So this stranger comes to our house with some boards and nails and ideas. When he leaves a few months later, not only is he a friend, but he has transformed our lake front property into a sparkling jewel. The guy is Dan, Decks By Dan. He designs and builds gorgeous decks with great lighting. Of all the deck guys out there, he is the best. He took our ideas, improved them and made them happen. He is creative and thorough and honest. Dan is who he says he is. We now have a wonderful deck/camp ground for grandkids/tree house/party area high in the air off of our screened porch. The trees that shade the deck in the summer invite long conversations and occasional short naps. Dan also redesigned our porch screens and installed his clever sliding screen door. Every home should have one of those. We love and enjoy all of his hard work every day, Call Dan.

Dan's work demonstrates the very definition of “custom” design. For years, I had my heart set on replacing the worn out plastic landscape lights in my yard, and had specific ideas of what I wanted. I invited several companies to provide bids, and I knew Dan was my man the minute we started talking. Unlike the others, Dan was not only able to see the vision I had, but knew exactly how to execute the plans. My 1920’s house had an existing Mission Style fixture over the porch, and I had found at an antique sale two wall sconces that were a similar match. When I told Dan I wanted to convert those 2 wall sconces to post-mounted pathway lights, and showed him a little paper sketch I had drawn out, he didn’t laugh at me or complain like a couple of the other lighting contractors did. He thought they were great and even had an idea for how to match the amber-colored glass of the porch fixture with minimal effort! When I described how I’m not a fan of the ‘blue’ tones many modern LED landscape lights cast, he knew exactly what I meant and promised to achieve the golden glow I wanted on my home. The first night the lighting was installed, I stood out in front of the house and marveled. It was exactly what I wanted! Dan was not the least expensive bid I received, but I am positive he is the ONLY one of the contractors who could have executed the plan exactly as I wanted it.
