Glenn Robert Lym Architect

Glenn Lym provided the inspiration, technical advice, and guidance necessary for the creation of an office/retreat in my attic. While crawling around in the attic discussing another project, Glenn noted that I could quite easily turn the space, which seemed uninhabitable to me, into the office I craved. Our subsequent collaboration was primarily via email, an approach that worked beautifully and resulted in a light-filled room that I use and enjoy daily. It was a pleasure to work with Glenn and I recommend him highly for his creativity, solid technical knowledge, and problem-solving abilities.

I have had the pleasure of working with Glenn Lym on two great projects over the past 15 years. From a Contractors perspective Glenn has a great understanding of building details and is a good collaborator during the construction process.

Glenn designed a major rebuild of my house, doubling its size, and adding a garage and a rental unit. We talked a lot about how I live, what I care about and what I don’t like. His design reflected our many conversations accurately. Glenn didn't just re-work someone else's house. He interpreted everything we talked about into a really interesting house. The trapezoidal site is hemmed in on all sides by streets and adjacent houses, on a very steep grade in San Francisco. It took a lot thinking to convert what I wanted into a real house that could actually be built on such a tough site, but he did it. Glenn designed the inside of the house so that it would work exactly the way I wanted it to. He designed the outside of the house so it would be great to look at.

Glenn was a joy to work with. Glenn has great creativity yet he is also able to look for practical solutions. He has an easy modest manner that quickly opens lines of communication. His years in the profession have given him a wide-array of contacts to draw on as well. I highly recommend Glenn for architectural services.

I used to work w/ Glenn a number of years ago and recently had a smaller project at my condo building. Glenn helped put together drawings and get us through the permit process so we could make some much needed repairs. The project is now complete and everyone in the building is happy with the results.

I moved into a Glen Lym designed home ten years ago. Every day I feel like I'm living in an aesthetic masterpiece. His use of angles, command of light, and the rooms' relationship to each other are masterful. When we needed to build a back deck, Glen was engaged once again. He extended visual elements from the interior to the exterior, creating a wonderful continuity without mimicking what he'd done before. He has a wonderful eye for design and is teeming with energy and good ideas.

I am a contractor whom have worked with Glenn for over 10 years. Through these 10 years, he has designed a lot of fabulous houses. Each designs have been loved and adored by each customer. Being able to work with Glenn has been a blessing and I would highly recommend him if you want something that fits your personality. He is very creative and flexible with meeting others need and standard. With his patients, he will help design the house of your dream.

We hired Glenn to design a whole-house remodel for us. At the start of the project, we only had a general sense of our goals. Glenn did an amazing job helping us iterate through options and presented creative and beautiful ways to accomplish our vision. He worked tirelessly through our multiple revisions and got the contractors the details they needed on time to get the job done. The final result is spectacular. We have been living in the spaces that Glenn created for us for a few years now and they serve our family perfectly. Everyone who comes over loves the spaces too. Kudos Glenn! I wouldn't hesitate to recommend him for any project, large or small. His sense of aesthetics is wonderful and the way he iterates to get the right answer is impressive.
