DeVos Custom Woodworking

I bought walnut countertops for my kitchen remodel and asked Dan, the owner, if he would help me with the installation after my "master carpenter" botched the install. Dan graciously agreed to help me out. DeVos picked up my countertops; laser templated my cabinets for a precise fit; cut, mortised (for butt joint fasteners), and finished the countertops at their shop; and then installed them. The final result is incredible. The countertops look great in my kitchen. This is largely thanks to Oscar, one of Dan's employees. He's a stickler for detail, which is what every remodeler/homeowner wants. I didn't know what to expect when I called DeVos. I now realize it was the wisest decision I made in my remodel. It's also good to know that there are people out there who take quality and craftsmanship very seriously. These days, you're lucky if you find this. When I build my dream timber frame house, I know who to call for my countertops.

We ordered a custom Mesquite bar top from DeVos Custom Woodworking for our home bar. Our bar top was shipped a couple months later in three pieces and fit our template very well. It was easy to reassemble and the finished product is great!

Absolutely LOVE the countertop. We were looking for a single piece solid countertop for out large island (13’ x 6’). We selected DeVos to create our countertop and we couldn’t be happier! I recently hired De Vos Custom Woodworking to build a top for a very large island in a high end kitchen remodel I was hired to design and build. The client wanted the wood top to look slightly rustic, but not too much so. I sent Anne a photograph of the finished look we wanted and was assured they could deliver. Every detail of my order was handled with dedication and professionalism. Anne went above and beyond to make sure everything was in order and communicated with me regularly. As my business is in a neighboring state I had to put my trust in De Vos to deliver what they said they could and they did. Custom is the perfect word to describe the service and product I received from Devos. I worked with Ann who was knowledgeable ,easily accessible and creative.Since we lived in another state,all of our contacts were through e-mail. She really seemed to care and kept us informed. I couldn't be more pleased with the gorgeous wood bar top in my kitchen. Natural wood is so beautiful and durable.

The vision for my dream kitchen was cream painted cabinets and walnut counter tops. No one locally would even touch wood counter tops. Everyone -- my cabinet maker, friends, a local designer friend -- was pushing granite, granite, granite -- which I absolutely did not want. I found DeVos from an internet search I did 6 years prior - I still have the home page that I printed out for my dream folder. My husband and I visited the DeVos in person, saw they were 100% dedicated to making gorgeous wood counter tops and fell in love on the spot. The counter tops arrived in a sturdy crate and were installed by a local installer. We simply could not image our kitchen or our house without these beautiful counters. We wrapped the entire kitchen in these walnut counters, including the busy sink area. We have had them for nearly two years and they look like they glow from within and are warm to the touch (unlike granite). Like many kitchens, our island is the "kitchen table" and the island's walnut counters are the perfect complement to all my serving platters, vases and everything. We are so, so happy with how it all turned out and how the walnut continues to perform. I would recommend DeVos Woodworking to anyone considering an alternative to ubiquitous granite.

Ever since the first countertop arrived we have been extremely pleased with DeVos. We continue to love and admire the quality materials used and fine workmanship resulting in beautiful, practical surfaces, built to endure. It's a pleasure to know that a quality outfit such as DeVos exists in this world that has so many sub-optimal things like fiber-board and throw-away furniture, that gets trashed in a few years rather than treasured and passed on for others to enjoy. The emails and conversations we’ve had with the DeVos team have been friendly, helpful and exceeded our expectaitons. We rememberour talks with Dan and his great advice on how to do our tricky corner (tricky to novices like us!). His ideas were right on and led us to a better result than what we had envisioned with that countertop. We re-built our kitchen slowly, cabinet by cabinet, learning as we went. I discovered Waterlox along the way and how well it works on wood -- Waterlox has the benefits of oil-rubbing as well as varnish protection. Then I found that DeVos uses Waterlox to finish their countertops. Perfect! Could DeVos match the color, texture and grain of the hard maple I was using for the cabinets? Of course! Match the finish? Naturally! Create any kind of edge we wanted -- squared or rounded or half rounded or, or, or...? Yes! The only thing DeVos could not do was fill the order in a few days. The folks at DeVos do such quality work that the finish alone takes a week or more. Since I was using the exact same finish on the exact same kind of wood for our cabinets, I know what good work on the finish looks like. Having used varnishes of various kinds most of my life, I like to think that I take the time and give full attention to my finish applications. And DeVos countertops always arrived with a perfectly smooth finish that I have yet to achieve.

DeVos Custom Woodworks out of Dripping Springs, Texas, did a beautiful job building my butcher block island. They spent plenty of time with me educating me on various woods, construction options and giving me quotes. The finished product is an end grain 1.75" squares, masquite butcher block with rounded corners, 2.75" thick. It's a rich red color hard wood that is easy to care for. The only maintenance has been oiling it with tung oil a couple of times.

Every day, my wife and I marvel at our finished kitchen and the Spalted Pecan countertops that just complete the amazing design. In researching options for countertops online, I came across the DeVos Custom Woodworking web site. We wanted the warmth of wood countertops but something different than the traditional maple butcher block. And boy did they deliver! Working with Anne on the design and sketches , Nicole in the office and owner Daniel on the final dimensions and fabrication of the countertops. Daniel and I checked over the dimensions numerous times until we both were satisfied. Never did I feel frustration from him working with a novice and it all came together, a perfect finish for all the hard work a kitchen remodel brings. Living in Pennsylvania and not being able to visit the Dripping Springs, Texas shop was a risk but I would encourage anyone to remove that fear. The pictures you find online, do not do justice to the final product when you see with your own eyes and feel the beauty these countertops provide!

We built a Texas Modern home and needed a custom mesquite bar top. It was curved and to fit an exact architecturally designed cabinet. The top was beautiful, easy to care for and fit exactly. Great company and plan on using them for more custom work.
