DNA Design Group was founded in 2001, by Danish architect Jesper Pedersen and his wife Catherine, to bring the best of European design and expertise to the US. Located in La Jolla, CA, with offices in Orange and LA County, DNA is a full-service design firm. DNA's Design and Build Division draws upon years of varied experience in the architecture and design industries offering services both locally and internationally. I rarely write reviews, but I feel that I really needed to write one this time. DNA has completely re-designed our personal residence 12 years ago. They did such a great job and were so attentive to our ideas, to what was important to us, and the ergonomics of the complex space an managed to design a beautiful and timeless modern home that we have been enjoying ever since. The communications was always very straight forward, and considering the caliber of design, the fees were very reasonable. Because of that great previous experience, we recently had DNA re-design a very modern 4,000 Ocean view house that came out truly amazing and most of all on budget! I would definitely recommend DNA

I have done numerous renovations in Palm Beach, Fl, Greenwich, CT, Martha’s Vineyard, MA, and La Jolla, CA. Without a doubt, my kitchen renovation with DNA Design Group was the smoothest, and most professional experience I have ever had. Through blind faith, I hired DNA Design Group to do a total kitchen design and renovation project in California while I was living full time on the East Coast. Jesper and Millene handled the whole project with absolute precision in design, material quality, as well as cost estimation. Every deadline was met exactly as outlined. The only “surprise” in the project was when I arrived in California to find an absolutely gorgeous kitchen that far exceeded my expectations!

When we were contacted by architect designer Jesper for his new project, we were presented to meet specific design aesthetics and also technical challenges; large format porcelain tiles which could be used for inside and outside spaces, a minimal design but yet still a handsome material. Having worked with Jesper previously, we presented a small but carefully selected choice materials. His final choice was Lavica which worked amazingly with his demanding design. Jesper's firm DNA Design blends pure & simple with minimalist European sophistication. It is always a pleasure working with Jesper and his great, expert, friendly design team.

We have been using DNA since 2001. They are incredibly reliable, honest and creative. We felt in love with their design to the point that we can’t go back to anything else. Everything they have done for us remains in great condition and up to date. We’ve used their services for two major renovations and upgrades and after 17 years we are about to go through a new small uograde and here they are as good as when we first met them so many years ago. He listened closely to my vision, asked smart questions, and spent a lot of time early in the process to make sure the plans were right. I met with 3 design groups for a kitchen/bar room remodel for a mid-century house and went with Jesper, the owner. Jesper brought me to several of his job sites to look at finishes and construction details. He was really easy to work with and he was on call from start to finish the entire time. Communication was great. I was able to talk to his past clients and everyone had very high remarks for him and the team. He was able to recommend a great contractor and even some extra sub-contractors for specialty items. His ideas are clean, fresh and modern which is exactly what we wanted. He was able to recommend European cabinetry and went back and forth to make sure every detail was taken care of. The other designers and contractors I met with had a 'flip' mentality similar to HGTV which I didn't want.

After trying a couple of other previous designers, I came across Jesper and his right hand Millene at DNA designs. They have been leading remodel efforts at my house in La Jolla, for entire house. Since the start, their professionalism and efficient approach was evident. And at a reasonable cost. No fuzz, time efficient, and with a superb taste that differentiates them vs other local designers. Jesper brings an attention to detail that’s impressive, with his European roots (Denmark), while being a pleasure to work with. He’s also well connected to contractors and always open to find ways to save the client money. Bottom line: differentiated taste, efficiency, professionalism, and flexible to the clients needs. Strongly recommend them.
