Highly recommend . They took my old wooden deck down and put in a beautiful, modern composite deck. Best customer service experience I have had in years. We established a fair price and discussed specifications prior to the estimate. Then a crew that came was large enough to do the job efficiently and professionally, they didn’t need to ask a bunch of follow up questions, and they showed up timely every day working full days until the job was done. We are so happy with the work that the OnDeck team did to resurface our deck with TimberTech synthetic decking materials and new railings. The entire project was completed in a week, and the entire team was a delight to work with. They were even able to create a special access panel to a water spigot that is located under the deck so that I can access it, which is something I have never been able to use in the 14 years we have lived here. Phil and his crew did a great job. Demolition of the old deck was quick and clean. I went on a short vacation after they poured the piers for the new deck and came home to a beautiful outdoor area to relax and entertain in. Would definitely use them again.

Where do I begin? From the beginning, OnDeck stood out because of their responsiveness and follow through. We started our deck replacement a year before we should have and spoke to two contractors. OnDeck was definitely the most helpful; instead of trying to upsell me, Phil and Santo educated me and gave me my options, as well as a very reasonable quote. We ultimately decided to push the project back a year. When we followed up, Phil got right back to me and had kept all of his work from the year before (in contrast, the deck guys that our very expensive contractor recommended never even contacted me after their office said that they’d give me a call). This was all before we even started, for what was supposed to be a smaller project. Yet we were never made to feel less important. As it turned out, our project got bigger and bigger (mostly because of what we wanted) and Phil incorporated our changes, including a last minute change, with grace, good humor, and no drama. And when the tear off revealed an underlying problem, our crew worked with our landscaper to get it taken care of. The crew are all employees who really know what they are doing. They even replaced siding on our house that had rotted where the old and improperly installed deck had failed to drain. There’s that old saying that with home improvement projects, between time, quality, and cost, you can only get two. I feel like we got all three. Friends of ours who live in a different suburb got a quote for their initial tear off that was double what ours was (with a different contractor, of course). The deck looks amazing. And there’s still time to use it before the summer is over. I feel like I didn’t have to compromise on anything with OnDeck. We’ve been homeowners for more than thirty five years and have lived through so many stressful home improvement projects. And I don’t think I’ve ever had one go so well, from the beginning (before we even signed a contract) to the end. I can’t recommend OnDeck highly enough.

This is a great company. They do quality work. We have a deck that needed to be replaced We have a very large deck (1700 sq-ft) that is on three levels, with a complex geometry... They had the resources to design a new deck. The design required the assistance of a structural engineer to do the design to meet current codes. OnDeck was one of the few companies in the Chicago area that could manage a job of this size. They were great to work with.

OnDeck did a great job with replacing our deck. Santo and his team were polite and professional. I had some specific requests for the construction that Phil easily accommodated. There was one small thing that got missed but they came back and fixed it right away. Overall the construction and design was great and a huge improvement over what we had before. OnDeck/Outdoor is an exceptional deck builder. I had 3 deck builder finalists and provided RFP's to each and OnDeck was the most responsive by taking a lot of time to look over my project for planning purposes. Phil also drove me around to see other decks that OnDeck had built. My project entailed a wrap-around Azek/PVC deck in coordination with a structural engineer, architect, and several structural (the GC) and window contractors. The crew, led by Santo, was extremely professional. The other contractor firms remarked about how easy it was to coordinate and work together with Santo's team. They are not only deck builders, but have experience with building homes which came in handy for my somewhat complicated project. I am extremely happy with the deck and railing and would highly recommend OnDeck if you are considering building a deck, especially if it is a wrap-around or has custom features. The follow-through service has been fantastic. In fact, one of the other contractors damaged a few deck boards, and OnDeck replaced them for free.

Working with OnDeck was a pleasure. We hired them to refurbish our upper wooden deck with composite boards, an aluminum railing system, and a Zip ceiling. We found OnDeck with a Google search. After initial contact with a live voice, Phil contacted us the next day and scheduled a Zoom meeting to meet, followed by an in-person meeting for assessment and planning. He was on time for the appointments, friendly, knowledgable and professional. Santo and his experienced building team did not let inclement weather stop them, and they were here to remove the old structure to the joists in between a deep freeze. They completed the job in a friendly, timely and neat manner while communicating with us about our concerns throughout the project, like caulking for any potential leaks. Nataliya, the office manager, was consistently available to handle any of our questions or concerns, and she followed up after project completion to ensure we were completely satisfied. This is a family business that really works well together. We would hire them in the future and will recommend them to friends and family.

I highly recommend On Deck if you are in need of deck repairs. Their finish carpenters replaced 6 rotting cedar posts on my deck while preserving the integrity of the railing and boards. The work was very professionally done and now my deck looks great again. And best of all, I had them install retractible Renson screens in a covered area so that in the warm weather, I will have a screened-in porch at the touch of a remote button. We were re-doing the patio right off our kitchen and were looking for a louvered pergola type structure to provide cover from sun and rain. As we wanted to make the most of our outdoor space, we wanted something that would create a “4-season room” like solution (although we did not want it to look like a 4-season room) that we could enjoy most of the year with fan, screens, lights and big enough for a large dining table to entertain, etc without added support columns. We were focused on design aesthetics that would integrate with our home style. Quality, durability etc were table stakes. We contacted several outdoor/patio companies offering pergolas to discuss our plans and needs. We searched the web and read a lot of reviews about louvered pergolas and homeowner experiences. We routinely read advice noting the pergola installer skills are just as (and maybe more) important than the pergola manufacturer. With that in mind, we wanted to hire a trusted, local company that has a long-lasting reputation in outdoor construction. We did our research, obtained several bids and chose OnDeck and the Renson Algarve Pergola. From the early planning stages to final installation, Phil and Santo and the rest of OnDeck crew were attentive and a pleasure to deal with. The office folks and the installation crew (seasoned, gifted craftsmen) are amazing. Now we’re enjoying our new pergola which is a freestanding Algarve that includes LED lights, fan, retractable screens, sliding door and wind/rain sensors. Philip and the team at OnDeck were very professional, responsive, and very willing to assist in exploring a motorized louver pergola for our new home build. Without a deck we didn’t have use of our outdoor space and no way to enjoy the lake view. When we bought the house, we were given the seller’s architectural drawings for a deck they planned to build. Initially we planned to build that deck as designed, until we met Phil Spatafora at OnDeck. When Phil came to see the space and review the original plans, he challenged the original design (saying it was too much and too big for the space and would be too expensive – far more than our planned budget) and asked if we’d be open to an alternative design approach. We appreciated Phil’s honesty and desire to get creative with a different approach that would better match the aesthetic of the house, give us a beautiful outdoor living space and work within our budget. This was partnership we wanted. The partnership we experienced during the design and contracting phase continued with the construction of the deck. Led by Santo Spatafora, the OnDeck crew was wonderful to work with. The communication with us was excellent – we always knew what was happening and when. They partnered with us to creatively solve unexpected challenges, were very friendly (especially with our dogs) and showed a great sense of pride for their work, which is evident in the quality of the work. Their team is informative and helps you to make the best choice without trying to upsell or provide something that one does not require. Working with Natilya and Phil was a very positive experience without any feeling of pressure. They also were great at providing options that fit our needs, even if it is something they don't provide.

Last summer, we had a sump pump fail in our finished basement. We reached out to a contractor we had previously worked with, but after our initial meeting, they kept promising to provide a quote, but all we got were stall tactics. We then started looking for other contractors on Houzz. Through this search we found OnDeck. The OnDeck team quickly reached out to us and we had our first meeting with Phil shortly thereafter. At our initial meeting we shared with Phil some of the design options we were considering as well as our budget. Phil gave us several ideas on how we could be cost efficient while maintaining the quality and look we wanted, stay on budget and keep the timeline tight. The quote and timeline we received were exactly what we were hoping for. One thing we really appreciated is how clear, concise and detailed the contract was. Since our daughter was getting married right after Christmas in the middle of construction, we wanted to have the basement usable for Christmas and didn’t want construction going on around the time of the wedding. The OnDeck team was very flexible and willing to do the work in two phases. The first phase included adding the storage/work room, repairing the damaged drywall, installing new luxury vinyl plank and carpet, electrical upgrades, new lighting and paint. The first phase went quick and we loved how it looked. That alone was a significant upgrade for the basement. Al and Ken from OnDeck did most of the work and they were great to work with. They were both very professional, helpful and more than met our expectations every step of the way. They kept everything clean, always showed up when they were expected, were communicative and did very high-quality work. We’ve used contractors for various projects in the past. And while the craftsmanship was always of high-quality, each of them were less reliable and timely than we expected. In all instances, everyone from OnDeck and all of their subs arrived when they were expected. With OnDeck, we had no surprises along the way, including on costs and timeline. When phase 2 started, we still had some decisions to be made as we had changed the layout for the dry bar, added a second cabinet in a niche and completely changed the TV/fireplace wall design. Al worked through design options with us, as we weren’t sure what we wanted for the mantle or the hearth. For the mantle, he recommended a piece of reclaimed lumber they had and keeping it in its rough finish. He also suggested using stacked stone for the mantle with a quartz top. The TV/fireplace wall looks amazing. Al also built the top for the memorabilia cabinet using two pieces of reclaimed wood and a similar rough finish. In addition, to design help, the OnDeck team made specific material recommendations that saved us well over $3,000 along the way. The finished product looks fantastic and we love spending time in our new basement. We highly recommend OnDeck and will definitely be using them for future projects.

Unfortunately, the siding company we hired the next year weren't careful and scuffed a few of the composite boards significantly. Thankfully, they took responsibility and covered the cost of replacement. Of course, I contracted OnDeck to do this work and again they did a fantastic job. They were able to fit my relatively small job into their busy schedule and made us happy again.

Originally we had a wood deck that was in a very bad state. We contacted OnDeck and the experience was outstanding from beginning to end. They tore down our old deck in less than a day, installed vapor barrier to prevent moisture underneath, and built our new Timbertech composite deck in its place. It looks beautiful and is better than my wife and I imagined. The crew was always on time and respectful to our property and Phillip, Santo, and Nataliya were great to work with. Phil came out and explained our options and were immediately impressed by his knowledge, demeanor and NOT a pushy salesman. He sent us a very detailed and professional estimate and we didn't need to look anywhere else. Santo and his crew showed up every day on time, working hard in the hot sun until it was completed. Not once did they ever ask me for anything. They were such hard workers, super nice guys and very respectful of me, my dogs and my property. Once the old deck was removed, you never know what is behind it, and we saw rotting wood but they had an easy solution. They recently replaced our basement ceiling and lighting and completely renovated our fireplace and hearth, adding wood cabinets and bookcases on each side and crafting a beautiful wooden mantel as well. They do excellent work and all involved are very professional, helpful and creative with suggestions and guidance. Their initial quote was on target, but they are fair with charges added for any additional work that might be added as a project progresses. They conferred with us about any decisions that came up along the way, and delivery of materials as well as removal of debris was prompt and efficient. Phil, Sergio and all their guys were phenomenal. They turned a disaster of an old deck into a new and beautiful one. They were at the job almost every day until it was complete and the odd days that they couldn't be here, I knew about well ahead of time. We have a 800sq foot deck, which is not small. Because the prior ledger wasn't attached to the house, the footings sank and everything needed to be redone. They ripped out everything and redid it quicker than I thought it would be done. And they left the job clean everyday so that my kids and dog could still roam around the backyard exploring what they had completed for the day. I highly recommend OnDeck if you are looking to get work done.

On deck did an extensive deck build in conjunction with a full back yard outdoor space remodel we were having done.
