Chillcoots has been building custom homes since 1996. Our reputation has been built through quality work, honest communication, and integrity in everything we do. Chillcoots is a regional custom home construction business established by Mark Bjerken and based in Winter Park, Colorado. In 1986 Mark moved to Colorado from Bemidji, Minnesota and brought with him the time-honored tradition of an honest work ethic. Expanding upon his experience in Minnesota residential construction, he took a job in a local cabinet and mill-work shop where he honed his skills for the next nine years. In 1995, Mark formed Chillcoots and began his career in the custom home construction market. Building off its success as a local Grand County, Colorado business, Chillcoots has expanded its reach with several custom projects throughout the state and beyond. Chillcoots has established itself as a regional custom home builder willing to go the “extra mile.”

Tony, Mark, and the Chillcoots team built a beautiful home for us in Winter Park, CO. Their team was professional, transparent, and provided excellent communication throughout our homebuilding process. We have a few friends who are contractors in Denver and upon seeing our home, have consistently remarked at the high quality and excellent finishes throughout. Our build occurred during a time when prices were starting to skyrocket due to tariffs and demand shifts. The Chillcoots team ensured that we were not blindsided by these pricing shifts during our building process and also have followed through on the inevitable small issues and hiccups that always occur after a move-in. Most important, when problems arose during the build, Chillcoots was great about taking ownership, communicating, and moving forward in a productive way, even when the issue wasn't Chillcoots' fault (which happened a few times due to a wayward design pro who we will sadly not use again). Chillcoots has tremendous experience in building beautiful, traditional mountain homes, however the team didn't hesitate to work with us to build a contemporary, more streamlined mountain home. Tony was great to collaborate with and to bounce ideas off of, and was also honest when he thought some of my ideas would not work well, which I appreciated. Our build was truly a fun, creative process. I would not hesitate to work with Chilcoots again in the future.

We have had the pleasure of working with Chillcoots as our General Contractor led by Mark Bjerken during the construction of three personal custom home builds in Winter Park, CO. They say the third time’s a charm, but with Chillcoots we can say all three of our homes were awesome experiences. Building a custom home is a huge undertaking with endless coordination, decisions and selections. Building a custom home at 9,000 feet where the ground is covered in snow 6+ months of the year adds additional complexity. Working with a well-established local contractor, like Chillcoots, mitigates the risks associated with building in Grand County, CO. Chillcoots is staffed with a fun local crew including experienced project managers and skillful and knowledgeable craftsman. Mark and his team also have longstanding relationships with local sub-contractors which helps ensure your project is completed by professionals in a timely manner. Chillcoots provides transparency via detailed estimations, comprehensive budgeting and sets realistic expectations which limits surprises as your home is constructed. Our homes were all built within budget and on schedule and our expectations were always met or exceeded. We wake up every day thankful to be living in a beautiful and functional work of art. Chillcoots and their professional top-notch team gets our vote (times three) for the best General Contractor in Grand County.

I could go on and on about how great Mark and Chillcoots are, but the best thing I can say is that if I had it to do all over again, I would definitely go with Chillcoots and there isn't anything I would change about the house. This was our first home build and Mark and his team were with us every step of the way. They worked with the architect during the design phase and contributed some invaluable input as we decided on layout. They helped with everything from fixtures to exterior colors. The house is about 4,000 sq ft they started in May and had us moved in the 1st of February. We have been in the home for over a year now and we only had one minor issue which Chillcoots handled immediately.

I have no complaints with Chillcoots and maintain a companionship with a number of their workers. Me and my wife contracted with Chillcoots on recommendation of a Realtor and never had a reason to doubt them. They built our home, and it was a real joy to us both. We never disagreed with them and the quality and attention to detail that they brought to the project was unbelievable. I have built a bunch of commercial projects in Kansas City where I felt that I had to be there or something would go wrong. I never felt that way with Chillcoots. Recently, I had to use a general contractor to repair a major problem and I called Chillcoots.

Our project was a full house remodel that entailed a majority of the old house being taken down to the foundation. Mark was with us at the planning stage and made several suggestions to save costs and get us the design we envisioned. Our site manager Scott was on top of every detail and communicated frequently and effectively which was so important since we live out of state. As a remodel there were several instances when changes to original plans were needed and these challenges were met with knowledgeable input from both Mark and Scott. Their craftsmanship has given us a beautiful mountain home. We cannot overstate the confidence we have in this company. The attention to detail and commitment to quality is amazing.

The construction quality was excellent, they were easy to work with, and they addressed issues that arose even after the warranty period. The project was completed under budget, in spite of changes I requested. They made several suggestions during construction to improve the house.

Chillcoots is the best builder in Grand County. Chillcoots has very experienced crews that spend the time to make sure your home is constructed with the best craftsmanship. The process was very smooth and any challenges were handled upfront and honestly. Communication was outstanding. Given their level of experience, they were able to work with the architect to make changes that had a huge impact on our project. Chillcoots doesn't undercut the project to get the work. Our budget was very clear cut and straightforward. We wouldn't change anything in terms of design or process. They are the best.
