Douglah review After living in our house for over 25 years, we decided to redo our kitchen - appliances, cabinets, floors, countertops, lighting, etc. We also wanted to update our laundry room and hallway bathroom. We were looking for a business that would handle everything from design to installation. We met with Leila Douglah and her staff in their showroom in Lafayette. Fast forward 2 years, and we now have a wonderful kitchen, laundry room and bathroom, and except for the purchase of the major appliances (refrigerator, ovens and cooktop), we never had to work with anyone else. We are very happy with the results, and while there were some snags in the construction process (that may or may not have been partly Douglah’s fault), the entire process went professionally and smoothly. Douglah Designs is an all-in-one design/construction service. As you might expect, the total cost of the kitchen remodel was probably higher than if we did more of the legwork ourselves and used multiple vendors. But there are certainly advantages to offset the increased expense. The project was seamless and professional. Many of the craftsmen that Douglah Design uses are employees, not contracted. There is no finger pointing between designers and contractors; they all work together to use make things work. To us, the extra expense was definitely worth it. My wife and I are pretty picky when it comes to design, and Leila and her staff were very patient with us. We did have a similar esthetic, so we were usually on the same page from the start. Leila and Rachel Steely had a level of experience and industry knowledge that was a great advantage. Watching them work on the design and materials selection was very impressive and gave us high confidence that they REALLY knew what they were doing. As we realized, designing a kitchen is actually quite a complicated process, with thousands of details that we would not have even known about, let alone been able to address. But the designs and plans handled every detail and issue beautifully. Douglah recommended vendors and products with which they had experience and confidence, which saved us the trouble of having to vet each product, and which gave us confidence in the products. One limitation of working with Douglah Designs is that you are somewhat limited to products and vendors with which they are familiar and confident, so that may constrain your choices (and which may increase the cost of the project). But we felt that limited choices and extra cost were outweighed by the dependability and quality of the products that Douglah recommended. Overall, we were very happy working with Douglah Designs. They are not for everyone - if you have a different esthetic, or a different budget, or want more control over the process, you probably would be happier elsewhere. But if you want a top notch design and installation and have the budget, we highly recommend Douglah Designs.

We recently completed a full kitchen remodel with Douglah Designs, and couldn't be happier. The work is excellent, the service professional, and communication outstanding. Before signing the final contract we had a budget down to the penny and a timeline down to the day. Everything was completed as promised, and they went the extra mile on everything. We will definitely use them again if we have additional projects and would highly recommend them.

We worked with Leila and Douglah Designs to remodel our kitchen, pantry, laundry room, courtyard, and to install new flooring through most of our first floor. Through each stage of this effort she and her team were engaged and took the time to get to know us, allowing them to guide us through the process while personalizing the design to what would work best for our family. An effort of this magnitude can be stressful but Douglah Designs seamlessly managed the logistics. They drafted detailed plans, met with us to make sure that we were comfortable with all aspects of project, received HOA approval, and of course managed the various teams who put it all together. The Douglah team and their partners were the best! They were thorough in their designs, materials, and never cut corners. We are at the very end of the effort and the results are stunning! The sophistication of the design is that it not only looks great but it feels like this is what the space was meant to be. As we end this project we are thinking of additional areas of the house that we’d like to update, based on the success with this effort we could not imagine not using Douglah Designs.

Let me tell you about our experience with Douglah Designs. Three years ago, we started the first phase our home renovation focusing on kitchen and bathroom. Linda Cooper from Douglah Designs designed both our kitchen and bath. Linda was fantastic, extremely knowledgeable and created wonderful designs within our budget. Linda on many occasions went above and beyond with help and information she assisted us with. Anyone who has gone through construction knows how trying it can be, the best part of our renovation experience was Linda Cooper and the ladies at Douglah Designs; big shout out to them. We also worked with the owner, Leila Douglah and her crew to complete some smaller projects around the house that were needed. We can honestly say that the entire team at Douglah Designs is the best that myself and husband have worked with. The entire team cares about the project they were working on no matter how small the task was. Over the years we have had many contractors doing work on our home, but none of them were to the caliber or standards of the Douglas Designs team. We wish could have used the team for our entire project. We will definitely be working with this team again in the future on other project as we proceed with second Phase and third Phase of renovating our home.

We have completed two significant home remodeling projects with Douglah Designs and are thinking about a third! Both projects were finished on time and on budget. The quality of the workmanship is excellent. Leila and all the team consistently provide outstanding customer service, with our satisfaction being the only priority. One thing that attracted us to Douglah Designs is that they are a design and build firm. This benefits the buyer several ways. When they design a project they have to think about the construction component, they don't just come up with a pretty concept and leave the practical details to others. In fact, the construction team is integrated into the design phase. When it comes to construction the builders have easy access to the designers for any issues that come up. The work crews that do the installation are full time staff. They are experienced craftsmen and they excel at the tricky business of working in a person's home. They are respectful of us and our property, and considerate; no radios blasting loud music all day. One more thing that makes Douglah special is the broad range of quality components they can show. The work performed in our kitchen was amazingly good. We had a full remodel with demolition, new electrical, new plumbing, new gas, new lighting, new counters, all new appliances, and the best design work we could have imagined. The crew (NO SUBS!) cleaned up every day day and we were able to smile the whole job through because they were pleasant, efficient, knowledgeable, and helpful. The part that was most amazing is that they finished one day before the promised date and everything works perfectly. We asked for some additional work to be added to the original contract and that still did not delay them. The change orders were fairly priced and we were not taken advantage of due to those changes. Douglah Designs has the experience and the staff to do your job as you want it, at the price agreed upon, and on time. I highly recommend them if ever your needs require the best remodeling a company can offer.

Design ideas have build cost implications and we believe clients need to understand this during each step of the design process. We've all heard people's nightmares with remodeling/contractors. With no exceptions, Douglah Designs came through with flying colors. My project, a kitchen remodel, was clearly outlined and organized from start to finish, in fact, they remained ahead of schedule. The contractors/workers were a pleasure to be around, continually concerned about imposing on me...which they weren't. The attention to detail throughout the project was perfection...and I'm a fairly picky person! The designers had great ideas and held my hand through the selection of products, from lighting to cabinet layout. The entire process was a pleasure in working with this company.
