We hired Design Alternatives to gut, add on and remodel our house. We gave them the ideas and they drew up plans which we approved. In fact they offered some nice ideas to enhance our project. From start to finish they worked closely with us, making sure we were satisfied. We would highly recommend them and if we have another project, will be our first call.

My wife and I decided to build our dream contemporary house on 2 acres of land that we had recently purchased. For a project of this nature it was important that we hire the right professionals. We interviewed multiple builders and Mike was by far the best. What we liked the most about Mike was that he understood and I think honestly enjoyed working with us on the house. His combination of being an architect and builder was incredibly valuable as he could make real-time decisions and give us counsel when our actual architect didn't. Designing and building a house can put a strain on any relationship, but Mike's "bedside manor" always kept my wife and I calm when problems arose. Mike was attentive. He hired only the very best contractors. Many of which he has had relationships that span in some cases more than 20 years. If you are considering a builder I would definitely hire Mike. He may not be your cheapest option, but as someone who debated the cost I can tell you that you get what you pay for. Probably the biggest endorsement that I can give him is that we are in touch to this day and we are looking for other projects that we can work on together.

Working with Mike Bowers is a breath of fresh air. The first time we met him was to look at a home we were considering buying. He came to the house and on the spot gave his architectural and design assessments, also letting us know a ballpark of the renovation costs. We immediately knew we wanted to work with him no matter what house we bought. He is professional, responsive and organized. He's also a great communicator and delivers on time, as promised. The home we ended up purchasing needed various updates ranging from hardwood floors to a new shower door to electrical work/lights/ceiling fans to a new kitchen island. Mike managed all of the vendors with precision and recommended others to us -- carpet and hardware -- who were equally great. For the few vendors we went out and found on our own, I regretted not going with Mike's. We look forward to working with Mike for phase two of our renovation: finishing out the basement.

I have had Design Alternatives do several projects for me, the latest was building a small garage and pool house. They are professional, high quality builders that work with you to make your project everything you want it to be. The level of detail that they go into with a project is amazing. If you can dream it, they can build it. I highly recommend them and would use them on future projects.

Design Alternatives built my new house and did a fantastic job. The project lasted for 18 months and was very detail oriented with some unexpected problems along the way (including discovering our foundation needed to be built over an active spring and running into some complicated drainage work for the property). Design Alternatives made dealing with the problems very easy and they worked great with our architects. Overall it was a great experience and I highly recommend them.
