Charlie and his staff were very helpful in coming up with designs for our three season room. We enjoyed the design process thoroughly and they definitely understood our vision. Unfortunately when it came time to build, all original promises of being able to work with any budget went out the window. The budget on our room was more than doubled on the final contract. We had already cut major items out of the design too, including going from 4 season to 3, which included cheaper windows and no insulation. If the project was not doable, we would have preferred to have the discussion up front, instead of being sold false hope. Glad we went through the design process, but was really disappointed after all the promises and encouragement, knowing the numbers that they just dropped a contract with a number so far off on it. I will also say the design process was slow for one room. We went to their office 3 times over 3 months and were sending e-mails to check in if there was any progress. I'm sure they would have done great work, but we couldn't trust them to move ahead after seeing them disregard our original budget after claiming it was definitely achievable. We are also still waiting for measurements on the final layout that were never provided.

Barnes Custom Builders were a phenomenal partner in a recent project. Building multiple elements of a home at once can be extremely difficult, but Barnes' clear communication and attention to detail made our progress together seamless. When the project completed, the shared client was very happy and the home looks beautiful. The portfolio that Barnes Custom Builders have assembled is very impressive and speaks to their high quality standards and customer-focused operations. BCB was honest, open , and professional at all phases of the build. We had a very interesting 1920 basement in Providence. Uneven slab, water issues, and an exceptionally difficult ceiling. BCB worked well as a team being up front about a realistic time frame. They also utilize an app to follow the progress on your own. Most importantly the BCB carpenters have great character, and I trusted them around my children.

Project: Completely overhauled my kitchen, including an exterior window wall, plus new wood flooring throughout the living, dining & kitchen. Barnes supervisors were excellent listeners, respectful, and pro-active in offering opinions on ideas offered. Work quality reflects pride in workmanship. Neat and clean too!

Barnes custom builders installed four rooms of prefinished hardwood flooring for me. I was very pleased with their work. The installer did an amazing job in laying out and installing the prefinished wood planks. In the course of this work I had to change the scope of the work twice. Dave Madieros, our foreman accommodated these changes graciously. They also did some shingle and wood beam replacement for me on the outside of my home. I was also very pleased with this work. A front and screen door were removed and replaced with new. It was a small job, but handled efficiently and well done. Everything was well coordinated and communicated. The team was easy to work with. We would hire them again.

I recently had kitchen cabinets installed by Barnes Custom Builders. The project was completed on the promised timeline. The installers were personable and did a great job communicating the process as they progressed. They showed skill and expertise in their work resulting in a beautifully installed kitchen. I am delighted with the finished kitchen and would recommend Barnes Custom with no hesitation!

My project included: the installation of a tile backsplash in the kitchen; removal of a tile ceiling in the living room and hallway, the ceiling was re-insulated, sheet rocked, plastered and painted; a dated stairwell bannister and non-code railing removed and replaced with ballasts, newel post and railings which were stained and painted; a non-functioning window was removed and the opening was reframed and sheet rocked; casing around the front door was removed, replaced and painted; the living room walls and trim were all repainted. Through out the entire project, from my initial meeting with Charlie and then ongoing meetings or correspondence with the project oversight manager Dave, they were always professional, extremely knowledgable and responsive in a timely manner. There were decisions to make during the project and Dave would provide me with multiple options to choose from and also provide his recommendation (i.e., tile grout, finishing ends for the backsplash, newel post placement, hand rail finishing to match floor, professional painting of stained woodwork, replacement smoke detectors) . His recommendations were always spot on as his experience and knowledge improved the outcome of the renovations. He was available on the weekend when needed. He ensured that everything met with my approval as the project progressed to completion. Dave was very flexible as the scope of the initial project expanded. In addition, Dave was very responsive and supportive when an apparent break-in had occurred prior to the project beginning. He had the window that was broken boarded up and then ordered a replacement to match the existing windows. The new window was reinstalled, trim replaced and painted. He also provided information to the police and to the insurance company. I would highly recommend Barnes Custom Builders as their workmanship was of the highest quality, their attitudes and professionalism exemplary, the budgets acceptable and fair, deadlines met in a timely fashion and were a pleasure to work with. I would give the overall project outcome an A+.

Barnes custom builders did our home renovation this summer and we are very happy with how it turned out. It feels like we are living in a brand new house after all of the interior and exterior work they did for us. Not only does the house look beautiful but it heats up faster and retains the heat longer which I'm sure will lower our heating costs this winter. Even though there were a few hiccups throughout the job, they always made it work. They responded to our questions and concerns in a timely manner and did it with professional customer service. I would highly recommend working with them to anyone considering a home renovation.
