Working with the team from Gerber Berend was fantastic from beginning to end. Hiring a design-build firm freed my husband and I to be as creative as we wanted. Architects, Jeff Gerber and David Hoffman took the time to really understand and include our desires throughout the home from the initial concept meetings to the final plan. When an idea was not possible or too costly they spent time educating and helping us find alternatives. Most of the alternative ideas ended up better than the original concept. The GB team includes architects, designers, engineers and a full build team which means plans can be evaluated in terms of aesthetics, logistics and cost all under one roof. Since the design team and the build team are part of the same company, each side weighed in on the plans, communicated the pros and cons to us and supported each other seamlessly. The build team was talented, organized, easy to communicate with and helped us track our budget throughout. The design team continued to participate and communicate with us as well every step of the way. Tom and I learned how to get the most impact from each material, how to use lighting to enhance instead of detract from the interior of our home, which material upgrades were truly meaningful and which upgrades we could skip without compromising our vision for the look and feel of the home. Each GB team member we met at every level is an artist in his or her own right with an interesting story and enthusiasm for the work at hand and the firm. The result is a deeply personal home that exceeded our expectations in every way and still stayed within a budget we could work with

Working together with GB Design Build was truly a professional experience that turned into long term frienships. Both projects...starting with a master bathroom in our town house in Steamboat Springs ....leading into a huge project....pictured as "Mountain Elegance" on the Project page. After my first experience in the townhouse I knew we had our Contractor, Hans Berend, and Architect Jeff Gerber along with Kande Iken, Bert Larson and a myriad of other important names....Ryan, Dan, Skip, too many more to mention! As an interior designer myself and living in Boca Raton, Florida I needed a talented group with the ability to transform a tired but "Great Bones" home into a 2015 home capturing my ideas and bringing them into reality. Room by room we picked out the important areas to work on, including painting every inch of this approximately 6,400 SF home. The Master Bathroom and Kitchen were the major makeovers, although every room was touched by the project. Decisions of what to get rid of and what could be saved were discussed and jointly choices were made. A phone call one day came in telling me that we had two extra gorgeous windows in the master bathroom, found during the construction ( obviously the former owners decided to nix them in their project while building...so they covered them....how crazy is that!! ) which gave this room the ceiling height...light.... and views not to be believed. I can go on and on...but as you can see from the photos....furnishing this "New" beautiful home was a treat for me and made easier because of GB Design Build. Designers can have the best ideas and taste but without implementing them properly and in a timely fashion it wouldn't happen. If there was a 10 Star rating ....they would get it from me! My clients and I are about 2/3 of the way through a large remodel with Gerber Berend Design Build. I have found their team to be great to work with on many levels. Hans Berend promotes the importance of working collaboratively which brings an exciting synergy of viewpoints to the project. The teams' creativity and construction expertise brings wonderful and yet practical ideas to the table. Bert is on site for all of the construction questions and to make sure the details are covered, and the 3-D models Tanya has created have enabled our clients to visualize the final proposed design before the construction even started. The 3-D model also allows for all aspects to be discussed with the knowledge that the client can really understand what is being proposed, thus minimizing "surprises!" Our clients are thrilled with the results to date and excited to move back into their home this spring! It is a pleasure to work with the Gerber Berend Design Build team!

We wanted a remodel that required a sensitive and competent touch. The staff are all intelligent, caring, polite and professional. All are welcome as friends now. There were, as you can imagine a few small hiccups along the way. What made this team special is the way these hiccups were dealt with leaving us in no doubt that we will always use them. Why? Because they do the right hang and don't walk away from a job that is unfinished.

We worked with Gerber Berend Design Build on two extensive additions to our house. They were fabulous in every respect. Hans, Jeff and all of their staff were a pleasure to work with, were excellent both in the design and construction phases of the projects, did outstanding and beautiful work, and were just as accessable after the project was completed as during the project. They are extremely reliable and both projects came in on time and on budget. Everyone from Hans and Jeff to the last carpenter takes great pride in their work and treated the house as if it was their own. I recommend Gerber Berend to you without reservation and will use them again for any renovation or construction project in Steamboat.

We had two bathrooms renovated. Our first floor guest bath had no sink, so Gerber Berend moved the existing toilet and added a small corner sink and replaced the floor with slate. In our master bath, we replaced the vanity and had a built-in added over the toilet and replaced the floor with slate tile. All of the work was done in a timely fashion with updates sent to us on a regular basis. This is a second home and we were not in town for the renovation. As always, Gerber Berend Design did a wonderful job for us. In the past we have used them for a major renovation of our main living floor area and we have absolutely been satisfied with all of the work, the cost, and the followup.

I have worked on numerous projects with Gerber Berend Design Build and I honestly say they are one of my favorite companies to work with. Gerber Berend is cohesive team of professionals who are top notch communicators with their subs. Their crew of supervisors, carpenters and other subs are extremely conscientious and are definitely "team players" with all others on the jobs site. They provide high quality work on a variety of different types of jobs and they have an eye for details. They provide ample notice for me to be at their jobs and they stick to their timelines well. They have always been very prompt with paying deposits and invoices that I submit to them. I do not know of any other design/building company in the Steamboat Springs area that operates and smoothly as the Gerber Berend team.

Kande helped me with new carpet and paint. I was at first overwhelmed with carpet choices (when I looked on my own). Kande made my choice easy and I love the outcome. The painter was an artist and the carpet installer did an excellent job in some tricky areas. Would recommend them for sure!

Even before we purchased our house, Gerber Berend provided an inspection so we knew about key structural and functional issues so we could be confident we were making a good investment. They helped us mitigate foundational structural issues and mold issues in advance. After our purchase was completed, the project began. From beginning to final construction, we have been extremely pleased. The design, planning, organization, management, and timely completion of our projected exceeded our expectations. Their team of skilled workers were courteous, knowledgeable, and diligent. Timely reports were submitted and our project was completed on schedule. We now have an asset that is worth much more than our original investment. We are very satisfied and would recommend Gerber Berend Design with great confidence.

We hired Gerber Berend for three different projects. The first was several years ago when we completely remodelled our kitchen. Then last September 2012, we hired them to replace a lot of windows in our mountain home and to remodel a powder room. Finally, in April 2013, we hired them to install wood flooring throughout the main floor of the house, and to replace some doors and woodwork. We felt the team was always professional, easy to contact, and fair in price. The results were superb. I would definitely hire them again and recommend them to our friends. The staff provides complete service, from helping with paint colors, to advising on sinks and plumbing fixtures. You could tell that everyone had the knowledge and experience to produce a great finished result.
