LA-Decks Backyard and Pool Remodeling

LA Decks did a superb job removing an old deck and replacing it with a gorgeous new, natural wood deck at our home. On time. On budget. Courteous. We could nor ask for more. They are excellent.

Excellent company. Best practices in all aspects of the job. Great crew. Victor came by a few times to check, but the crew was wonderful. Very amenable to any changes we wanted to make. Hand picked all the IPE boards for our 1,000 sq. ft. deck. They sent back probably 25% of the boards because they weren't happy with them. I'm very happy I hired them

After 7 month of searching for the right contractor to work on my complicated backyard situation I meet Noa and Victor. At the first meeting I knew that I will hire them ,but I want to make sure I covered all my options. I meet all deck contractor at the area.. some was waist of time, some were nice but not as good as Noa. She new exactly what need to be done and what is the right way to do that. Victor and the guys were awesome fast professional and clean. Couldn’t ask for better! We renovate the pool,new Ipe deck 1500 sq ft, fire pit and outdoor kitchen for 170k. We started 07/01 and today was the last day of touch ups.

We have had a wonderful experience so far working with LA Decks! Noa is so creative and has come up with ideas that make me so excited about the complete remodel of our backyard including adding a jacuzzi, a built in BBQ and completely updating our pool. We plan to start the project in the fall and have been so appreciative of their patience every step of the way! Noa even completed a beautiful 3D rendering of the project and price matched on items we had other quotes on. I could not recommend this company more, so far, so great!

UPDATE: I feel very lucky to have worked with LA Decks for 2 years now. Our home needed a lot of work and we had to do it in stages. Noa and Victor built us a beautiful 750 sq ft IPE deck, surrounded by a retaining wall and IPE fence with planters, and new front steps. We absolutely love our outdoor area, great for entertaining! Next we moved inside completely remodeling our kitchen, guest bathroom and guest room. LA Decks focuses on outside projects, but they wanted to give me my dream kitchen. Noa was by my side every step of the way from design to engineering, to cabinets, to fixtures and appliances. Our old home had some structural issues we didn't realize but we were able to bring everything up to code in a reasonable amount of time. I'm so grateful to them for working around the clock to make my dreams a reality! The short version: Noa and Victor are honest, hardworking and kind people. I love my deck, fence and retaining wall. Their rates are competitive - I shopped around before hiring them. They are very knowledgeable and I am also working with them to remodel my kitchen and bathroom next. The long version: My husband and I bought a fixer upper in Hollywood Hills - almost 100 years old and not in a good way. We've had to really prioritize what we can and cannot afford to update. About 18 months ago - I was 4 months pregnant and desperate to remodel my master bathroom and bedrooms. I hired a contractor that was referred by a friend (great reviews on Angies List) and it was one of the worst experiences I have ever had. A few months ago my very old and rotten fence started falling over and I was filled with anxiety over hiring someone to fix it. I found LA Decks on Houzz - great reviews, beautiful pictures. I requested a quote/appointment on their website and they contacted me in 20 minutes. Noa stopped by my house a few days later and we really hit it off. She was very honest about what we needed to do and thoughtfully listened to all of my concerns. She is not a salesperson, she is a problem solver. She didn't look at my project as a commission, but rather an opportunity to make my home safer and more enjoyable for my little family. I called 2 other companies with great reviews on Angies List and Houzz - and I still haven't heard back. Noa encouraged me to shop around so I felt comfortable with my bid. Finally I reached someone, who confirmed her rates were very competitive. I had two issues - yes the fence was falling over because it directly touched the grass and dirt and the constant watering had rotted it. I also had very steep steps (not to code) from my kitchen door out onto my patio. I had every intention of sealing the door when we did our kitchen remodel, and installing french doors to the patio from the dining room. Another contractor had given me a very steep price on this, and tried to change my mind on the whole concept. Noa was actually able to install a beautiful accordion door, with a deck to eliminate the need to build new steps.

In 1982, I built a Cedar, L-shaped approximately 1200 sq.ft. deck with wood siding and pipe rails. My five sets of French doors opened onto it, so the deck literally added living space to my home. Approximately 20 feet below that deck is my pool, surrounded by a brick design, and rear rectangular wooden deck that covered the pool equipment. Over the 33 years, the rot and termites finally got the better of it and I had to have it rebuilt. I went on Yelp, read the reviews of deck builders and interviewed three deck companies. Noa and L A Decks was by far the most knowledgeable, and truly understood what I wanted to do. The deck was to come down but the architect's drawings showed a re-designed new deck built upon the foundations of the old deck. Victor was in charge of the day to day demo and re-build. He got the permits needed and we passed each at the first inspections. He worked with my architect and over four months (Sept-Dec 2015) a new Azek deck went up with steel cable sidings. I also decided to remove the brick and pour concrete around the existing pool. The old wooden deck over the pool equipment was also replaced to match the upper deck. The contract price was competitive and each additional cost seemed appropriate. The daily workers were excellent and if I asked them to do something, it was done. The coordination of the huge trash bins placed and removed from my driveway, over and over, went smoothly, as did the day of the concrete pool deck pouring. I would have appreciated more daily communication and I believe the project would have taken less time, if more workers had been here on a consistent basis, but as NO remodel or new build ever goes perfectly - this was pretty close. And I adore the end result, and so does everyone who has seen it.

Great service! Great people! Absolutely the best results i could have hoped for! We had a VERY problematic and attention demanding work to be done (hill side deck, ~1000 sqft, fixing a previous work half done, replanning the deck and what not...), both technically and paperwork-wise (plan approvals, city permits, you name it...) I hired the LA Decks guys to do just the deck, as i heard great reviews and talked to a former client of them (also went to see a similar job done nearby) - but ended up letting them handle ALL the related paperwork, planning, and even the exterior design after the deck was built (turns out they are better interior/exterior designers than my wife is...) Along the entire way i felt like i was getting way more than i paid for, in terms of service and overall scope of activity, and we ended up having the backyard deck of our dreams and i thank them for that!

From the day I called Noa to the day Victor finished the project, I was impressed with their professionalism, trustworthiness, communication, and competence to deliver an awesome product. All individuals who represented LA Decks are respectful of the client. The crew cleans up the area at the end of each day better than any other crew with which I have worked. We couldn't have asked for a better experience. First, they clearly explained the process and managed our expectations then navigated the process of engineering and permitting and approvals. We wanted a one-stop shop for our deck. Most people want the homeowner to get the engineering, get the permits and approvals and they will then do the deck. Not LA Decks. They accepted the challenge of our steep hillside deck and our aesthetic goals. The design was exactly what we wanted to achieve--and more. The attention to detail and quality is top notch. The work gets done right. In terms of dealing with ANY contractor the good people at LA Decks were some of the best I've had the good fortune of working with.

LA Decks recently provided excellent service in building a large IPE deck surrounding our pool. Noa's design services were crucial given the complexities of building in a small space with two septic systems. Multiple access points were required with varying levels of the deck. Victor's structural decisions made it possible to achieve the look we wanted with the IPE. The company was easy to work with when changes were required in the building process. I highly recommend LA Decks and will use them for future projects.

I hired LA Decks to rebuild our deck at our Silver Lake home. Both Victor and Naama are incredibly knowable about different types of wood and decking materials. They are both very professional and always willing to walk you though the building process, which could be overwhelming. Victor and the crew were always on time and very clean and organized at the job site. We ran into small problems with the city but Victor was able to work well with the Inspector and make the necessary changes to our initial design. We are thrilled with our deck. I hired LA Decks in August of 2012 to refinish my existing deck and change the would railing to glass. They also built benches under my gazebo and two separate bbq islands in my backyard.
