Our old deck was badly in need of repair. We contacted Pulsar Construction for a quote. Alex came out the next day and spent considerable time assessing our current deck, giving us some wise suggestions to replace the entire deck with proper foundations rather than replacing only the deck boards. Alex gave us a very detailed quote which we were happy with. We were fortunate that Alex was able to start the job the very next week and that the weather was good except it was quite cold. Alex and his crew worked on our deck project every day until it was completed. They left the jobsite very neat and tidy at the end of every day. The finished deck is a testament to Alex's attention to detail, his extensive experience in construction, his knowledge of building code and the deck is built "better than code" . Composite Deck Alex came out the day after I requested a quote to replace our aging backyard deck. After listening to what we wanted he took a lot of time to explain what would, and what wouldn't work well. He offered a variety of suggestions and options, and then provided a very thorough quote. The purchase and installation of a new hot tub led to a Google search to find a qualified builder to design and construct not only an aesthetically pleasing hot tub deck enclosure, but also a deck that would provide safe and easy access. My husband and I are extremely grateful that our Google search led us to Pulsar Construction. When he visited our home, he took the time to explain our options, show us samples, and to suggest a lower ground level deck that would tie into the hot tub deck enclosure, making our sloped and smaller back yard far more useable. After his site inspection, Alex provided an incredibly detailed drawing and quote. We opted for the full design option consisting of both the hot tub and lower back yard decks, and we could not be more pleased. For materials, we selected the TimberTech Azek Polymer Decking Vintage Collection in English Walnut with accent picture framing around the decks in Dark Hickory and we are in love with the finished result! This Polymer decking material is amazing: we love that it does not get uncomfortably hot in the sun and the textured grain is perfect for the hot tub application as well as our climate in B.C. Alex has an engineering background and his meticulous attention to detail has truly left us in awe. Throughout the project, he and his helper provided great communication. The job site was always clean and tidy and the final clean up perfect. A true craftsman, Alex has built us a safe hot tub deck enclosure and a lower ground extension which will allow our family to enjoy our backyard in a way that was not possible before. Alex did a fantastic job building our split level deck, transforming our backyard into what is now our favourite place to entertain, hang out, and just relax. Replace rear deck and substructure. Pulsar poured new concrete footings, built foundation and installed composite decking. All work was completed in a highly professional and timely manner. We are delighted with our new deck and would not hesitate to recommend Alex.
