Bob and team did an excellent job with my deck. He designed a plan when we first met and followed it through all the way to completion. His team completed the work from start to finish in two weeks from removing the existing pavers to building the deck, and putting on the finishing touches.

There is something about Bob and you sense it immediately. It’s his demeanor. He listens. He is friendly, cooperative, and makes you feel he is a man to be trusted. Set your expectations high and you will not be disappointed. In fact they will be exceeded! As another reviewer stated he takes measurements, and in our case, with some helpful suggestions transformed our vision of our deck remodeling into a drawing right there and then. Decks by Kiefer is professional, courteous, drama-free, timely and the decks are unequaled. It’s all they do and it shows. They use a long-lasting wood so it’s not burning hot like plastic lumber. Our new deck is absolutely everything we had imagined and more.

Bob Kiefer had done work for us in the past. We moved and needed the 1988 deck replaced. We obtained several estimates and he was very competitive and we knew he did quality work from our past experience. He and his crew worked for 3 weeks in May 2016 and we now have a beautiful, sturdy and well constructed deck built with quality materials and understated attractive deck lighting. He also built several raised planters for our garden.

Bob Kiefer is a joy to work with. He is responsive, well-priced, and a master carpenter with access to a first class team. He may also be telepathic, or just have really good taste - not sure which. After interviewing several deck builders, some of whom were very difficult to schedule a visit with, dealing with Bob was like a breath of fresh air. He patiently listened to all of my requests and concerns and sat down and drew a sketch of what I wanted. He then quoted all options as line items within two days. When I came back to him a year later, he didn't write me off, but requoted a modified version and put it in a deck extension with additional trellises, a bar, and 2 gates in a total of three days. I didn't need to micromanage him - everything turned out as I imagined if not better. I needed some small adjustments, which he was able to fit into his schedule at little notice and for which he charged only a site visit fee. I hope I have the opportunity to employ Bob Kiefer again, and I recommend his services without any reservation.

From the moment Bob visited our house to put together a quote, we knew we had the right person for the job. We knew we wanted something a little different (not just a big square deck on the back of the house) and Bob certainly delivered. Where as every other deck contractor we contacted took measurements and then went home for a week to design the space, Bob pulled out a sketch pad while on site and sketched out the deck design right then. He was very willing to make some tweaks here and there to the design and made the entire process painless. When he had a break in his schedule, he got in touch with me and let me know that he and his crew could start the deck early. This happened to be while we were going to be out of town for two weeks. I felt completely comfortable with having Bob and his team work on the deck while we were away. He kept us up to date with pictures along the way and we were ecstatic to come home to our beautiful new deck. The craftsmanship of the work is unbelievable. Every detail, from the railings to just little pieces of wood tucked in behind downspouts were clearly given the utmost attention. The overall product just screams of high quality work. We couldn't be happier with the result and have already recommended Bob to several of our friends.

My Husband and I found Mr Kiefer to be extremely professional and respectful of our needs and suggestions. His expertise and knowledge of materials and design was most impressive as well as helpful in the way the deck and surrounding foundation of the house appears. I've been working with Bob Kiefer for approximately 6 years on a variety of projects, inside and outside my house. The first project involved the tear-down of an existing deck and its replacement with a new Ipe deck and railing system. Bob's demeanor and attention to detail is exemplary. He patiently listens to his customers and thoughtfully considers and incorporates their requests into a very functional yet aesthetically pleasing finished project. After he completed the deck, I was fortunate enough to have him install a coffered ceiling in my dining room and wainscoting in my already finished basement. Again, the quality of his work is superb.
