We engaged Carnemark for not one but two significant home renovation projects and we are certainly glad that we did so. The quality of the design effort and the craftmanship of the build out were excellent. Our first project involved the complete residing of the exterior of our home going from horizontal gray to white vertical board and baton siding with new contrasting black framed windows. Carnemark won an award for their design and we were more than pleasantly surprised to see our home featured in a local home design magazine (with our consent, of course). This project also involved renovation of our bathrooms, the build out of a home office and redoing the entrance way to the home. Pictures of the renovation are posted on the firm's website. We had such confidence in Carnemark that 2 years later we returned to have the firm renovate our kitchen and their design and workmanship were again top notch. We wanted a clean design and the Sie-Matic cabinets with "push-to-open" doors allowed us to design a kitchen without any exposed handles offering an ultra-contemporary vibe. We obviously would not have asked Carnemark to take on the second project if we had not been completely satisfied with their workmanship. Finally, to the extent any rework was necessary as was the case with the distinctive front door overhang, Carnemark stood by their design and construction work and returned to rebuild the unit as necessary to make it more resistant to the elements with no questions asked. We would not hesitate to recommend Carnemark to those looking for high-quality design and build services.

We are more than happy to provide a review of Carnemark Design & Build and would recommend them highly without any hesitation. We engaged them about five years ago when we were planning to remodel our house. We were nervous as this was our first foray into "full-house" remodeling and had heard horror stories from our friends of their experience with contractors. However, our trust and confidence grew with every meeting. During the design phase, Carnemark provided detailed analysis and sketches of their proposed options, addressing the various ideas and requirements we had shared; enhancing the aesthetics, while keeping the budget reasonable. During the construction our excellent site project manager made the project almost seem easy as construction proceeded smoothly and within the promised timeline, notwithstanding a very harsh, snowy winter! We enjoyed and looked forward to seeing the progress every week, discussing their often creative solutions to address changes we asked for along the way and any construction challenges that emerged. The team's talent and dedication was an incredible asset throughout the project. They were always very responsive to our issues and concerns, and we felt in good hands throughout every step of the process. The project was completed on time, with meticulous craftsmanship and quality. Despite the extensive nature of our home's remodel, the resulting "new house" blends seamlessly with the original. The end result was masterful and far exceeded our expectations. Since completion of the project (three years ago!) they have been very quick to respond to the few issues we had with equipment or construction nits. We engaged CARNEMARK design and build about 6 years ago for a substantial remodeling of our house including a redesigned kitchen - several rooms were combined and a new master bathroom. The design phase took about 3 months and the construction phase 6 months. CARNEMARK took considerable time to understand our tastes and needs. They suggested several innovative designs and approaches and patiently worked with us to finalize the plans. During the construction phase they were very attentive to our needs - we were confined to two rooms for the duration! Their attention to detail was meticulous and the quality of work was excellent. Six years on the house still looks fantastic. CARMEMARK is not cheap but the price was well worth it.

The worst consumer experience I have ever had. Everything was ok until it wasn't and then it went downhill fast. Would not recommend.

We hired Carnemark 5.5 years ago to do a renovation of our 1957 contemporary home in McLean, VA. They did the design and build. We were very happy with the process and continue to be happy with the results. They are competent, honest, and have integrity. The project was done on time and within the original budget. They stick with their projects and have been very generous with follow ups and any adjustments that have been needed since the work. Their work is beautiful. They will offer a range of prices but will not do shoddy work or use cheap products that won't last. We live amongst giant, poorly built homes and it's a relief to work with a company like this. They are also environmentally conscientious and recycle as much material as possible.

Twelve years ago Carnemark designed and built a beautiful modern kitchen for us, respecting the scale and values of our midcentury modern modest house. They guaranteed their work, and they have provided consistent and cheerful assistance since then. Their record keeping is wonderful, too. A small pendant glass light fixture recently cracked and Julianne found a replacement part in a day!

I worked with Jonas Carnemark on a kitchen/family room addition to our Bethesda traditional colonial. Jonas is energetic, creative and diligent and his employees are true professionals, as is he. Jonas worked closely with me to understand the process of demolition and construction and made accommodations for us so that we could stay in our home during the project. What I liked most about Carnemark is the his ability to his ability to incorporate contemporary elements into the design without compromising the traditional essence of my home. We love our prize winning master bathroom. Jonas the owner created the design with our taste, colors and lifestyle in mind. The workmanship was impeccable, especially the tile work. We did go over budget, but the additional work and higher quality materials all contribute to the stellar results.

Carnemark designed and implemented two major renovations for our home. We had used other contractors in the past, but they are the first ones we ever hired back for a second project. We are already thinking about our third with Carnemark! The first project was primarily outdoor work which was a combination of modernizing our look and fixing some water problems -- stuccoed the exterior, installed a metal roof, installed a glass and metal front door entrance and garage door, buried electric and cable wires, replaced cement driveway, installed slate and stainless steel rails at front entrance, installed new outdoor house and yard lighting and fixed a leaky basement wall. We were so pleased with this work, that we rehired them 2 years later for an interior overhaul -- new modern kitchen, reconfigured floor plan, updated bathroom, installed stainless steel railings and steps, new lighting, new air-conditioning duct work and radiators, and new large format tile flooring throughout.
