Axiom Design Build

I hired Axiom Design + Build to remodel an old disfunctional kitchen. Their ideas gave new life to the house, and our family. So many challenges with a 100 year old home, they sailed through them all with their expertise and professionalism. The project was completed on time and on budget.

We approached Axiom with the idea of renovating our kitchen and refinishing our floors in a hurry - as we were planning to go to market in three months. In Seattle, this is nigh impossible. Axiom agreed to do it and began planning immediately. As it turned out, we sold the house before we could start, but great credit is due to Max and the entire Axiom team; they listened to us and found a solution to our problem. I don’t know if any other Seattle firm could (or would) have committed to such a project.

My wife and I have had the very good fortune to use Axiom three times in the past three years. First to address issues in our new house, second to tackle a major structural issue and lastly to remodel our kitchen, bathrooms and address electrical and painting issues. We know, appreciate and respect Axiom. The work was high caliber, timely and met our expectations. The leaders analyzed their staff and subs work. On the few occasions there were issues they noticed and corrected. Of high importance, the Staff were excellent! Our budgeted target was well thought out by our project manager and cost savings occurred frequently. Additionally, we added considerable and still came in very close to target. Thank you Axiom!

Axiom was professional and a pleasure to deal with. They finished our kitchen remodel ahead of schedule and had to deal with a few surprises that are inevitable in a 90+ year old house. Instead of feeling we had to compromise, they came up with creative solutions that were even better than the original plans. On the rare occasion when we were disappointed with something, they pivoted very quickly and fixed it. My wife and I have remodeled 5 kitchens throughout our 30 year marriage, and we both feel like Axiom was the best to deal with. And we LOVE our new kitchen!! We would definitely hire Axiom again. We first met John and Heather in 2010 when we started to think about remodeling our 1906 Seattle home. We had some starts and stops and finally got the ball rolling in 2014. Once we met the Cashman's in 2010 we knew we would be working with them whenever we were actually able to start! When thinking about how to write this review I wondered if I should just write the nuts and bolts of why Axiom is a great company but I think when choosing a company to really be a part of your life there are other things equally important to consider. Odds are you'll find a company that does good work, is on time and on budget but then again there are those out that can take your experience to a whole other level. We found that with Axiom and here are the reasons why. We chose Axiom because we personally clicked with them the best. We had also seen some of their work in our area over the years and liked what they had built. We figured we needed to click with the people who were going to intimately involved in our lives, our home and our family for quite some time because when you undertake a huge project the people you hire will be deep inside your life. They will know your finances, your lifestyle, your hopes and wishes. They will see you when you are mad and stressed. They will see how you work with your spouse during this process. They will see how you deal with the ups and downs. It was important to us to work with people we felt comfortable with basically baring our souls. Their work is SOLID, well done, top of the line,and of high quality. Their staff, from their construction crew to their office staff, is high skilled and helpful. They have always been there to answer my ridiculous questions and requests. We valued the quality of work and craftsmanship of their carpenters and sub-contractors. We will pick them again and again to do work on our house!

We had a successful experience with John and Heather Cashman, Marlo, Shanna, and the entire Axiom construction crew Warren, Miguel, John, Skylar and others. We remodeled our primary residence from 2014 to 2015 from the studs up and we are quite particular and selective about the details. This was where the Axiom team shined. They are very customer obsessed and while they have strong architectural and design vision, they were very complementary to our views to help guide us to the best options helping us with the final calls. Another component that contributed to the success was the Axiom construction crew. We had great experience with their work ethics and attitude - they were great listeners, consistently solution oriented, and demonstrated strong sense of issue ownership, regardless where the issue was from, they worked on the issues until satisfactory resolution. We highly recommend Axiom.

I hired Axiom to do design/build work on an extensive remodel of my 1920s craftsman house. The experience was extremely disappointing and I would strongly advise against using Axiom for any project. Axiom was difficult to work with, the quality of their work was highly inconsistent and their budgeting was exceedingly poor. I could write at length about specific issues with Axiom, but, in the interest of brevity, I will simply say that even by the relatively low standards of residential construction Axiom’s performance was notably bad.

Axiom DB did a major remodel to my 100 year old house on Queen Anne. Project included foundation replacement, addition or ~1500 sq, all new systems, 90% new windows, all new interior finishes, some new exterior finish matched with original, new roof, new paint.

Axiom Design Build were fantastic. Design concepts were out of the park. Hit what we wanted first time out and process for construction, meetings were perfect. Recommendations were focused towards our needs, cost and fit for design. Would use Axiom over and over again. Staff was wonderful and always a pleasure to work with.

We were on the hunt to find a firm to work with on a remodel of our home, and after a lot of conversations, we choose Axiom...and we were very glad we did. John, Heather and the team were great partners, and they helped us learn. They were open to both our feedback/ideas as well as providing excellent input and advice. The design process wasn't uncomplicated, but that's because we kept changing our minds, and the Axiom team was happy to accommodate our requests. When it came time for the construction, we were very pleased to have the team who did the design driving the work. The crew, from the lead we had to the regular workers to the subs, were all talented, respectful and a pleasure to deal with. When issues or questions cropped up along the way, the response was timely, if not immediate. And when it came time for the walk through and punch list conversations, it went very smoothly. We had a few issues crop up after the job, all of which were handled just as promised. We've even asked them for advice from time to time, which they are happy to provide. We remained thrilled about the renovation work we took on, and regularly remark about how glad we are that we did it. We truly feel like a part of the Axiom family, and when it comes time for the next remodel, we won't hesitate to call on Axiom. You shouldn't either...

We contracted with Axiom for a complete house teardown and remodel. The Axiom team took into account our top goals and priorities, to design and build our very unique residence. The designers provided creative and innovative ideas for what became our ultra-modern home. We always knew what we wanted, but we required the guidance and expertise of Axiom to get us there. They met with all of our concerns and questions in a timely manner, and provided a structure of regular meetings to review progress. They maintained flexibility for making changes, while guiding us through some of the most critical decisions. They are experts in their field of exterior and interior design. It is refreshing to know that they are also exceptional at being negotiators, mediators, counselors, facilitators, and can even act as referees. We would highly recommend Axiom for design and build.

Axiom really helped us update and refresh our vintage house while keeping all the charm intact. Their design team is so creative and their building crew is talented and professional. It was a pleasure to have them around.

We worked with Axiom on a total kitchen, bath and bar remodel. This involved gutting the back 1/3 of a 1906 Craftsman with a 1950s kitchen and who knows how many poor prior remodel jobs. This was a 4 month project that hit lots of unforeseen challenges. Asbestos tile under 3 layers of floor. Subfloor that sloped 6 inches underneath the 3 layers of floor and had to be rebuilt. And once we opened the walls we realized that some prior remodel had removed the support for a 40 foot span - nothing was holding up the back half of the house. The Axiom team worked through all these problems with style and the end result was fantastic.

We demolished our 1950's rambler with daylight basement house down to the foundation and built a 2 story contemporary home. John incorporated our ideas into a unique design that fit our family. A year later we still have people stopping by our house asking where we got the materials and design. Like any big project, not everything went perfectly, but Axiom worked hard to correct any problems.
