Erin Vince and the entire Distinctive Design team worked magic on our kitchen and bathroom. These rooms were completely transformed from drab ugly to absolutely stunning! The entire house was freshened up with new carpet fresh paint new flooring and refinished hard wood floors . We love our new spaces !

My husband and I are thrilled we chose Distinctive Design in undertaking the renovation of our master bath and master closet. The results are spectacular and exactly what we envisioned. We began this renovation project after buying a second home in Charlotte. We had to find a contractor and design team comfortable managing this project with our being on the west coast. After interviewing several renovation teams, we chose Erin and Vince because of their knowledge, design and contractor strengths. In addition they are a fantastic team and so personable. In the midst of choosing Distinctive Design and beginning the project, COVID lockdowns began. We had to rely on Erin and Vince 100% to make sure the design and construction were managed well. Erin was patient and reliable in sending us samples for all our choices and creating a design that more than met our expectations. In the design phase, Erin listened to our needs and created different solutions. Finalizing the plan by phone and material choices by mail worked extremely well for us due to Erin’s knowledge and skill as a designer. As the general contractor, Vince and his chosen contractors did a top notch job in creating reality from the plans. I give Vince a score of A+++ in the workmanship and craft of the renovation and managing all aspects of the construction and making our dreams become a reality. Budget wise, this Distinctive Design Team renovation came in as planned. I love walking into our new master bath and closet. I am always delighted in looking at the material choices, colors and beautiful construction. Each time I see the bath and closet, I smile. This renovation has made me look forward to being in our Charlotte home. We recommend Erin and Vince and Distinctive Design to anyone who is looking to remodel. Having never gone through a major renovation before, meeting with a general contractor filled us with anxiety. These nerves quickly turned to excitement as we spoke with Erin and Vince from Distinctive Designs. The plans as presented by Erin brought our visions of a new master bath and kitchen to life! We would like to take this opportunity to share our experience with Distinctive Design/Build/Remodel during our kitchen remodel project. We purchased our home in 2006. From the first we felt the kitchen space was not our idea of a great kitchen. We discussed, for years, the idea of a remodel and we finally decided to move forward with a plan for a complete redesign. Distinctive Design came highly recommended. We had a list of a number of redesign companies and began calling them for an evaluation. Erin and Vince were the first to come to see us and we were so impressed by their professionalism that we decided to go with Distinctive Design/Build/Remodel. Erin and Vince met with us, at our home on a number of occasions, and guided us through the entire design process through which our concepts could be made real. The process was much more complex than we anticipated but Erin and Vince’s design and construction management expertise was invaluable in assisting us toward the development of the ideal kitchen. We had some thoughts of what we wanted but Erin provided us with an extensive range of design possibilities and resources that made us realize that our new kitchen could far exceed our initial concept. Everything from layout to architectural enhancements as well as supplier availability was considered and discussed at length. Her esthetic sense was invaluable in producing a kitchen that we would love. We were presented with detailed drawings and renderings that allowed us to see where we were going. At every step of the process, Erin was immediately available to provide answers and guidance. We had a lot of questions concerning the construction phase. How long was it going to take? How much disruption to our lives and home, how much dust and dirt? Vince laid out the entire process, in detail, for us. He addressed every one of our concerns as well as some we never considered. The entire project, and each individual step was accompanied by a timeline that was rigidly adhered to so that we knew, every day down to the hour, where we were in the process and where we were going. Any question we asked was answered with a thorough explanation and on occasion, a demonstration. No issue was too small to address. We learned quite a lot about the science and application of the building process. His supervision and management of the contractors was superb. His complete professionalism was demonstrated time and time again. He also has a great sense of humor which went a long way in easing our anxiety. For Elizabeth and I this was, by far, the largest and most complex home project we ever entertained. Distinctive Design/Build/Remodel was the perfect choice as witnessed by the final result. A beautiful kitchen that is everything we could have hoped for. HI Vince and Erin, I wanted to let you know all the years of enjoyment that we have had out of our Distinctive Design/Build covered deck. We have been so proud of the work that you did for us 7 years ago and had so many years of enjoyment. Vince, you were so easy to work with and it was evident that your passion was to provide a product to us that we would enjoy for many years. You have achieved your goal! Jack and I have had so many compliments over the years and we have had so many special moments of watching games and events outside and spending time with family and friends outside. The gas fireplace was the icing on the cake! Jack and I decided to put our house on the market this past March. We knew that our deck would sell our house quickly, which it did! The new owners are just as excited about it as we are and we are thrilled! We must say that you spoiled us because our number one thing that we were looking for in a new home was an outdoor space that we could enjoy as much or more than or deck/patio in Holly Hill Farms. Working with Erin and Vince was a pleasure. They redesigned and rebuilt the outdated custom cabinetry in our family room. The new sections match the older trim perfectly but give the entire room a more updated look. Would recommend them without hesitation!

I recently worked with Erin and Vince at Distinctive Design /Build on our first project with them that utilized the USG Durock Shower System on two showers. The customer wanted a barrier-free shower floor for the master shower that was located on the second floor measuring approximately 3 ft. x 9 ft. long. As with all projects there are times that the remodeler has to come up with creative solutions to solve problems that will satisfy the homeowners needs. For me, it is during these times that the true measures of a remodeling company or any company become apparent. I found that Distinctive Design/ Build delivers on their commitment to professionalism and getting the job done right -- the first time. They will use and leverage new technologies to deliver on satisfying the homeowners needs. They not only delivered but exceeded the homeowners expectations and they exceeded my own expectations. We bought our home on the shores of Lake Norman several years ago. This past summer, it was finally time to expand our small, worn-out porch overlooking the lake. We initially hired a landscaper to help us create the outdoor living space we craved but we soon realized we needed an experienced General Contractor and remodeling pro to help guide us through the process of not only getting permits to build out a deck but also removing several structural columns holding up the back of our house. Our goal was to make the backyard more accessible, to make the porch larger with an expanded deck and a built-in hot tub, and to create an unobstructed view of the lake. Thankfully, we found Distinctive Design / Build / Remodel and they helped guide us through the design and construction of our outdoor living space which has become a favorite gathering spot for friends and family. We had plenty of challenges to overcome. Most of them had to do with getting approval to build the deck and take down the load-bearing columns. But Vince Busby, the General Contractor and one of the owners of Distinctive Design / Build / Remodel, was very good at helping us navigate that process. Because our house is on a septic system, and it’s in close proximity to the lake, there were several hoops Vince had to jump through to secure a building permit. He also took care of all the engineering required to safely remove four columns on our back porch. What we ended up with is just a wide, open, beautiful area that brings the view of the lake right into our home. Distinctive Design / Build / Remodel was great – not only with the work that was done but also in getting the design right and helping us configure the deck and built-in hot tub. Because of their knowledge and experience, they were able to come up with a strategy for us to get rid of as many railings as we possibly could while still meeting code. This required careful planning and attention to detail as well as coordination with the landscaper. It was like putting together a large puzzle and every piece had to fit just right. Vince and his team were very creative. But, also, just as important – they were great craftsmen. The work was done very well. The jobsite was very clean at the end of every day. Professional – that’s the word I would use to describe Distinctive Design / Build / Remodel. From beginning to end, Vince put us at ease, listened to what it was we wanted to achieve, and helped us overcome every obstacle quickly and efficiently. Early on, we told Vince we wanted a low-maintenance deck and he recommending products like the Fiberon deck boards which are a composite made from recycled materials. Instead of spending time and money sanding, staining or painting our deck – we will simply be able to enjoy it for years to come with no worries. That makes me very happy! Our just-completed renovation included siding, windows, repairing some water damaged areas, removing and rebuilding a newly designed deck and completing some structural work to expand a closet area. I appreciated the attention to detail and the significantly high level of craftsmanship which makes my house stand out from the others. Beyond the expertise this team provided, they were friendly, easy to work with, provided ongoing communication and took the time to explain any challenges they uncovered which allowed us to make informed decisions. It was a true partnership from start to finish. I also found them extremely trustworthy and honest- traits which were essential for us when selecting a builder. From the beginning I knew this remodeling project would be different than others. My wife and I have remodeled our home and our commercial building. In those instances we felt that we were chasing our contractors for details, solid goals, and completion of the project. With Distinctive Design and Build we were put at ease immediately. They focused on what we wanted out of our remodeling project to suit our family, our goals, and our lifestyle. We were given clear advice and parameters about the work before we ever began. Our back deck was old, in full afternoon sun, and mosquitos made it nearly impossible to enjoy. I wanted shade, comfort, and protection from the mosquitos. Working with Distinctive Design & Build was a pleasure from the very start. They actually followed up (many other contracting companies came, and we never heard from them again) and moved the process along as quickly as possible. Their design team is top notch, and brings beautiful ideas to the table. All of the various professions we worked with (builders, electricians, masons, gutter installation) were friendly and professional. I highly recommend this company. They are top notch.
