My wife Stacey and I began looking for a custom builder to help us make our dreams come true by developing a vacation cottage and eventually our permanent residence on a 3 acre undeveloped lakefront property. Based on recommendations from others and our personal meetings and evaluations, we choose Johnson Group Builders to help our visions become a reality. Doug Wickens was our first contact with the company and he quickly instilled in a us a sense of trust. He was our "project manager", guiding us through the process, developing a budget and timeline, and helping us to understand the entire project. There were elements of the project we were very clear about, and other parts where we just weren't sure what we wanted to do. That is where the rest of the team stepped in and contributed to our complete satisfaction. Mike Van Horn was the architect for our project and he did a remarkable job of listening to what was important to us and blending it with suggestions that were relevant to our personal styles and desires. The 3D renderings that accompanied the plans were incredibly helpful in turning drawings into a visual understanding of what we were developing together. The plans to build the cottage were completed in (2) revisions (preliminary and final) with minimal alterations to get from where we started to what was built. His ideas were smart and consistent with our desires for the project. Ivan Wickens and Amy Riebel took the plans and helped us to add the style and personal touches we wanted into our own space. They guided us through selection processes and did a fantastic job of managing the execution of the building process, especially since we were doing this from over 400 miles away. They were flexible in meeting with us and very accommodating throughout the entire process. Both Ivan and Amy have the highest of standards regarding quality and the expertise to be very effective in both encouraging and tempering (when necessary) our styles to develop a wonderful finished project. Tim Johnson was a pleasure to work with as well and we are very much looking forward to developing our dream home with Tim and his team. Our project has several unusual challenges, but based on our experience so far and what the Johnson Builders Group has demonstrated to us in their professionalism, attention to detail, and craftsmanship, we are so excited about the journey we are on with this team.

We hired Johnson Group Builders to do an extensive renovation of our home. We were so pleased with the professionalism of the workers and the excellent workmanship. They were on time and under budget to boot! We would certainly hire them again and have recommended them to several of our friends.

We contracted The Johnson Group to build our cottage on a small lake. Before selecting them we spoke with numerous other builders and considered contracting it ourselves. We selected them for a number of reasons which all proved to be correct in the end. It took eight months from the time we first spoke with them until we signed a contract and they were there to assist and answer any questions through the entire time. When our discussions first started all we had was an idea from a home we had once been in and a lousy hand drawn sketch and they worked with us to bring it to fruition. As cost was important to us, they they worked with us to design something that fulfuilled our dreams and stayed within our budget. Since we have started the building process they have looked above and beyond for ways to save money and any savings they have found they have passed directly along to us. They have established relationships with suppliers that enable them to purchase quality materials at wholesale prices. This was a key factor in our decision to utilize their services rather than doing this project on our own. This isn't the first home we've built, it isn't the first contractor we've worked with, but it is truly the one we'd recommend first.
