About five years ago, I had moved into my historic 1905 home in Inman Park and started scrolling through Houzz because I needed guidance and didn’t know where to turn. I purchased a special place but it was in need of TLC to create a home that offered both the old world charm paired with the modern living spaces that a family of four desired. Although I had met with a few designers, none were right. I loved my home and wanted to find someone who would share that appreciation, even with all the work it needed. That’s when I came across Carl Mattison’s listing. He had recently completed a restoration of a home in Grant Park. Both the project and Carl seemed like a perfect fit, so I cold-called him. We scheduled a time to meet and tour my home. At that point, I wasn’t ready to tackle a “big project.” I just wanted to modernize a few smaller spaces while preserving the grandeur of the old house. Carl immediately understood my vision and got to work. Within a few weeks, he returnedseveral proposals that were spot-on. In fact, we ended up using elements from nearly every rendering because I loved them all. After completing several smaller projects—including my reception room, stairwell, and kids' bathroom—it was time to take on the kitchen and primary bathroom overhaul. Naturally, Carl was my first call. I was excited but also overwhelmed, unsure of where to start. Fortunately, he knew exactly what to do. He introduced me to a fantastic architectural group (Hagan Architects, Inc.), and from there, we hit the ground running. As the plans came together, Carl played a crucial role in helping me navigate them—figuring out what would be most practical and effective for the space. He drew from his experience, not only with other projects but also from his own home. Once the plans were finalized and permits approved, Carl remained closely involved, almost on a daily basis. He made the selection process smooth and genuinely enjoyable. One of the qualities I admire most about Carl is that, while he always has plenty of ideas and advice to offer, he truly listens. When he hears your concerns—whether about budget, design, or functionality—he takes them to heart. Throughout the large-scale renovation, I saw Carl’s unwavering dedication to both the project and me as his client. He was a true advocate. Although my contractor was excellent, Carl served as an invaluable resource, helping me navigate the expected and unexpected challenges of a major renovation. He was patient, insightful, and worked tirelessly to make sure everything turned out "just right." In the end, Carl helped me create the home of my dreams. My family and I couldn’t be more thrilled with the results. There are countless special details—like the vent hood made from reclaimed trimwork salvaged from the house—that Carl envisioned and brought to life. These touches make the home uniquely ours. I can’t sing Carl’s praises loudly enough. It all began with a single cold call, and I’m so glad I made it.

Carl was fantastic! We contacted him to design our primary bathroom. The process was so much fun. He came over to walk around our condo and get an idea of our design style so to be consistent. He asked so many great questions to understand our requirements for function, aesthetic and budget. Soon after, he presented us with 2 amazing designs. We immediately knew that he really "got us". We ended up going with 90% of one with a few things added from the 2nd design. He worked with our contractor and found a great woodworker to build our custom walnut cabinet and wainscoting. Carl's attention to the fine details is what really made the result, our dream bathroom, including unique lighting and switches, beautiful plumbing fixtures, and stunning marble tile. He ordered all the materials and had it all delivered directly to us (tile, bathtub, plumbing fixtures, lighting, etc). He made it a collaborative effort while we leaned heavily on his expert opinions and advice. In the end we LOVE the result. I can't express enough accolades on working with Carl Mattison Design!!

Carl is amazing - he got me and my aesthetic and my two bathrooms are gorgeous! He’s prompt, reliable, has great vision, and so much fun to work with- and a great help with contractors as well. We wake up every day in our dream house, and we are able to do that thanks to Carl Mattison Design. They worked to help us discover our perfect style, then put together an organized plan on how to bring it to life. Carl had a great working relationship with our builder, and always were an advocate for us when we needed them. Our build process had some bumps in the road (who's doesn't), but Carl was always right there to work through realistic options and alternatives. As this was my first experience working with a designer, I wasn't sure what to expect, but working with Carl certainly exceeded any expectations and made the process of our renovation SOO much better! He was professional, yet personal, and really took the time to understand our style and desires for the house before coming up with a gorgeous plan with unique designs and creative ideas. He worked with us carefully through each detailed aspect of the project and made changes when needed based on our feedback. He is responsible, timely, and thorough, and I truly would not have been able to do this project without his expertise. Carl went above and beyond and even helped in areas that weren't his responsibility to make sure we were happy and taken care of. If you need an interior designer, no need to look further than Carl Mattison Design! After just one consultation meeting, he had figured out my design style and I didn’t even know I had one. He listens, relates, and is singularly customer-focused. And, he is so much more than a fantastic designer. He was a lifesaver throughout our project advising, managing innumerable details, consulting, and DOING. And, he’s super-fun to work with. There is nothing we would change with our design; we love it. If we could give a 99-star rating, we would!

Carl is so great at what he does. So patient with clients and is willing to go that extra mile. He was not afraid to recommend stepping outside the box. We couldn’t be happier with his design…he was able to hit the ground running and knew exactly what we were looking for.

Carl was an absolute godsend for our Candler Park full home remodel. Our project included an expansion to our home adding a open kitchen / living space downstairs, along with 2 bedrooms, bathroom, and laundry room upstairs, and a full primary bathroom redesign. We almost did not move forward with the renovation because I was overwhelmed with the scale of the project and design selections for the entire house. As soon as I met Carl my apprehension disappeared and I knew this project to build our dream home was something we could take on with him leading the charge. Carl turned the design and finishes selection phase of the project from what was originally an overwhelming experience into a really fun project. He helped us navigate where to invest more money and where to save. I was blown away by Carl's knack for understanding our style while also pushing us out of our comfort zone in the best ways. In the build-phase Carl worked expertly with our builders and would catch and communicate errors to our builders before we even noticed the mistake. His expert eye caught many imperfections we would have never known to even look for! Not to mention he kept me sane (and my husband by extension) during the toughest moments of our 8-month project. I could not be happier with the final result! We can't thank Carl enough for bringing our dream home to life!

When my husband and I decided to do a full kitchen renovation we immediately thought of Carl. We have known Carl for years and knew we could trust him with the process. We couldn’t be happier with the kitchen design choices Carl made. As well as the choices he helped us make for the powder bath.

We bought a 1970s time-capsule that needed a lot a love and care to be brought back to life. Our real estate agent recommended Carl and I truly think it's the best decision we made as part of our project. Carl was amazing throughout our entire renovation project! We renovated and basically rebuilt our entire house with Carl’s help. He not only had gorgeous design ideas, but tailored them to our specific taste and was extremely organized and knowledgeable. Carl was always very responsive and saved us both time and money by getting us deals that we would’ve never known about. He was professional and did quality work, but made the process fun. Could not recommend him more!

Carl has now been through two major home remodel projects with us. After such incredible results from the first project, I would never consider doing a redesign without him. From lighting to paint, floor to ceiling, Carl has a crystal ball when it comes to the perfect vision for every home refresh/remodel. Not sure how he does it, but all of his choices are unique yet so fitting to each home. The return on investment is great: by working with Carl you won’t make stupid mistakes and will love every inch of your redesign for years to come (and so will all your guests! Prepare for lots of compliments). Carl better not ever leave Atlanta because I will be lost without him in the years ahead as we continue to grow into our home and refresh/remodel it from time to time as needed.

I could not be happier with the results of our basement having used Carl. He was creative, thoughtful, and extremely timely with his designs and communication. He was able to bridge mine and my husbands wants to create a perfect space for our family. The basement is officially the nicest part of our home so now we will need to have Carl work on the rest of our house. This was a small project for him but never made us feel that way. What would we have done without Carl Mattison? My husband and I had started a new build just as the pandemic hit in March 2020. After having only one in-person meeting, Carl didn’t miss a beat. He quickly pivoted to Zoom-call design sessions and then to masked in-person meetings. He was truly a spark of joy in an otherwise stressful and dark time for our family and our world. In a season of uncertainty, anxiety, and transition, Carl was a constant source of hope, peace, and reassurance. He became someone we could rely on and trust 100 percent as he helped us navigate an unknown (to us) world of tile, paint colors, lighting, bathroom fixtures, and more. Carl is extremely professional and hard-working and prides himself on his amazing customer service. He was very patient with our many questions and always took the time to chat on the phone or respond to a text. He checked in and followed up with me on a regular basis. Carl is a problem solver; as unexpected issues arose, he consistently came up with solutions that satisfied all parties involved. He is able to find the silver lining in almost any situation. Carl is a great communicator - with us but also with our builder and vendors. He communicated all of our design choices to our builder in a clear, direct, and professional way. This was incredibly helpful. Carl is detail-oriented and very organized. He stayed within our budget and tracked each item, design decision, and price in a spreadsheet that he shared with us. Carl is a very talented designer, but he also has a rare gift of being able to see people, relate to them, and understand their style - even if they don't understand it themselves. He spent countless hours discussing design decisions with us and helping my husband and me come to a mutual agreement on them. In summary, we couldn’t be happier with our new home and the quality of service that Carl provided. He was worth every penny we paid and then some. We would hire him again in a heartbeat as future projects arise. In addition to all of this, he is simply a joy to be around - and one of the funniest people I know. Hire him. Carl is an extraordinary talented designer. We live in an older home in Morningside that was build in 1929, and his designs were fresh and kept to the traditional lines and style of our home. He immediately zeroes in on your likes and dislikes so his designs are spot on. He gave us 3 completely different designs to choose from and all were exceptional. We even used some things from each one. He has a great eye for colors and design and is an absolute delight to work with. Carl is very organized and thorough, and always got back to us in a timely manner. He was also a valuable go-between with the contractor, which was extremely helpful to us! My husband and I can now call him a good friend. I would very highly recommend Carl for any design needs. To be honest, we were sad when his time came to an end, but we absolutely LOVE our new kitchen!

Carl is an amazing professional! I first saw his design work when I toured a dream home years ago. That was the “house that got away”! Fast forward and by total kismet I ended up buying a different custom home he built & designed. After living in such a well appointed, expertly designed home I couldn’t go back, but I had to move. So when I bought my current home I knew Carl to was the only one to help me transform it. We took a builder grade boring, “2001 Home Depot house” with no personality to a show stopping space expertly designed by Carl & his team. My master bath is now the sexiest bathroom I’ve ever seen. A space I truly use daily. My gorgeous kitchen has been transformed with exceptional style. We also remodeled two smaller baths and a garage/studio conversion. From tip to tail this has been an excellent experience. Though I have a decorators eye and artistic personal style I KNEW trying to tackle projects of this magnitude on my own would be an expensive process that could leave me overwhelmed and filled with costly mistakes, and potentially a weird end result. Carls services not only made my home stunning but literally saved me a year of headaches, decisions, and hassles that would have felt like a second job. This was my first time working with a designer and what I didn’t know going into it is just how impactful this kind of support is during a major renovation. I was able to reach a desired vision but let go completely into the process thanks to him. GAME CHANGER. Carl is the best and my home is now an incredible place full of personality, high end details and style! ✨

Carl was a delight to work with! He was able to figure out our style very quickly and became our advocate throughout our renovation project. Carl has a great sense of style, timeless but edgy and fun at the same time. He was thoughtful about incorporating my ideas and integrating my attic expansion and kitchen renovation project with the historic character of the house (a 1920s brick Tudor). He came up with beautiful vision boards with a cohesive direction for design, but was also flexible and responsive about incorporating changes. Carl also worked really well with my builder & his subs, and had great sources for stone, tile, lighting and hardware. Although Carl is super busy, he was always very responsive & attentive and helped keep my project on schedule.

As a design-builder and general contractor, working with Carl is a truly a pleasure as he is able to see issues from all perspectives and come up with solutions that are a win-win-win for the Client, Designer, and us. There were things I failed at along the way, but Carl never failed me. Carl delivered the design of my dreams. Carl executed everything outlined in his contract AND EVEN MORE. Carl ended up being my designer, fixer, consultant, and at times even my therapist LOL!! Carl was the first decision I made with my renovations and HANDS DOWN the best decision I made. I have zero regrets about hiring Carl. I will hire Carl for any future renovations I make (Heads up Carl-there will be more! LOL). And whatever price he quotes me I will pay because I know that he is worth that and even more. Hopefully I will get the “friends and family” rate because at this point he is my friend and he is my family. I love him dearly and I know you will too. We bought a 130 year old four square in downtown Decatur that was desperately needing a renovation and restoration. We hired a contractor and was referred to Carl by a friend. I cannot even begin to put into words how much money, time and headache Carl saved us. The contractor had some errors that Carl caught every time from ordering to measuring. He is an absolute lifesaver and an incredibly talented and fun human being. He puts 110% into everything he does and we are forever grateful for him. If you are renovating your home you have to give him a call, not only will he design a home you’ll absolutely fall in love with he will be there for you and make the process so much more fun and easy!

Carl Mattison is worth every penny!!! I didn't know what to expect going into a major renovation and I received mixed reviews on whether or not we really needed a designer, but thank god we had Carl. He was with us every step of the way and helped communicate with our contractor which at times was like talking another language. He stuck to our budget and was very organized. He not only nailed my style but had recommendations for other vendors that I requested (i.e. wallpaper, carpenter, blinds, etc.). He's very knowledgeable of the industry and very professional. I am going to miss working with him now that our reno is coming to an end. You will not be disappointed if you work with Carl Mattison! Top notch (and funny too:)

We nabbed Carl after hiring a contractor to handle a renovation of our kitchen and adjacent spaces. We are thrilled with our new space, and we feel so lucky to have worked with Carl to achieve it! Carl's aesthetic is top notch magazine drool worthy, and he absolutely nailed the look/feel I'd been dreaming of ever since we bought our dated home. He introduced us to new materials and options we never even imagined; I'm literally giddy every time I walk into my house! It was also incredibly easy to work with Carl. He's just an affable person who is impossible not to like. His working style is very easy going, while still offering clear perspectives. We were living across the country in California for most of this project; Carl was the glue that held the project together. He tirelessly came on site and coordinated with the contractors, with maniacal attention to detail, to bring our "new" place to life. I highly, highly recommend Carl, and I would love to work with him again!

We just finished our 6 month renovation with Carl as our designer and we couldn't be happier with the end result. Carl quickly picked up on the design aesthetic that we wanted to achieve in our rennovated home. He was great at understanding all aspects of our rennovation. He closely reviewed the architectural plans and made suggestoins that may work better for the flow of our house or our lifestyle. We said several times during our project we were so glad to have him as part of the project. It felt he was often the glue between the architect and communicating our wants to the builder. Not to mention he is just a great person and was so easy and fun to work with. Without hestitation would recommend him to anyone considering design services for their home.

Just when you think you know exactly what you want - you hire a professional and you get something SO MUCH BETTER. Working with Carl was a pleasure. He was efficient, professional, organized in his thoughts, time, and presentation and stayed on top of everything. Our job was relatively small - kitchen and master bath - for the type of work Carl normally takes - but Carl and team never made us feel any less important. We were challenged because as empty nesters we had severely downsized from the suburbs to Midtown ATL and needed to learn how to "live efficiently" in a much smaller space. We stayed on schedule, exactly two months from demo to done. Any potential issues or design questions were resolved immediately - sometimes before I even knew they existed. All design choices were made in conjunction with Carl and the team - but with their excellent eye steering us in directions we would not have explored on our own. We even stretched the engagement with Carl to include all new furniture and other design choices for the space. The result is a custom, upscale, comfortable open floor plan utilizing every last inch of room for storage and built ins. I absolutely love the finished home. I often think that there's not one thing I would change about what we created together. Highly recommend Carl and team!

My husband and I had great plan to renovate our kitchen. Started doing some searching for ideas on Houzz, and saved several kitchens that favored what we already had when I came across Carl Mattison. We wanted a designer who would mix our personality and style while also knowing and keeping the integrity of our craftsman style home. Before speaking with Carl I called another design firm told them what we wanted to do and they immediately quoted me for $100,000 without a consultation. After hearing the first quote and looking at Carl’s work I was even more intimidated and I thought that Carl would be to busy and just as costly as the other firm. So I decided to email him; stopped in the middle of my thought and said “call him”, and he answered. I shared with him what we wanted to do, and the quote from the other firm. I stressed that we did not know how to get this Reno started and we absolutely wanted to work with him. Carl did everything that we asked and everything that he said he would deliver according to the schedule. Three months later we had a absolutely beautiful kitchen/ main floor that we couldn’t have imagined at the start of the project. It was amazing seeing everything unfold month after month. We want to thank you Carl so much for providing us with his expert design ideas, techniques and excellent service. During this renovation we have built a close and personal relationship with Carl, we consider him as part of the family. Can’t wait to get started on the rest of our home soon! We LOVE our Kitchen and we LOVE Carl Mattison Design!

I would give 10 stars if I could! Simply put, our project would not have turned out as spectacularly as it did were it not for Carl. His pricing was fair, he was always responsive, and went WAY above the call of duty on many occasions. From helping to make decisions on the fly, to helping us spot opportunities/challenges that are not even design related, to helping to manage challenging situations with other parties, he was always there for us. He transformed our 90s blah into a modern yet liveable work of art. My place feels uniquely me, even though it was designed by Carl and his team. Carl listened to what we wanted, stayed on BUDGET, recommended top-notch contractors, made quick but correct design decisions, and finished the project ahead of schedule. Now, I get constant compliments on my home, and I feel so proud to call such a beautiful space my own.

Carl is a pleasure to work with. He takes the time to listen and really figure out what it is your hoping for. He is always quick for ideas and is always willing to find more options. His attention to detail ensures a fantastic final project. He is very responsive and maintains excellent communication throughout the project, not just with the client but with contractors as well. Carl. Mattison. Design. Three words that will forever be one of a kind. Carl nailed my Boho Chic renovation dreams. Being in the housing industry myself, I held Carl to a higher standard, and he exceeded all expectations. He listened and delivered. The process was fun, and I owe it to him for making my house a home. I can’t picture myself doing a design project with out him. 10/10 would recommend.

My family and I greatly enjoyed working with Carl Mattison Design on our home renovation project. Carl Mattison himself is a treasure!! We had never before worked with a designer on anything, and this was a BIG project. Carl broke it up into parts that made sense and which were much more manageable to work with. What could have been completely overwhelming became not only workable and manageable but actually enjoyable. Carl provided two or three choices for every decision we had to make, and if we didn't like any of them (which didn't happen much since he took the time to get to know us and gain an understanding of what we liked and didn't like), he willingly and with a great attitude went back to the drawing board and came up with something else. In the end, I can honestly say that we are so so happy with our new (old) home and all the choices that Carl helped us make along the way. He has great vision for what works and what doesn't. He also made the process really fun, and that is something that should not be undervalued.

Carl advised us during our home renovation of a modest 1952 brick bunglao. His ability to make a personal connection with us really made a difference in the overall design result. As we doubled a 1,000 sqft space, Carl helped us pick out the right lighting, cabinetry, countertop and tiles to not only suit our style completely but also create a functional and practical house. He was a great partner throughout our project! We recently moved into our new home and are absolutely in love with every room in the house! Carl is the Swiss knife of interior design and home building.

You will not only love your house, but you will love Carl! I was really on the fence about hiring a designer for our remodel. I was worried about the cost, about picking the wrong person etc. I watched a few friends DIY on their renovations (one wore out her car shocks after getting a deal on tile hours away in South Carolina) and with all of them, what they thought was going to be the most enjoyable part of the process was the most agonizing and in the end their houses lacked that wow factor they worked so hard to get. We decided to go with Carl and it was hands down the best decision we made in our renovation process. He was sensitive to our budget and when there were things we wanted, but couldn’t afford, he came up with the most amazing alternatives. He advocated for us many times if the builder made a mistake or if something was installed incorrectly; he didn’t shy away from personally involving himself to see that it came out right. He is a true professional, detailed, involved, organized, does what he says he will, on time, and a master at his craft. Not only does my house look better than I ever could have even hoped, but he kept us sane and was a guide to us during the turbulent displaced months we spent rebuilding our home. I can tell you I felt like he took care of our house like it was his own. There wasn’t a single thing he didn’t see to, and usually this went on without my knowing. He joked one day about how he spent the day texting our tile installers and then sent me a gorgeous photo of our finished tiled shower. He went beyond what we expected, and my house has that wow factor. My bathroom feels like it belongs in a luxury hotel, my kid’s bathroom is whimsical and so stylish, the paint colors are perfect and flow beautifully together and my kitchen looks like something from a magazine. I was excited about his choices when we first got started but living in this space truly has made us feel elated, and though we have only been in our house for a short time, several times a day I joyfully look at something in my home and think of Carl and reflect on how lucky I was to work with him. I simply can not emphasize enough the value he brings.

Let me say at the outset I could not recommend Carl highly enough. My wife and I built a second home with a modest budget. We wanted it to look cool and hip but did not want to break the bank doing it. We found Carl on line and loved everything he touched and wanted that look for ourselves. It was by far the best money we spent. He started out with a quick interview to understand our budget and style, presented us with two different design options, offered opinions on each and came up with a final design that satisfied us completely. Also, and quite uncommon in the building industry he was on point, on time and actually returned our calls promptly, once while on vacation........and now we have one of those super cool, hip houses, thanks to Carl.

Carl was the first person I hired when we began our home renovation project. He worked with me for well over a year before construction began. He helped guide us on so many non-related design decisions and was always willing to give advice. I honestly do not know if we would have completed the project without him (my husband and I both think he was the best decision we made in the entire process!) Our home is absolutely beautiful and we could not be happier with the results. Carl's design choices were spot on and whenever we wanted to deviate he was happy to help find a new option. The amount of stress that was alleviated by having him on our project is priceless not to mention he was an advocate for us throughout the renovation. We loved, loved, loved working with him and I can't recommend him highly enough.

Carl was amazing to work with on our master bathroom and butler pantry design. Our bathroom was a true gut job, down to the framing, and it turned out absolutely gorgeous! We had some general ideas about what we liked and wanted but never would have been able to execute it without his assistance. We highly recommend him for your Atlanta design projects!

I asked Carl to pick outdoor paint colors for my dingy house - I hated the brown trim color, and I needed to come home to a happy looking house. I had picked some colors on my own but I couldn't pull the trigger so I asked him for advice. He looked online at Google maps to see my house architecture, and after seeing my selected paint samples he sent a comprehensive color plan - free of charge! The colors were along the same direction as the ones I'd tentatively selected, and his colors were even better. We used his favorite painters who did such a great job - and quickly - even my husband liked the results. And my husband doesn't like anything. Their work was professional, they were respectful and hardworking. And fast! Carl's eye and talent helped me love coming home to my happy house.

We worked with Carl to renovate and add a second story to our 1920's Old Fourth Ward Home. We were expecting our first child, and needed needed more and better laid out space but loved where we were intown. Carl worked with us from the very beginning till after we had moved in to create our dream home. He was realistic and guided us on what where we should spend our money. We now have a house that we can be in for decades, and fits with the fabric of the neighborhood instead of sticking out like so many new builds. The style is classic but unique, and we get compliments every time we are outside.

Carl was such a pleasure to work with. He helped us on a renovation project by designing two bathrooms as well as guiding us through various paint colors and fixtures throughout the house. He has a great eye for honoring period specific styles alongside modern taste and practicality. Carl was fun to have during a long renovation process - the entire family including kids and doggy were happy whenever he came by!

Carl helped me and my fiance with a total renovation of our house. We had NO idea what we were doing and he met with us to coordinate a plan, build a budget, and find a builder. He then recommended all interior / exterior paint colors, all lights/fixtures/appliances, and any demo/renovation changes to walls, hallways, and rooms. After construction started, he would regularly check in to oversee the construction process and make sure everything was going smoothly. He has great design sense, but also will work within your price range to find exactly the right piece at the right price. He also prices his time very reasonably and does not try to charge you an arm and leg. We would definitely recommend using Carl for any design needs, big or small, and will likely use Carl again in the future.

Carl and team did a wonderful job helping me (someone who travels 5 days a week) and my wife (someone that is OCD and pregnant) navigate a massive renovation while facing a very pressing deadline. Design was great, house is great, budget was great, but the main thing you will be getting with Carl is someone who can keep you on track. He balances outstanding design ideas with the realities of your budget and timeline. We will use him again and recommend him highly. FYI: we saved more than his entire fee by following his advice.

We've admired Carl's work over the years and it was great to experience it firsthand as we built a new home in our historic neighborhood. Carl has amazing taste and his designs give homes a rare "wow factor." And he has been my right hand in what could have been an overwhelming process of building a home. People ask, "hasn't it been exhausting to have to pick out every detail?!" Carl took care of every little decision for me with my input and direction as needed. Yea, Carl is the reason that everyone that comes over oohs and ahhh's over our details. Carl is very hands on and very in tune with what styles are both in for today but also classically timeless. He kept our builder in check on keeping the project on a roll with the very detailed spreadsheet and concept boards to help avoid onsite mistakes and rework. Carl is pretty much born to design, well, anything.

Carl as a great eye for design and style. He HEARD what I asked for, and he was able to find the colors, products and design to make it work. He is also very responsive, and he made building my home a lot of fun!

Carl is superb at listening to his clients needs and designing his presentation to their vision and not what he may want, as I've seen with other designers. The home we live in today is largely the same as our first presentation board, and he pushed us outside our comfort zone on many items while following our direction to do so. Carl designed an amazing bathroom remodel for us. From a dark slate cave emerged a spacious, clean, and crisp look with a touch of whimsy which is exactly what we were looking for in our project. Carl has great vision and is easy to work with.

My wife and I used Carl to design four rooms, including a tricky large landing area, which is a playspace for our young boys. I've never used an interior designer before, and I was hesitant because we were on a tight budget and I thought all of our budget should go to furniture, paint, etc. I was 100% wrong about that. Carl was able to accomplish way more within our budget than we would have been able to do without him. (Carl got four rooms done in what we would have spent on one room.). AND, the final result was outstanding. Carl was great at collaborating with us and providing terrific options for lighting, tiles, paint colors, furniture, etc. He also worked very had on the extras, such as designing and installing a wallpaper he had made from a picture of our boys. It was a great experience working with Carl. I highly recommend him, and we will use him again.

I found Carl on Houzz.com after combing through hundreds of profiles. I have to admit I was a little nervous about hiring a professional decorator because I didn't know what to expect. I also didn't know how I was going to explain what I wanted done in my single family, craftsman style bungalow home. Traditional? Modern? Dark colors? Warm colors? I didn't have a clue! I just know what I like when I see it. But how would I explain that to Carl? When Carl first came to my house in late October 2013, I felt at ease within minutes. I could tell that he was easygoing, yet fiercely passionate about his work. He asked a lot of questions so that he could get an understanding of my lifestyle, my habits, and my taste. He spent time looking around my house. Then he said (in a very comfortably honest way), that my current design was, for the most part, neutral and safe, and, at the same time, we both said it...BORING. I didn't realize it until then but he was right. He pointed out that I was fun, spunky, and young (at heart!), and that my home should reflect that. I couldn't agree more. From there he offered multiple ideas and within two weeks we had some incredible visions that would stay within my budget. I was beyond excited to get started. The process was fast and efficient (he creates a reasonable timeline and sticks to it), and he followed through on every task. From the beginning Carl emphasized the importance of communication, and his work truly embodies that notion. He was always readily available (whether by email, text, or phone) and open to exploring other options. What I valued most was that he was TRUSTWORTHY. He always had my best interest at heart. By the time all things were said and done in early January 2014 (things would have finished sooner had it not been the hectic holiday season), I was thrilled with my new home. It is warm and inviting, hip and sophisticated, sexy and sleek, and MINE. I can't thank Carl enough. He really is the best at what he does and I couldn't be happier.
