CAGE Design Build

We had a great experience with Kelly and Dave when CAGE Design completely remodeled/rebuilt our entire 1950's era home. It has been several years since and we still often say to people that there are very few items we would have done differently. I appreciate both Kelly and Dave for their patience with us during the construction time as well as we were living with relatives, with our 2 year old and had another baby on the way! Kelly and Dave also went to bat for us with the city, which I am very grateful for and helped save us money. I always recommend CAGE Design Build to anyone who inquires about remodeling. I can truly say they are a customer first business! Also, their carpenter is the best!

Dave and Kelly remodeled our home in San Jose last year. They were great, kept us informed from start to finish. Their crew was friendly and professional and kept our home in order as much as one can for a home under construction! I have recommended them to a friend who has also chosen them for their remodel!

We had a large whole house (interior & a good amount of exterior as well) project due to a house fire and we vetted several contractors for the job. In the end we went with CAGE and it ended up being a great experience to work with them! The house turned out exactly as I envisioned and each of the subcontractors Dave used did a beautiful, high quality job. No shortcuts. Most importantly, Dave stands behind his company’s work which gave me peace of mind throughout the process.

The staff at CAGE Design are top notch, talented, creative and great problem solvers. Besides their attention to detail, they are so caring and pleasant to work with. I am very happy to be working with Kelly, Dave and the rest of the team.

Kelly and Dave and Tim provided fantastic remodeling jobs for us, both an extensive interior and an exterior one. Their design, work ethic, attention to detail and quality of results are superlative. And they were like members of our family when they finished. We could not be happier.

I used CAGE Design Build to help redo my bathroom. Kelly was extremely helpful and patient. Her eye for colors and design created a space I love. We had a great experience with Cage Design Build when we did a major renovation on our house. During the design process, they considered our wants and needs, but also gave advice based on their experiences. I really appreciated that they narrowed down options so that it made it easier to make decisions. They also do this up front. As a result, we didn't have any major change orders and the final project was really close to the initial design and projected costs. During the actual renovation, they stayed pretty close to schedule and communicated any issues/delays. The project was paused during the pandemic so that delayed things, but then they did their best to get us back on track and we were only a month delayed. They also have an awesome carpenter who did some really precise work with the kitchen and bathroom cabinets.

CAGE design did our kitchen remodel in 2019. It was a very complicated project and turned out spectacular! We love everything about it and working with Kelly and Dave was just awesome. I cannot recommend them highly enough.

We hired CAGE Design Build for our garage remodel because of all the successful projects that they have completed for us in the past. Kelly, Dave, and their entire team are a joy to work with. CAGE is always very responsive to our questions and concerns. They are respectful and always cleanup at the end of the workday. Our Garage remodel included new custom built cabinets (one with a beautiful butcher block counter top), a resin floor, wonderful LED lighting, a new insulated garage door with a spiffy compact opener, a new security side door, and getting rid of the rats nest of electrical conduit that had accumulated on the walls of the garage. The included project photos were taken fairly soon after the remodel but before I got a chance to really organize things. Our garage is the envy of all our friends! The quality of CAGE's workmanship is excellent. We will definitely hire them again for our future remodels.

We recently did our third project with CAGE which involved the remodel of two 1960s era small bathrooms. They did an amazing job in a limited space (1960s bathrooms are really tiny) and we thoroughly love the updated bathrooms. Thanks to the CAGE team (Kelly, Camtu, Carlos, Ed, Ty, and the Daves (there were at least 3 Daves on this project) everything went smoothly. We'll be hiring them again for our next remodeling project.

The decision to remodel your home is a tough one. Finding the right firm that can help you transform your home is typically the biggest challenge after setting aside the budget. We are glad that we went with C.A.G.E. Design Build for our home remodel. It started with us having multiple sit down sessions with Kelly who provided us several layout and design options to help convert our 60 year old dwelling into a contemporary home to suit the needs of our growing family. Once we finalized the broad layout, Kelly listened to our wants and needs and worked with us to tweak the design details to provide us with a home that we desired. The designs and vision were passed onto Dave with the expectation of flawless execution. We got exactly that. Dave did an awesome job in realizing the design was absolutely trustworthy and very professional. The result is a home that we are so proud to live in. It was a pleasure working with C.A.G.E. Design Build, and after slightly more than a year of project completion, we are writing this review fully satisfied with the job. We highly recommend C.A.G.E. Design Build.

I recently completed 2 different remodel projects with Dave and Kelly. We updated the master, hallway and half bath, updated the fireplace and reconfigured the design of the master bedroom. Kelly worked with me to get the design right, even if it meant going back and making changes multiple times. She has a good eye for design and color and helped me to coordinate the entire project down to the paint color on the walls. We used Houzz as a clipboard during the design process to share ideas and discuss likes and dislikes so that Kelly had a good idea of my vision. Kelly and Dave really believe in customer service throughout the entire process AND after the completion of the project. If there was anything that I was not satisfied with, the problem was promptly addressed and resolved. In some cases, they took on additional expense to "right" the issue to my satisfaction and their attention to detail is incredible. If you want to have confidence in working through a remodel project, you should contact them. They screen and verify their subcontractors, keep you apprised of the project, and work with you to make sure that the project is both stunning and completed on time. I would highly recommend them to anyone considering a remodel project.

This is the second project that I have used Cage. WE are working on a duplex project that has been complicated but they are doing a great job. We have one tenant living on one side while we work on the other side and they notify her when water off, power off etc.

We are so delighted to be able to work with Kelly and Dave of CAGE Design Build. They are highly professional and so helpful in suggesting designs that curtail to the customers needs AND budget. We have had the distinct pleasure of working with this experienced team for a few years now and highly recommend them. We remodeled a Master bathroom and upstairs hall bathroom in Phase I. In Phase 2 the kitchen, living room, and dining room were gutted and completely redone. Both Kelly and David helped us come up with great ideas, and worked hard to stay within our budget by giving us alternatives to some of our more expensive wish list ideas. Kelly was a master at putting our thoughts and ideas to design so we could see them on paper. She did a wonderful job of getting to know me and my style, and helped guide me to the tiles, paint, fixtures and cabinetry that best reflected my style. If she felt my choices weren't quite right, she would offer her thoughts, but always supported my final decision. David did a fantastic job of putting the project together, using excellent subcontractors to carry out the plumbing, electrical, and painting. With David managing the project, we always knew what to expect each day. Everyone arrived on time as expected and left with the house clean and everything organized or put away so we could enjoy our evenings, even while living in a construction zone! If there were any problems that arose, David took care of them quickly and efficiently, though very few problems ever came up! Everyone was respectful of our home and sensitive to our needs, which was very important as each day brought new house 'guests' to the front door. Both David and Tim did the construction work with an amazing attention to detail. The demolition was done efficiently and left clean every evening. Whether it was construction of door frames, mounting windows, installing cabinetry, or putting up molding, the workmanship was nothing less than perfect and the special attention to detail has created a home that we love to live in every day. Although it was a year of living in construction to see the completion of 2 phases of remodel, we have nothing but positive things to say about CAGE Design Build. I would not hesitate to use them again!

I have known Kelly Funk for 18 years and she has designed many kitchens over the years and every customer has been completely satisfied with the results. As a contractor, she will oversee the project from start to finish. Kelly and Dave Wampler with CAGE Design, are absolutely one of the very best design and build teams out there. I have been an electrical contractor here in the bay area for 24 years and in the trades for some 38 years. I know a quality run outfit and I have only recommended two companies in all this time and CAGE Design I would consider the best. If you want your kitchen, bath or addition to go off without a hitch, I highly recommend using this company. Kelly will put together a plan and Dave will see to it that all the subcontractors will execute their portion of the work on time and to the letter of the code.

We are using Cage Design for our our entire house remodel and it has been a great experience. We have finished 2 phases of a 4 phase remodel and lived in the home while the remodel was going on. We have stayed in budget and Cage has stuck to the schedule. Kelly has really listened to what our needs are like more storage space, a larger master closet, a smaller shower in the master bathroom, a larger laundry room, places to display art, reuse lighting that we already had. She helped me make selections but they were never just her choices. So the home is really our home. I trusted every subcontractor that came to work at the house and if there were any issues that came up they handled them. They even helped me find a storage company to come and pack up the house and put our things in storage. We can't wait to finish the next phase of our project.

CAGE Design Build did such a wonderful job on the transformation of our kitchen, dining and living room in 2012 that we hired them again last year to remodel our upstairs bathroom, office, sitting area and bedroom. The results are fantastic and have completely transformed our upstairs living area. Kelly and her team worked with us on the design and materials selection and budget, and Dave and his team did their usual masterful job executing it. The work was completed on schedule and with minimal disruption and we just love our new upstairs!
