We had an excellent experience working with Boa Construction. We found them to be very helpful, friendly, and definitely skilled and professional. It was a real pleasure working with this group and we would definitely recommend them to anyone with a remodeling job in the Santa Cruz area.

We worked with Michele and Debrae for over a year on our house remodel. We had a dated 1980s cookie-cutter house complete with a hallway of doors, mismatched flooring and a cramped entranceway. On the plus side, we had a beautiful living area with large windows looking out on a riparian area, lots of space and big dreams. My husband and I have a magical combination of expansive dreaming (him) and conscious practicality (me). Michele and Debrae met us there. My husband and Debrae dreamed big; Michele and I met them in the big dream and added a strong sense of what we could afford in terms of time, money and disruption. In the end, we designed and created a home that met our needs for function and beauty. A home that we love and utilize fully. We are a homeschooling family who stayed in our home during construction. The Boa crew of staff and subcontractors was respectful, talented and kind. They became part of our family for those construction months. I highly, highly, highly recommend working with this company and these people. You will get high quality design and construction; and partners in constructing a home that fits your needs. We were lucky enough to end up with dear friends at the end of it all...the best unexpected outcome of all!!

Several years after our project has been completed, we remain very satisfied with the excellent quality work of BOA Constructor Green Building and Design. BOA took over the project midway through the building of our 1,100 sq. ft. guest house. There were a complexities to be worked out with our project resulting from the original contractor's work that were not done to code, and these BOA did a excellent job of correcting. BOA is a company with integrity. All of the BOA crew worked steadily and reliably to complete the project in a timely fashion. BOA is honest and clear in all their dealings, and stayed within budget as well. Additionally, we appreciated the quality and consistency of communication with BOA, as we were not living in country while the project was being completed. The quality of the work is excellent throughout, including details.

Michele/BOA did a total remodel and addition to our home, making it wheelchair accessible and beautiful. She was was well organized and able to manage multiple deadlines. She worked well with subs, employees and with us. Always conscious of the budget, she was an excellent daily communicator on the many unconventional details that had to be worked out with us. This became a reliably successful, enjoyable and essential part of the job. The entire project was a very positive experience for our family.

Michele Landegger of Boa Constructor is our designated builder, providing consultation, value engineering and advising to help our build go smoothly. She is highly knowledgeable, a great communicator, conscientious about budget as well as everything else. She collaborates beautifully allowing contractor- builder, designer, and us as homeowners all to work together. We create a synergy that produces results far better than each working in isolation. I hired Boa Consructor in 2010 to do a remodel of my Santa Cruz 1929 bungalow style home. It was a plain little house which needed to be completely gutted. the result was more than I could have imagined. Michele and Debrae are extremely knowledgeable as their expertise spans both design and construction. The workmanship is excellent, the aesthetic sublime. Everyone who sees it comments on how it is both lovely and homey. Every detail was thought through with my input and designed for function as well as form. They kept the farm style which was important to me. While integrating some existing architectural aspects, they brought out the themes of light, glass, metal and wood together to create a peaceful and flowing feeling throughout. A it is a very old house, opening the walls and ceiling revealed some structural concerns. Michele and her team were able to sort through them at the least cost to me possible. I am about to do a remodel in the studio at the back of my property and have hired them again without a second thought. I wouldn't work with anyone else....ever....

BOA Constructor was just what we had hoped for--a conscientious and eco-conscious company with excellent communication skills as well as construction skills and willingness to include us in the project as much as was feasible. We appreciated Michelle's organizational as well as visual sense, and felt that she understood what we were trying to do, and was willing to bring her considerable skills to supporting our vision.

She is an advocate for her clients and works to bring their dream to fruition while honoring their budget. And Debrae, who leads the in house design team, is equally astute at ways to meet the aesthetic while working within the financial parameters. She is creative, project oriented and is great at hand holding throughout the process. Obsessive attention to detail in the best way we would describe our long-term experience with Boa. The projects ALWAYS end up cozy and beautiful and timeless because that is BOA. Honestly, we cannot recommend them enough.

Michele is doing a massive phased remodel, down to the studs for us. We ran into so many unexpected things that were pre-existing - cracking slabs, poorly made foundations, electrical under water, and Michele has handled each potential disaster in a cost-efficient way where our project is coming out gorgeous and well-constructed; and is already magnificent. Our house is a ranch that we are making Asian modern, but we have visited all sorts of her projects that are many other styles, and all are meticulously designed and built, comfortable, and look like they are from a design magazine. Her partner does beautiful design, but to cut costs, we did not use the design services that Boa provides. Michele is a master builder and a fantastic communicator and is extremely organized. She gives accurate bids and has a wonderful crew and subcontractors. When we go out shopping for house stuff in the community, everyone raves about Michele's work and her great attitude and professionalism. Look her up and call her references buildingnaturally.com . Boa Constructor is a wonderful company. They remodeled my small 1912 bungalow in the Seabright neighborhood, creating a much more livable floor plan while maintaining the integrity of the house. Using eco-friendly and salvaged materials was very important to me, and Michele, the GC, was a kindred spirit in that respect. She encouraged me to find salvaged materials on Craigslist, and she made an effort to reuse 100 year-old redwood siding, doors, etc, when I know it would have been easier to go to the lumber yard and buy something new. Her crew is friendly, expert, and tidy--we lived onsite during our renovation (in a studio behind the house) and I always felt comfortable having the crew here. Michele seems to know every subcontractor in Santa Cruz, and she's great at getting the best quality tilers, hardwood floor people, etc., at the best price. Even more importantly, she is a good listener, and she is patient and flexible with clients. We were, in some ways, terrible clients--we struggled to make up our minds, my husband and I communicated with her at cross-purposes, and we expected miracles on a small budget. Michele stuck with us, dealt with the inevitable challenges and setbacks, and got us back into our home on schedule and for a reasonable price. (We did time and materials, rather than a fixed contract price, so there was no overarching budget.) My house is a little jewel box now; thanks to the creativity and care Michele and her crew lavished on it, it's ready for another 100 years of life.
