We asked Ian to design a mid century modern house, and he did. We love it. The house is flooded with light, bright, and comfortable to live in. Ian has a keen eye for detail and knows what will or will not work. He suggested a combination of concrete, wood and metal on the exterior which is super. We enjoyed working with Ian and Aaron, who was in charge of running the day to day on the build. We love our FLASHhouse home in Oak Bay, and we love the team behind the house too. In fact, we were so impressed with their work that we selected FLASHhouse again to build our dream cabin. The house was completed over 7 years ago, on time and on budget. Its design features still bring us joy to this day. The main bedroom is so luxurious, sometimes we hide there from our kids with a glass of wine and a good book (true story). The open layout on the main floor is highly functional, but so very stylish. We love to host family and friends and the space delivers for us every time. Turning to our cabin - this is truly a work of art. The architecture is striking and unique, and the cabin is also warm and inviting. We wanted the cabin to feel nestled within nature, and the outcome surpassed our expectations. As with all projects, there are bumps along the way. What we love most about Ian and his FLASHhouse team is the proactive approach to honest communication. Building with them is very much a team process. And if you are lucky enough to have Aaron running the project, you are in expert hands - he is kind, efficient, and very talented at his job.

Ian is an absolute professional to work with. He came up with an architectural form that was modern and cost effective to build. This was a Dwell inspired 3 bedroom house with a legal 1 bedroom suite. From start to finish he kept us up to date with the construction schedule and the budget. The site was always tidy. We ran slightly over budget and time as we hit a small knob of rock during the excavation. The total build time was 4 months. Ian's team was quick to respond to a couple of small deficiencies after completion. I would highly recommend him.

FLASHhouse Inc. completed a design build home for me earlier this year. Ian Roberts, the principal, was able to design a highly architectural home with a very, very modest budget. The end product was a fabulous modern infill home with a legal suite that was great quality in both design and construction, and was on budget! Ian and his team are very well organized, courteous to the neighbours, very obliging, and extremely quality conscious. I would highly recommend FLASHhouse! I will definitely work with them again.

FLASHhouse desigend us a light filled home that is sculptural and functional, open concept yet still intimate, great for a party but liveable every day, modern and yet not stark. The house takes beautiful advantage of the light and maximizes our livable space without dominating the lot. We could not be more delighted with Ian's design or his vision.

Ian Roberts designed and built our new home for us and we are beyond thrilled with it! Not only was it amazing to work with one person from the very beginning right through to the end, but Ian's eye for detail resulted in a gorgeous and comfortable home.
