Summerwood Products

On July 8th, 2019 I purchase and 8 by 10 foot shed from Summerwood Products, (Sensitive Information Hidden) For the amount of $12,803.74 with a 2 year warranty, installed August 28th, 2019. Summer of 2021, last year of the warranty, I was housebound due to an injury. Summer 2022, I entered the shed and was shocked at the amount of water damage there was in the shed. The floor, the door and all horizontal boards from the roof line down. None of the corners, window frames and door frames were sealed. Sunlight was visible through most of the horizontal boards and knot holes. I contacted the company July 11th, 2022 and eventually dealt with Mr. (Sensitive Information Hidden) Harvey, President and CEO of the company. He insisted that I had an automatic sprinkler system on my property which was causing the problem. I do not. Sheds are purchased to store and protect items and the fact that it leaks as much as it does is very disappointing. But more so, even though the warranty was past, the president of the company did not address the problem and stand behind his product. The theory is that the cedar was not seasoned and over a period of 2 years dried after installation and shrunk creating gaps large enough that the sunlight was visible through the horizontal boards allowing rainwater to enter the bulding. The theory on the cracked window, it fit snuggly in the frame and as the shed settled it put pressure on the glass and it cracked. Mr. Harvey offered to replace the window for $490.00. I declined, he did advise me however to “go to any local hardware store, purchase caulking and have it installed between the pieces of siding”. . Eventually, after 37 e-mails and 10 months an employee came to my property and sealed all horizontal boards, windows, etc. Rainwater was still entering the building and puddling on the floor. I hired a handy man who noticed the threshold board under the door slanted to the interior of the shed. He shimmed it up and problem solved. If you wish to purchase from this company, I encourage you to negotiate a 3 year contract, the amount of time unseasoned wood takes to dry out.

Had a great experience with my first Cabana which I had them install. Since I had such a good experience I decided to purchase a kit, boy was that a bad idea. I called the day it was supposed to be delivered to find out that they had not even manufactured it which was an issue since it was already late october and the point of buying this was to protect $25000 worth of furniture. I was then told it would be ready in December. I told them this was not acceptable and they moved it to late November. As this is pretty much winter I asked them to supply some installers (which I would have paid) and as of today I still have not received a reply. I have tried to install the unit between snow storms and rain but now I am trying to get instaructions for installing the french doors I have received no response again. I understand that Covid was an issue this year but I ordered this unit in June and I believe this is extremely unacceptable. So in short their products are great if you get them to install them but if you are looking for any support I would stay away from them. I need a 25X 17 unit next year and I will be going elsewhere to ensure I am not in the middle of winter trying to get support.

Overall very good experience and quality. The only minor issue were i know my carpeters had to buy a few things there were not included nails and a few other minor things which i sont recall. One of the door metal parts was the wrong size 1 large, 1 medium so you has to ship one. But the quality was excellent and it all fit together. It did take my 2 carpeters alot longer to build than your estimate. Last minor this is i ask multible times for additional wood shelving brackets in lou of the $100 or $150 picture credit but got the check anyway. ID still like to get 6 wood shelf brackets foe more shelving. O and i had ask you to put tge windows higher on the walks which you did but then the crown molding you sent would not fit in the remaining space. That shouldnt have happened. But again these are minor things

Excellent service from start to finish, great team effort and the product is top quality. Have nothing but good things to say about all aspects of this experience from John helping with the design, Ana doing an amazing job scheduling, organizing,and (most importantly) communicating with us, and Ian and the installation teams attention to detail. First class all the way! My only advice to a buyer is be prepared to have to wait (about 8 weeks) for the scheduled production of the product. It’s well worth the wait! They clearly communicated when it would be in production and it was done, delivered and installed on schedule. Great job!

The work was done in a professional manner with an excellent result. Everything fits properly, and the site was cleaned up properly. The crew showed up on time, and finished the job in one day, despite a delay caused by rain. We are very pleased with this shed.

We are very pleased with the quality of the product, but did have minor issues with how long it took to get a replacement ladder, as the original ladder arrived damaged. I ended up driving to your facility to pick up the replacement ladder as a delivery date to my cottage was uncertain.

Excellent customer service only matched by top quality product! We love our 2 sheds - a potting shed and a lean-to. We would definitely recommend to friends.

The quality of the product beautiful. The materials and craftsmanship are top notch and the process from the beginning through the end was easy given the level of personal customer service.

Have been planning this for several years, been in and out of contact with summerwood about questions, costs, and prep needed, ordering was easy, reception of pre-assembled kit could have been better explained, took me and 5 others-2 hours to unpack and unload all the pieces,some of which weighed 300 pounds+, looking back I might have gotten the pre-cut kit, but it was fun putting it together with friends, service consult calls were generally answered within the hour, instructions manual are updated but still missing some easier verbiage, and some trim assembly instructions were completely missing, but was able to get Er done, numbering of pieces could be better,ie. numbered and colour coded, rather than just numbered, some pieces unlabeled, but lots extra pieces included. ALL IN ALL A WONDERFUL INVESTMENT

The whole experience was top notch. The Summerwood team was available to chat and email ideas back and forth, and made the process very easy and understandable. This was my first build; we bought a pre-cut Palmerston. Delivery was on time and instructions were clear and easy. Highly recommended and would use them again.
