ADR is an outstanding company. Bret (the president/owner) is incredibly responsive, engaged, and immediately available. the budget estimate was spot on, and when there were savings, Brett passed those on to us, and when there was more work necessary (unexpected complications, our request for in-project changes) he was clear, communicative, and transparent. Chris and Matt were the carpenter/assistant team who handled our project, and both were a pleasure to work with and to have in our home. Chris is a perfectionist who, in addition to being a highly skilled carpenter, is truly an expert at cabinet installation, tile work, metal work, and coordinating subcontractors. In contrast to other companies, where literally everything is subcontracted out, Chris and Matt did essentially all of the work themselves, from demolition to framing to tile prep to a cabinet installation, with only plumbing, electrical, and countertop installation subbed out. This meant that there was never any waiting on subcontractors or non-productive days. With regards to subcontractors, both the plumbers and electricians were top-notch, doing quality work on time and within budget. We will definitely use ADR again for future projects.

The team at ADR Builders were excellent to work with from start to finish. They were friendly, organized, highly communicative, and always collaborative. Like with any big project, we experienced some unforeseen challenges along the way--mainly due to some drainage issues in our house's 100-year-old foundation. The team was quick to help find effective solutions that kept the project on track. We couldn't be happier with the final product, and we'd definitely use them again.

I highly recommend ADR BUILDERS. ADR builders Andy and Andres demolished our old porch and constructed a modestly large screened-in porch that is beautiful and solid as a rock. I watched in amazement as they did it all by themselves. Unbelievable! The porch is great looking from all angles. They didn't cut any corners either (pun). I will hire them again for any further projects.

ADR was totally professional at every level. They used the latest technology to enhance our understanding of the plan, sent us detailed spread sheets of progress and bill explanation and have very skilled and helpful employees. I especially appreciated Chris as the project manager and Sarah as the designer. Both showed excellent knowledge in their field and when extra research was required, they went above and beyond to get the answers and even give us a choice of options. We are thrilled with our new kitchen, as well as with our experience with ADR builders. We did a complete kitchen re-do, with a few add-ons including replacing the back door and a some windows. Bret and his team handled the project from start to finish, including kitchen design and choice of materials, and were incredibly professional. Bret was great to work with and was very responsive to our needs and questions. Sarah went to showrooms with us and provided great guidance on choosing cabinets, hardware, tile, and fixtures. We were assigned a work team, Andy and Andres, who were always there and who ensured the house stayed as clean as possible during construction. They set up a surprisingly workable temporary kitchen in our dining room and even lent us a portable electric oven + burners. We really appreciated their skill and ability to handle anything, including the unpleasant discovery of extensive termite damage when they pulled up the old floor. Bret gave us choices for repairing it, which we appreciated. Now we have a beautiful new oak floor on top of structurally sound joists! We are enjoying our new kitchen, which is a fantastic space for cooking and entertaining, in addition to being beautiful. We highly recommend ADR builders!

A little over a year ago I started interviewing contractors for a project at Rosebank in Baltimore. I was redoing my kitchen, a small room behind the kitchen and my deck. I was doing this in memory of my husband who was the cook of the family and he always wanted a good kitchen to work in. Our kitchen at the time had seen quite a few years of wear and tear and it was ready for a new look. I was finally able to start this project last year and as soon as Bret walked into my home I knew it was him who I wanted to do my project. We walked and talked through some ideas and I made the decision to start the work. I met Sarah, my wonderful designer and she took me around to pick out the cabinets at Northfield Kitchens where Sean was super easy to work with. We finished our selections of the other products I would need and work began. I had two wonderful fellows, Corey and Tyler who worked on the project. They were great to have around and walked me through everything they were doing. I was so happy with the end results. Everything is so beautiful and all my friends and relatives just love how everything turned out. I love sitting out on my new deck in the summertime and I know my husband is smiling down as I have finally gotten the knack of cooking! Thank you Bret, Sarah, Corey and Tyler and all the other workers who came in to finish up the job and give me such a beautiful space! I love it! Now I have to save my pennies so I can have you redo my upstairs bathroom! Thanks again Bret for a wonderful job.

From our first meeting with Bret, to the amazing design by Sarah and the workmanship and attention to detail of Chris and Trey we couldn't be happier with our renovation. Everyone was always on time every time and they were so considerate of our space and us during the entire 13 weeks they were in our home. We would highly recommend ADR Builders to anyone looking for a professional, hard working and dedicated team.

We wanted a design-build firm for our project because we were making significant changes to our third floor. ADR was very professional in the initial evaluation, plan and estimate, and impressed us with their thoroughness and good communication. Sarah was very responsive in providing the design we wanted in the space we had, and the construction crew was very competent, polite and reliable. They were very good about letting us know what they had done each day and what the plans were for the next day. When they found problems, we were provided with details and options for dealing with the issues. They were great about consulting with us on all the details, such as fixtures, paints, etc. We are very pleased with the end result that transformed an old, awkward and dated bathroom into a beautiful and usable space, and added a closet and other improvements to the rest of the floor, and we highly recommend ADR.

ADR was wonderful start to finish. They helped with the design and selection of the materials for our new kitchen in addition to demolition and construction. The space required demolition and is an old building so there were lots of potential problems. The crew was great and spent a lot of time making sure that the details were done to our liking. They went above and beyond . Everyone was professional and they worked hard to make sure that the job was finished in a timely manner. We love our new kitchen. This is the third time , in three different places, we have used ADR. They have been great each time. I recommend them to everyone.

ADR completed a kitchen renovation and a small laundry addition for us and we couldn’t be happier. We hired ADR to design and renovate our small and outdated 1959 kitchen and dining room. The project included removing walls and adding windows to open the space to the living room and bring in views of the outdoors. We couldn't be happier with the results. The kitchen renovation has changed the way we live in the space. It is beautiful. ADR's team is professional, responsive, and highly skilled. The carpenters who worked on our project, Chris and Trey, were AWESOME. Not only were they great people to work with, they are excellent craftsmen, perfectionists, and were great at communicating with us regularly throughout the project. There were a couple of inevitable and minor hiccups along the way, as there are with any major renovation project, but ADR's team was incredibly responsive and worked hard to ensure that everything was completed according to the highest standards in the end. While a renovation of a master bath is inherently stressful, ADR worked to make the process run as smoothly as possible. Excellent communication, attention to detail, and just plain excellent workmanship resulted in a bat that was all I wanted it to be.

ADR was recommended to us by a neighbor who praised their attention to detail, skill and professionalism. Having used ADR ourselves, I can confirm our neighbor's opinion. We have worked with many excellent contractors over the years, but I would rank ADR at the top of the list. Bret, the company President, was regularly at the job site to check in with his crew and to answer any homeowner questions. He was also incredibly responsive to the many, many emails we sent him over the course of our renovation. We worked with several members of the ADR team--Chris, Dave, John and Trey--and all were skilled professionals who were a pleasure to be around (very important when they are in your house eight hours a day for weeks). We also really appreciated their willingness to take on problems that arose along the way and to figure out creative ways to solve them. We will definitely use ADR again for any future renovations.

Our project included a total kitchen/breakfast room gut, expansion, and replacement; new roof, siding, and exterior paint; new deck; new front porch roof; and new front sidewalk. We interviewed four companies, and ADR provided the best credentials and understanding of our project. Their pricing was competitive as well. They have a complete design process which went so well that we had no changes to that plan once construction started, and everyone knew what to expect at each step. All of ADR's employees and contractors are friendly, professional, extremely skilled, meticulous, and take great pride in their crafts. The result is beautiful and well made, and I couldn't be happier. ADR has a great group of folks, and their skills are impressive. I'd work with them again in a heartbeat.

We could not be happier with the work ADR Builders did constructing our screen porch. The design staff were thoughtful and creative, and developed a beautiful design. They educated us about the building process and helped us make good choices. Their estimates of time and cost were accurate. The carpenters were extremely skillful and professional, as well as personable, punctual, thorough and neat. All of the related crafts (roofing, painting, masonry, gutters, electrical) were also done very well. Everything was handled with great professionalism and craftsmanship.

ADR has done a number of projects for us over the past 20 years, and we have found them to be efficient, professional, and creative in their work to design and implement renovation projects.

I’m sure the other reviews for ADR are accurate, but in my case – they didn’t deliver what was contractually promised, and vanished the second they got in over their heads. Before hiring them - please feel free to reach out to me. I will be happy to forward our email exchanges. The full story - I had an architect design an addition to my home, down to the finishes and fixtures. I gave ADR far more detail then most typically receive at the beginning of a project. Despite handing ADR this level of detail, they asked for thousands of dollars up front, for mechanical engineering plans, and to do their own plans. To ADR’s credit they provided a detailed initial estimate. Several meetings and several months later they sent me a terse email with a new budget that contained far less detail than the initial estimate, and a price tag that had ballooned to 60% higher than their (And everyone else’s) original figure. When I asked them why the number had gone up so much they said it was because the job would require lots of materials… doors and windows… did they not think I would want it built out of wood and have doors and windows before? I reminded them that I was promised actionable plans for my thousands of dollars - and they sent me what they had. The county refused to pass a permit on ADR’s unfinished plans, and their own mechanical architect refused to stamp the plans: “I have serious concerns about the lateral stability of their design”. My guess is that they couldn’t figure out how to solve this lateral stability issue, so they gave me a go away number and ran. I waited to write this review until after the job was completed with another firm. This other firm went back to the original architect’s plans, and created mechanical engineering drawings that were vastly superior. The job was completed well within our original budget and on time. Now that I know the job was possible within our budget, I decided to write this review. When I asked ADR if they thought it was fair that they were keeping my money, despite not giving me any actionable value, they said: Sometimes things don’t work out, the money’s gone, no refunds. That wasn’t my question, ADR. While I’m sure they can handle simple bathroom remodels, I’d urge you to reach out to me for our email exchanges before considering them for anything significant. In general though, do you want to work with someone who doesn’t lean in when there’s bumps along the way?

Responsive, highly-skilled, accommodating, honest, and professional are all terms that apply to ADR. We hired them for a large and complicated project about which we had some strong ideas, and they turned it into a very successful project. They kept within budget, and responded to every whim and wish. The best contractor we have worked with, by a mile.

ADR builders was recommended by friends who had used them on multiple properties. We too have become more than satisfied customers. The staff was highly skilled and consistently onsite during the entire project. Their communication with the customer is superior allowing for ongoing quick problem solving. We are happy to give a 5 star rating.

We used ADR for our kitchen renovation ten years ago, and when it was time to update several other areas, there was no question that ADR would be invited to bid. They weren't the lowest bid, but we have been so over-the-moon happy with the work they did in our kitchen, we decided that it was worth the slight additional cost to have the peace of mind that we'd be working with great craftsmen and very pleasant people, to boot. Our contacts with ADR employees were a pleasure every step of the way. We renovated two small bathrooms and added a master bath and walk-in closet. Their design hints were always spot-on, and we appreciated their alignment with our spending priorities (i.e., save a buck where you can, and splurge where it makes sense). They finished in the allotted time and actually $1,000 under the budget we had discussed! I have recommended them to several friends and will continue to sing their praises.

We enjoyed working with ADR on remodeling 2 bathrooms in our home built around 2000 - an en suite and a jack and jill. A great experience: contracting, communication, design and quality of work. ADR did a superb job with our renovation projects. We hired them to renovate our master bath, kitchen, and to install hardwood floors throughout our entire first floor as back to back projects. The entire process from start to finish was a true partnership between ADR and us. From the beginning design stage, to the end of the projects, they listened and made adjustments along the way. We hired ADR Builders to remodel our kitchen about five years age. They did an excellent job and we were so happy with the outcome we knew we would hire them again if we had additional work done. This is the third major project for which we have used ADR--first a major kitchen remideling, then a bathroom, a now a more complicated reorganization of master bedroom and bath. This was our first-ever remodeling project. ADR took us from a dingy, narrow master bathroom to a brighter, more usable space. ADR finished a part of our basement that began 7 years ago but was not completed. They painted and installed baseboards, a new ceiling, doors, and floor. They also installed recessed lights and a light fixture. Everyone was great! Gary, the owner, was very helpful, nice, and patient, answering all my questions. He kept me apprised of what was happening and was clear and timely with all paperwork, costs and changes. After it was done he came back to answer a few minor questions and help move some things in the garage that had been moved so they could saw in bad weather. He and they were always professional and pleasant. The men who did the actual work were excellent, came up with great solutions to some challenges that popped up, and were also kind and patient. They explained what and why they did things as well as consulted me when necessary. They even spiffed up an old step so that it looked like it belonged to the room and made it safer. Their work ethic was excellent. I appreciated that they installed a set of doors and then replaced them with a different set that would allow better access for a walker or wheelchair. The result was a beautiful hall and laundry room within our budget.

Finished the project on time with expert craftmanship. Any issues we had were promptly addressed. Employees were all very professional, courteous, and extremely helpful.

ADR renovated a bathroom for us, and a few years later, did a major reconstruction of the basement. My confidence in the company after both these projects is high. During the course of the project, the owners, Jane and Gary, keep in close touch; they stop by frequently and answer emailed questions promptly. We didn't use an architect; Jane configured the space in the basement, and it looks great. She also helped with choosing carpet, cabinets, and tiles. Gary is a first-rate diagnostician and found a major leak in our roof that had gone undetected. The ADR carpenters were careful, reliable, and well-skilled, as were the subcontracted plumber and electrician. This is a very trustworthy company. Even while the renovations were happening, I never found the experience unpleasant. And now that they're done, we're thoroughly enjoying the new spaces.

ADR Builders renovated our basement starting in December of 2002. They stripped it bare and rebuilt everything. Our basement is a large, dark space which they turned into a bright,separate apartment ( kitchen, bath, large living space). It is absolutely beautiful. ADR Builders has done other smaller jobs for us since then: a new floor on our porch, new tile flooring in the basement after it flooded two years ago. Their work is of the highest quality. Gary and Jane Stokes and their staff are a pleasure to work with- courteous, knowledgeable, good humored, efficient and helpful.

1. Converted an open floor to a marvelous study/library with built-in bookshelves and enclosed utilities. 2. Removed old kitchen and completely redesigned and installed new cabinets, appliances, granite surfaces. 3. Rebuilt a two-car stone garage installing new roof beams, roof and door. As can easily be seen, we have been extremely pleased with the guidance, design assistance, and workmanship of ADR for more than fifteen years. Their work has been timely, their workers efficient and more than friendly, their estimates on the mark, and the quality of their materials completely appropriate. We recommend ADR highly and will use them again whenever the need arises. The services rendered to date extend beyond a ten-year period. The kitchen is their most recent and impressive undertaking.

Gary and Jane provided us with a detailed plan for two total bathroom remodels and one minor bathroom remodel, as well as a minor kitchen remodel. They were able to complete all four projects in under 6 weeks, and exactly to budget. Their skills at estimating and a helping us choose fixtures and features were greatly appreciated. We have recommended them to many others, and will continue to do so.

Our project consisted in removing the wall separating our kitchen from the family room. It also involved adding a structural support, patching the wood floors, removing paneling and adding insulation to the family room walls, as well as priming and painting. ADR used its own employees for the construction work and hired electricians and HVAC contractors. ADR got all the necessary building permits. We were very happy with the results. They were courteous, thoughtful, and consulted us often issues that arose. They did a top-notch job and we would hire them again.

We have engaged ADR Builders for a number of projects in the past few years ranging from building an addition to installing new exterior entryways and painting the exterior trim on our home. They are courteous, respectful, and most importantly dependable. We would not hesitate to engage ADR for future projects. The quality of their work is outstanding.

ADR Builders designed and renovated the kitchen and laundry room of our historic 1920's stone and stucco home. We worked together to create the perfect eating and entertaining space within the original footprint of the house. ADR Builders was able to reconfigure the space we had to create a modern, up-to-date kitchen that we designed together as a team. We took down load bearing walls and put in steel reinforced beams, created pocket doors where there was solid wall and cut through stone to put in windows that looked more appropriate with the stylle of house than the ones that were there. In the end we were left with a room that flowed beautifully with the rest of the house As part of our renovation, ADR converted a large linen closet on the 2nd floor into a laundry room. We took a very unusable space and made it highly functional with a long granite counte top, stainless steel sink in the middel and washer/dryer underneath. No more lugging the laundry from the basement! Thanks ADR builders.

The ADR group built an addition to our 1978 home to accommodate an enlarged kitchen and laundry room. This was the send project that ADR worked with us on at our present home. Jane, Gary, Tim and Chris were skilled and professional every step of the way. The highest complement I received on their work was a visitor to our home asking if ours was a brand new home. They built an addition, replaced windows and installed a brand new kitchen.

ADR Builders performed a rehabilitation project on my 1865 home in Lutherville, MD. There was a great deal of structural damage as well as water damage to porches and railings. They rebuilt 2 entire porches upper and lower from the ground up. They had to rebuild railings on 2 other existing porches. ADR worked with roofers and painters on a project that was 3 months long. There workmanship was impeccable. The owner of the company checked on the job to make sure that it was moving along as well as taking care of deliveries and any other issues that may arise. They made sure that all the subs were here on time. I had them at my home for 3 entire months everyday and I couldn't have asked for a more professional, courteous group to work with. I would highly recommend them to others.

I live in a 1901 Victorian Painted Lady. ADR did a wonderful job prepping, painting and replacing original hardware on the very old wooden shutters. All work was done in the most professional way. I will hire ADR again.
