Our family loves our Modern Shed. The entire process was smooth and thorough. Trevor explained all the options available to us to make sure all our needs were met, and the final project is better than we expected. Pedro and his team that put the Modern Shed together were great and their attention to detail was spot on. We looked at other companies, and we ultimately choose Modern Shed because of their professionalism and ability to customize the shed to our liking. Best decision ever.

We ordered a 10x12 shed, which we're now using as an office. Trevor, our primary contact, made the whole experience straightforward, easy-to-understand, and very nearly painless. The builders, Hannah and Joe from Protech, were professional, quick, and a delight to work with (they even answered our six-year-old's endless questions with grace). We're happy with the quality project, done quickly and efficiently!

We have had an amazing work experience working with the Modern Shed from design, to installation, and post installation. When we moved to our new home we needed some additional room quickly for an office and work out room and couldn’t be happier with our unique unit. We highly recommend Modern Shed for a unique look and good customer service.

We feel in love with Modern Shed. We have a shed style modern home on a lake in Wisconsin and we wanted a modern looking art studio for a creative space and a connecting garage. Trevor worked with us to design both buildings that would fit perfectly on our lot next to our home. We were very pleased with Trevor being open to our ideas and allowing us to design this space from scratch. We love how our space and design meets our needs. Trevor and his team were very knowledgeable and quick to answer our questions and always made himself available to us. We had a lot of questions and ideas to bounce off Trevor, and he was very patient with us, We also can not say enough about the construction team. Hannah and her crew were such hard workers and took pride in the quality of their work. They kept us apprised of the construction every day letting us know what was happening and what was next. The completed studio and garage are such an asset to our lives, we are so happy with our decision to go with Modern Shed!

Live in Seattle, had Modern Shed installed as a study/call room back in 2013. During the pandemic it became a full time office and was very helpful. However, starting about 1-2 years ago we are experiencing some settling on one side now, and there's not much we can do except teardown or rebuild. It really depends on the contractor that installs it, even with prefab parts. Good materials, good design, etc but unfortunately it will not last as long as our house.

We had a great experience with Trevor during the design process. He was helpful, practical, and accessible. He made sure we were aware of each step and had all of the information we needed to make decisions. We had an equally good experience with our builder, Brian. He was very responsive and friendly. He did a great job with the build and made sure we were happy with every detail.

I purchased a 12 x 15 unit with Modern Shed to use as my Art Studio. I live in LA, and very little here is straightforward when it comes to building or putting anything on your property. So I had to have this permitted - which, combined with what contractors charge in LA, resulted in a very long, complicated, and expensive process. Saying that, my contact at Modern Shed, Trevor Hynson, was one of those people who restore your faith in humanity in terms of being a decent human being. He really listened to and took on board what I needed as an artist for my particular design, working with me on various iterations until I was happy. Then he got knee-deep involved in our permitting process, always being on hand to answer questions and act as liaison between his engineers and our permitting people. He didn't disappear once the sale had been made, but stuck with me through the complexities we experienced with our build. He was conscientious, proactive, and professional throughout. A genuine credit to the reputation of his company. A quick note: The construction of the shed itself was not complicated - rather as part of our permit, we were required to install a sump pump which dramatically complicated things and added expense to the process. Modern Shed did initially send the wrong siding. My contractor (who charged me a separate fee to receive and unload the materials) did not check what he had received against the drawings. It was only as he was about to finish and I asked if what he had installed was the underlay, that we caught the error. Modern Shed remedied the situation immediately and sent the correct siding, but it did constitute a delay in our build. The two greatest challenges I experienced with my shed was finding a reputable contractor here in LA, and the permitting process. While not specific to Modern Shed, these are things to consider with any company you plan on buying a pre-fabricated structure from and having it installed. And if you are permitting, you have to factor in increased cost and time to your project. I believe Modern Shed have subsequently restructured their process in terms of having a list of reputable and competitively priced contractors they can refer you to, as well as a dedicated engineering team that help advise with permitting etc. A bit like childbirth, once the worst of it is over - the contractors have left, the final inspection is approved, and you have all of your stuff inside, you forget all the pain and frustrations and can only focus on how in love you are. In my case, with my beautiful art studio which has a great modern look designed to my specific needs, and is an oasis of calm from the noise of my family and the world at large. In summary, my experience with Modern Shed was overall a positive one - they are reputable and reliable, and if Trevor Hynson is anything to go by, they have really great people working there.

Had an amazing experience w/ Modern-Shed for the design and build out of our ADU. We needed additional space for our family and wanted a home office/gym/guest suite. Trevor was great from the first meeting, Mike was great tweaking the design to fit our needs, and Derek/Paul did an amazing job installing it. We couldn't be happier with the finished product and overall process. Highly recommend to anyone looking for an ADU and/or shed or tiny home.

We just had our custom Modern Shed completed and it’s very nice. Trevor Hynson was more than helpful in creating the custom elements. It blends in perfectly with our, modern, Japanese Style home. Hannah Montgomery headed up the install team. Her experience as a finish carpenter proved itself in the overall finish. We would recommend them and use them again if we need another building on our property.

We décides in 2024 that we needed dedicated offices spaces as both my partner and I worked from home and wanted separation from our home and children lives. We investigated many options: expanding our house, loosing our garage and finally decided that building separate units was the best way to go as we had enough space for it. We contacted multiple companies and only felt comfortable when we started speaking with Trevor Hynson at Modern-Shed. Most other we contacted seemed restricted in what they offered and defaulted (our feeling) to “this are the 4 sizes and 3 options we have”. With Trevor it became more creative and we designed easily options for our vision that he admitted “we’ve never done one like this before but sure we can!”. The process was easy, we are à family that likes to built things but we were under time pressure and needed a quicker turnaround than building it ourselves could offer. Trevor introduced us to a contractor that we hired to do other project since. The offices have now been operating for almost à year and are absolutely fantastic. We couldn’t be happier and couldn’t recommend the company more. Trevor was great, so was Jon Clearwater. Very happy customers here.

Had a great experience working with Trevor Hynson, and the resulting project turned out absolutely amazing and met my every expectation and more. Trevor was very easy to work with. He is a great guy but more important he knows his stuff and was professional, had good ideas, and made the process a lot easier! I 100% recommend Modern Shed for their design, and the business seems to be well organized. On top of a great design and purchase experience, the build was a great experience due to Pedro Chavarilla, the installing contractor! Pedro is such a hardworking and honest guy. He was so great to work with. He handled everything, both the good and problems that arose. He remained helpful, accommodating, and willing to go above and beyond! Can’t say enough about how good Pedro is. The whole experience was positive and result is an amazing 12’ x 18’ wood shop in my backyard, yet the building looks like a high end ADU and enhances the landscape!!!!

I had a wonderful experience with many Modern Shed representatives and affiliates designing, and building the art studio of my dreams. My “shed” was a large 14’ x16’ concrete foundation and stucco building, with upgraded windows/ sliding doors on all four walls, not an easy build. Every bit of this structure was designed and created to my specifications and customizations. The structure is built better than the existing 1964 era house on our site, and was designed so well that it looks like it always has been there, says my husband. The process was pretty smooth, and any slight and inevitable bumps in the construction process were immediately taken care of by the Modern Shed team. Shout out to the wonderful team getting the building quickly approved in our exacting city and state, and rising to the challenge of any unforeseen paperwork/explanations to keep the process going forward. It’s not easy to build in our area, and our studio was built a lot faster than traditional builds due to the help of Modern Shed’s project manager and architect. ( Thank you Trevor and Mike!) Pedro, our Modern Shed recommended contractor, was also great to deal with, professional, accommodating, and eager to please. His resulting build was top notch. Ed, our Modern Shed recommended electrician, installed multiple outlets, 110 and 240 volts, and multiple circuits of overhead and outdoor lighting, as well as many specific and difficult outlets for various studio functions, ( and interfacing with cabinet maker ) with care and expertise. I can’t thank the team enough for such a wonderful studio. my Modern Shed studio went beyond my expectations.
