our smallish master bath area. He supplied all the materials and coaching while our own general contractor did the work. We continue to enjoy this well utilized area with top of the line cabinets and fixtures.
Larry performed a complete design and build project for our kitchen. Cabinets, appliances, flooring, bulkheads - everything complete! Larry pulled off this remodel flawlessly while we were away on a two week Alaskan cruise. He held our home keys and coordinated his workers every day. We vacationed without worry. The project was complete when we returned home. We still love it today, a few years after it was completed. We receive many compliments on our new, updated kitchen.

“James provided the designs for two projects, a bathroom remodel in our basement, and a major remodeling of our entire second floor. Both turned out wonderfully. The basement remodel was fairly simple- replace an old shower stall, sink & toile that were taken out in order to install a waterproofing system. We knew generally what we wanted, and James helped make it happen. The second floor was much more complex- James really helped us find a vision for that project, and gave us a design for a spectacular space. We expanded living space into poorly used (or previously inaccessible) attic space, creating a library/sitting area, closet/dressing room (calling it a walk-in closet is a huge understatement), and put in a full bath with steam shower. James' eye for details made all the difference. He also understood the structural issues involved in changing the space (he has an engineering degree), and he was present at every step of the work. Mostly, while giving us guidance, he listened. I can't stress that enough.
Design work began in 2011. The basement work was completed in 2012 (Feb-April), and the second floor in 2013 (Dec 2012-April 2013). We went through a couple of versions for the second floor- james helped us see what would work and what wouldn't. The space is completely functional, comfortable, and beautiful.

I have been a contractor in the Indianapolis area for 22 years, I have worked with many designers throughout those years, I would say in my professional opinion Shelly is definitely the best designer I have worked with I have never had any issues or shortcomings with her designs / projects, she always double checks what she orders to make sure that there are no missing pieces are left out parts, and from an installer point of view that is very important. Because a simple wrong cabinet or a simple piece of missing molding or a filler can cause weeks of delay to a project. I would highly recommend her if you are looking for somebody to go the extra mile and step outside of the box a little bit with a kitchen or bath design.”
