A big thank you to Marshall Hill. I placed an order online but my payment wasn't going through. I called and spoke to him and he figured out that the problem was on their end. He asked for my phone number and said he would call me back once he had it fixed. True to his word he called back a few minutes later and said my order would be on its way soon. All companies advertise good customer service, some actually deliver on that promise!

This is the second time I have purchased from AdvantageLumber.com. My first experience was excellent back in 2007 when I purchased a load of IPE for a deck I was building. Back then the customer service and sales experience were outstanding. Equally, the quality of the material delivered was superior. This time I purchased a load of B Grade 5/4 IPE and Select Grade Ship Lap Teak for a home I'm building on a coastal island in Maine. Isaias was the salesman that worked with me through the purchase. I had several questions regarding calculations of material, web site pricing, freight, and detailed questions about the Teak material. Isaias worked through all of these in a patient and helpful matter. My experience working with him reaffirmed my opinion of AdvantageLumber.com as a reputable and quality online shopping source for exotic decking and lumber. These are the guys to buy from. 5 stars.

I recently purchased beautiful Brazilian teak (cumaru) hardwood flooring from Advantage Lumber, and I couldn't be happier with my choice! My sales associate, Bill Cummings, was exceptional throughout the process. He was incredibly responsive and accommodating, especially when I needed to reorder due to some issues with my contractor's workmanship. Bill's understanding and helpfulness made the experience much smoother. We also ordered our decking material from him, and I am equally pleased with that. The quality of the flooring is outstanding, showcasing the rich hues and durability of cumaru. It truly enhances the beauty of my home. I hope it helps others make their decision! We previously ordered some beautiful Ipe for a large sized deck (of which Miranda Comer was the sales rep via my contractor brother in law) but silly me didn’t not calculate for deck stairs. Contacted Advantage Lumber again and luckily was assigned to Craig McCall. I sent him dimensions and pictures of the needs and received a great welcome and continued communications. Payment was easy and delivery was promptly scheduled. Materials arrived safe and sound with fantastic quality.

Brad was great, he helped adjust my order multiple times and returned every ph call. Material / lumber was as advertised and will make a beautiful deck that will triple (or longer if maintained with occasional thin coats of oil) the life of any lumber bought from the local "big box stores". The cost of the lumber will pay for itself after not having to rebuild the deck every ten years due to using box store bought lumber. I have used Advantage Lumber three times now for different projects and have had a very easy, satisfying, rewarding experience. Nothing better than your wife seeing the finished product and saying "Wow, it looks better than I imagined!!!".

Neal Petrusek really helped a lot with this project since it required sending a large load of lumber to Honduras. Every special requirement was done properly. The railing, baffle, lamps, stairs, and the screen room are all Ipe and match a previously built deck.

Advantage Lumber was able to save us a significant amount on our complete deck build. We are using Azek TimberTech Vintage series boards with their Impression Railing. Sarah Pierce, at Advantage Lumber was able to work with both myself and Azek to make sure all the correct boards, fasteners, and railing components were included so that nothing was missed. She had timely and personable communication throughout making it a very simple transaction. I will most definitely use Advantage Lumber (with Sarah's help) for future builds.

While seeking competitive pricing for teak deck tiles for a current project, I landed on Advantage Lumber. Completely pleased with product, purchase and receipt of goods. Unanticipated circumstances led me to deal with sales reps from Buffalo, Santa Fe Springs and Sarasota. The process evolved to be an unexpected ‘best for last’ situation as I was connected to Sarah Pierce in Sarasota. I found Sarah to be totally professional in manner, highly responsive to my inquiries and completely accommodating in ensuring the transaction-from placing the order to delivery-was executive without a glitch. I am in the process of building a new deck to overlook the lake and our boat dock on Tims Ford Lake in Winchester, Tennessee. Wanting to put down some quality TimberTech PVC decking, I contacted Advantage Lumber. The staff is very knowledgeable and helpful. I worked with Brad Rowell, and he is super nice to do business with. He reworked my quote several times to make sure I received exactly what I needed to finish the project. We purchased 500 Ln/ft of character teak after visiting the store in Sarasota, FL and reviewing samples we brought home. After waiting 6 weeks for the order we received the material but to our dismay it didn’t quite match up to the samples. After calling our sales rep. Brad Rowell he told us they would do whatever to make us happy. We viewed some other samples but decided we would keep what we had . It all worked out and looks great even though it was somewhat darker than the samples with contrasting sap wood on many boards.

Advantage Lumber was extremely helpful with picking out the right species for my project. They sent out a box with all of their woods, clips, and a nice product booklet free of charge, no shipping even! The samples were very professional and helped my client see what the finish product would look like. I worked with Isaias Pagan to put together multiple quotes until we got one locked down. He was fantastic, couldn’t recommend enough, he responded quickly, even on Saturday! Got my order of 1,600sqft of Cumaru about 10 days after ordering, now time to put together a deck! Great option for high-quality hardwood decking - slightly more expensive (Cumaru) than Trex, for example, but looks so, so much better. Customer service is also great - you do not need to be a deck installation professional to work with Advantage Lumber. Isaias Pagan was my customer service person, and was tremendous. Not every (maybe not any) project scope and delivery goes according to plan, and Isaias was great rolling with the inevitable adjustments on my project, and making sure it all worked out. Yes, you can buy softwood planks for less, then carefully install, stain and continue to preserve/replace them at substantially lower material cost, but once you figure install cost and the comparative longevity of Cumaru, it's a no-brainer.

I have a project which requires specific hardwood lumber dimensions. Neal Petrusek was very helpful in determining that what they had met my requirements. Although I live in St. Catharines, Ontario (Canada), which is only 45 minutes from the Advantage Mill in Buffalo, NY I was intrigued by the inventory Advantage offered on its website. A phone call to Marshall at their store and subsequent visit gave me the confidence to make the purchase and import the wood back home for my project. Marshall and the staff at the store made it very easy to select the type of hardwood (Cumaru) that would work best for my exterior deck project and further assisted with the hardware required to properly install this wood. When there's a break in the colder weather, I will install this beautiful Cumaru and highly recommend Advantage for their prices, inventory, and exceptional service.

I was in the market for composite decking to replace the 3.25 T&G fir on my front porch. I was set on using Timbertech Azek as I used it previously on a new deck and decided on going with their T&G porch product. I was a little leery about making such a large purchase on line due to the material expense and shipping. However, the costs savings of an on line vs. local lumber yard purchase (~12%) and the responsiveness of Bill Cummings, my sales agent alleviated my fears. While you can order on line vi a well designed web site, the ability to talk to an actual sales person was key. The shipping and delivery process were clearly explained. Bill generated at least 6 different quotes for me as I tried to narrow in on my selection. Despite the final purchase being slightly below the free shipping threshold, Bill included the free shipping, a savings of $240. As a point of reference, my local building supply just 12 miles away wanted to charge me $100 for delivery! Shortly after I made the purchase, as Bill promised, I was called by the shipping company TForce to arrange a delivery date. My materials arrived on time and nicely packaged, no issues! Bill even arranged for me to return a box of unused fasteners with free shipping saving me another $80. I do a lot of woodworking and home remolding and will definitely be recommending and using Advantage Lumber again.

Cumaru wood was pretty as received. After 3 days, the boards twisted and cupped severely. Advantage is blaming it on how the wood was stored. It wasn't stored incorrectly. I only had it for three days. This is extremely expensive wood that is touted to be superior. No matter how it was stored, wood should not cup in 3 days. Advantage will not stand behind their product. I am left with a $3000 pile of firewood.

Consumer beware! We ordered $12,000 worth of Ipe siding for our home and when the truck showed up to deliver it it was a simple box truck, equipped with no pallet jack. This was NOT disclosed to us upon ordering, we wouldn't have used this company if it had been. We've had many deliveries from other suppliers (drywall, trim, windows, sliding doors, cabinets , even with a SINGLE front door) and each time the truck shows up with a jack and places the delivery where needed. Why a company would send several TONS of wood without thinking through delivery is beyond me. The morning of we got a phone call from the driver that he was nearby and we went to the house to direct him on unloading and sign the receipt, to our surprise it's just a guy in a box truck. We then spent 2 HOURS in the 100+ degree Texas heat unloading siding piece by piece from the truck and onto our driveway. We were absolutely not prepared for this. All of us were dripping sweat and exhausted. The driver was gracious about it and helped us with the painstaking task so we gave him a cash tip as a thank you. My husband and I then got to spend another 4+ hours carrying this several ton delivery piece by piece to the area on our property it was actually meant to be stored (an area a pallet jack has no problem accessing but the box truck couldn’t get closer to). We paid 12K to do a day of horrible labor, with the heat and the weight of the delivery, we were sore for days after. I wouldn’t wish this on anyone.

Our sales representatives are instructed to inform all customers of this and in all cases our Order Confirming email and the Sales Order directly state that deliveries require a customer hand unload. Unfortunately, the only way to deliver freight of this size nationwide is to use a common LTL carrier or a dedicated semi-truck. For nearly 30 years we have handled every delivery larger than a small package in the same fashion. While one of the carriers we work with does have limited availability for a forklift unload in some areas of the US and Canada, there is added cost to this. More than just decking. I got the opportunity to build a memorial bench for a friend of mine and his surviving family. I ordered the wood from Advantage Lumber and was pleased to find that every single board was defect-free and the milling was so good that the only prep I had to do was cut off the round over and cut to length. The customer service was also very responsive and helpful, going above and beyond in their communication. If you need grade-A service and products with reasonable rates and delivery time, definitely go to Advantage Lumber. I will.

US customs had caused some issues with the export authorization on this shipment. Once they gave authorization they somehow lost the paperwork. The '1-3 days for shipping' is now 13 days and counting, while my project is at a standstill... The fact that I paid 20% of the cost of the lumber is hurting pretty bad right now - it would have been faster and cheaper for me to drive to Buffalo. Better to use a local lumberyard and have them match the price.

Ordered Cumaru decking with ipe clips etc. everything was in great shape, strait, no bad pieces. Received it on time. Only minor complaint is the 4x4 posts where not the same color as the decking. They where a darker reddish color. Not so different that it didn't work out but would have looked better if the color matched.

We had an deck replacement project for an ~1,000 sq. ft. deck and we decided on Ipe. After a lot of investigation I contacted Advantage Lumber and received a quote that was right where I had hoped and my budget estimated. We had very particular requirements for our decking; 16' length boards; kiln dried; and grooved for hidden fasteners. The price was the best quoted and delivery was free. Edgar help me through the quote and PO process and was very very helpful. In all I had 150 boards delivered and in transit some did not show up as expected. Edgar quickly helped me get the boards I wanted replaced, with no hassle and in the end we ended up with a beautiful deck. Highly recommend Advantage Lumber for the quality, professionalism, and customer first attitude.

We worked with Advantage Lumber for our new Ipe deck. Before deciding I visited the Los Angeles location and met with Edgar and the amazing Advantage Lumber team. Edgar was super helpful, showing me the quality of their wood, calculating our Ipe needs, and providing lots of great information. Advantage Lumber also had the longer lengths we needed (20', 21', 22') and could not find anywhere else in Los Angeles. The wood was milled to order and delivered promptly. Even our last minute addition of an extra length on the day of delivery was handled with ease. We have been really impressed with their knowledgeable and friendly service. Nate was also great answering all our questions. These guys are pros.

Did a 250+ foot balcony in IPE. Edgar at Advantage took care of our every need. It was done in steps, and every time we needed more materials Edgar was there for us making sure we got what we needed. This review is about our highly negative experience with the company and not their product. We purchased Tigerwood deck tiles for over $1500 and qualified for free shipping. Few weeks later I get a call from UPS telling me that they can't deliver to our address because their 53 foot semi truck can't get anywhere near our property. So I call a client explaining an issue, he called Advantage lumber, but they did nothing to resolve it, they threaten to charge cancelation fee if cancels the order. So I call UPS and ask them to deliver it to the nearby farm, I had to make an arrangement with a farm owner to let me use his property to drop a pallet and let it stay there until I find a way to deliver it to the job site. A week later UPS truck comes over and telling me I have to unload 950lb. pallet myself, because his paper says we will have a forklift. I ask him to lower it down with his lift gate, he says it's an extra $150 and we didn't pay for it. So I get in the truck, opened the pallet and start unloading wood tiles on the edge of the truck, than go down and take tiles to the ground. Had to go up and down 20 times before I was done. Driver did help a little by taking empty pallets with him. By the way, driver refused to get on the farm property, unloading was done on the side of the road. Than I had to load everything into my Honda odessey, because I was afraid it will be stollen by the time I get back to pick up the rest. No more business with Advantage lumber or their associates.

I have used Advantage Trim and Lumber IPE rain screen on a few residential projects in the Palm Springs vicinity and would highly suggest the product due to its aesthetic warmth and superior quality. The strong horizontal language of the wood provides an excellent contrast to a smooth stucco or stone material. As a designer, detailing the product for construction purposes is very straightforward and easy for contractors to understand. The IPE requires yearly maintenance (oiling) which may be its only critique . Proper care should be given prior to installation for local site condition adjustments to temperature and humidity. I would like to provide a follow up to my previously negative review. After several follow up calls to this company they did step up to the plate and make a serious attempt to rectify this situation. Although it was too late for us to get our contractor back they did apologize for the situation and offered to provide additional material at cost. We would definitely consider doing business with them again in the future based on this latest response. We understand that mistakes can happen but what was so upsetting to us was the company's initial lack of response to our desperate repeated calls. As I said - they seem to have rectified the situation and were genuinely concerned about what happened and I feel they deserve a second chance.

As a Deck & Patio Contractor myself, I like using the best material available for my decks. Advantage Lumber Company is the best for Tigerwood & Ipe'.....The Hardwoods! We always buy from them. Excellent Customer Service and nice clean lumber. Whenever I call them to place and order, I have a smile on my face, a smile knowing that they are saving me money, lots of money. So I either call them or pay 2 employees to go to the lumber yard, sort through bunks of lumber picking out the nicest ones, loading them up on the trailer, hauling them back to the shop, off loading them, setup dado table, dadoing slots down both sides of the decking planks, load them back on trailer. We are handling the decking far more then I would like too... I usually email them my material list, what deck lengths I need or if I want them random lengths. Telling them to dado the sides or not to. They email me a confirmation estimate, I sign it and sent it back. Order is processed. Their delivery is the superb. Usually 7-10 days from when I order. Comes out on their trucks, drivers are nice, willing to help off load. You can't ask for a nicer company to buy from. Advantage Lumber has made a huge difference on how I make my purchase of hardwoods for our decks. They do all the selections, milling and deliveries. They save me valuable time, resources and money, I couldn't be happier! Thank You.

I was looking for decking material and found AdvantageLumber and IPEDepot.com. I wanted to use Ipe for the deck but couldn't source it locally in the lengths that I needed. I contacted IPEDepot.com and subsequently talked to Duane who was able to price out what I needed and helped me specify the minimum 18' lengths of clear Ipe. I placed the order and had the materials the following week. I had to order more plugs as we had to plug more holes that originally anticipated. I would use IpeDepot.com again with no hesitation. The service was excellent, the material was exactly what was advertised and just what we needed to complete the job.
