After hearing so many horror stories from my friends about their home remodeling projects, I wanted to give a 5-star shout-out to 5th Generation Contracting for the amazing job they did on the screened porch addition to my house. Our new porch is a showpiece and has made the other rooms in my home virtually obsolete, as we spend most of our time out there. Each of their employees is highly professional, very polite, and works very hard to get the job done in a high-quality, timely manner. The project manager was very personable and emailed me nightly updates of the work performed each day, along with their plans for the next day. 5th Generation was very responsive to our needs, and questions were answered immediately. They removed our existing deck and fully completed the addition in two months. It would probably have been completed sooner had I not made changes to the plan mid-stream. Their prices are not the lowest you’ll find, but they’re also not the highest. Our new addition has increased the value of our home significantly, and I wholeheartedly recommend 5th Generation for any home remodeling project.

My wife and I cannot say enough good things about 5th Generation. Great communicators. They have a menu of very capable subcontractors. Having workers in our house could have been very stressful, but all of them were very sensitive about their presence in our home. The quality of work was excellent. I highly recommend 5th Generation. We used them twice with different project managers, but both were superior.

Have used 5th Gen in the past and have been very pleased. Have recommended them to friends who have also said they were pleased. They are my go to general contractor.

We used 5th Generation to do a complete remodel of our basement (demolition down to the studs) and major updates to our master bathroom. We could not be happier with their work. Our project manager, Eric, was an absolute dream to work with, and went above and beyond to make sure we were happy. We definitely will use them for future renovations!

I could not be happier with the choice I made to hire 5th Generation Contracting. This was my second project with 5th Generation. The second and more recent project included all new Pella windows, shiplap, built-in bookshelves, painting and can lights. The workers showed up on time each day. They were neat, clean, friendly and very knowledgeable. The carpenters were precise and detailed-oriented. Subtle and exacting design choices made for perfect symmetry as the trim, shiplap and built-in bookshelves made a unique and custom project look awesome. The perfectly-placed LED can lights look great. And the painter was the best. After the initial project was complete I requested he stay and paint five more rooms. The products, the people and the process were exceptional. I highly recommend 5th Generation. PS: The inspiration for a major portion of this project came from photos found on houzz. This website is fantastic!

I am posting this review because 5th Generation is repeatedly texting me asking for a review. I cannot strongly enough suggest that you use any company but 5th Generation. Our experience was that the quality of the work was poor (to the extent that the safety of our home and family were in jeopardy) as was the integrity of the individuals that we dealt with.
We hired 5th Gen several years ago to do a significant home renovation including a full kitchen remodel, complete rewiring of our home (at their recommendation), painting, building out of a laundry room, etc. We specifically modified their template agreement so that any changes in the price agreed/scope of work would have to be set forth in a change order we both signed.
I could write pages on challenges that we had with 5th Generation but will provide two examples. Our contract included a “complete rewiring” of our home - we believed all of the wires in our home would be replaced and that all of the work performed by the electricians (installing new lights throughout the house, adding a new electrical panel, etc.) was completed and performed properly. We began having issues (fuses repeatedly popping) and brought in another electrician as we kept getting the run around from 5th Gen and comments about how although the contract said complete rewrite it didn’t really mean that. We’re not electricians so we brought one in to look at the work and diagnose the problem. What he found was our attic was filled from one end to the other with random parts and exposed wiring that the electricians had left behind, literally laying exposed in the insulation. After providing pictures to 5th Gen they cleaned the area up - we were fortunate the house didn’t burn down as we never would have seen this dangerous situation. The wiring/fuses also were a mess - we had the fuses, electrical panel and much of the wiring that 5th Gen did redone so that we could have several lights on in 1 room without fuses popping.
At the end of the job (we were frustrated with how poorly the project had gone and 5th Gen was fed up with us for repeatedly bringing issues to their attention) they provided us with a final bill that was $1,000+ over the agreed amount with all of the change orders. When we asked why they advised that they had gotten a bigger bill from the cabinet vendor for additional work we’d asked for. We explained we did not ask for additional work — there were 2 items they needed to redo because they weren’t done properly - 5th Gen was copied on all communication with the vendor. The contract was between 5th Gen and the vendor and was for them to deal with if the amounts weren’t what was expected. We paid the full amount per the contract. 5th Gen’s response was to put a lien on our home. We spoke to an attorney but the net was by that point the amount we would’ve incurred in legal fees + the arbitration clause in the agreement didn’t make it worthwhile to pursue.
We learned of 5th Gen from our real estate agent who admittedly just knew that they had done some work at her church. Our fault for not doing better due diligence - our agent along with us learned the hard way. Save yourself the time, expense, frustration and safety issues and hire another company.

Overall we are happy with the end results of our new kitchen. We did have several issues during the project and have also had issues afterwards. Luke, our Project Manager did a great job in communicating the progress and was an advocate for us.

We apologize our IT company mistakenly reached out to you 4 years after your project. We appreciate your feedback and regret your expectations were not met.
We believe it is important to clarify that the photos you posted are of work previously left behind by other contractors. When you asked us to remove the unused wires and fixtures, we cleaned up their debris at no cost to you.
All of our work was done by a licensed electrician and was inspected and approved by the Code Enforcement Inspectors at the City of Sandy Springs under the building permit.
We wish all the best for you and Tim.
