Glickman Design Build

I would definitely recommend Glickman for your home renovation, especially if you have unique needs (e.g., ageing in place, ADA design, etc.). In my case, we needed to renovate and expand an existing bathroom in our Washington, DC home to accommodate the needs of my 9-year-old disabled daughter. It was about an 8 month process (from the time of the first introductory meeting until the first use of the renovated bath). Kelly - and then John, as our main point person once the project began - were there with us every step of the way. As a Design Build firm, Glickman handled everything, from initial conceptual design to drawings to pulling permits to the required inspections. I cannot overstate how significant this is. The stress and time we saved from not having to find different companies/contractors to use at various stages was significant. As to the project itself, we really appreciated John's professionalism and attention to detail. And his coordination/work with the plumbing, electrical, and other subcontractors was superb. Once the project started, there wasn't a lot of down time waiting for time to free up in the subcontractor schedules. When we ran into unforeseen issues (e.g., existing plumbing and duct work in the walls/floors that required some working around), John and the team were creative in their problem solving. John's knowledge of ADA specs helped immensely too...at every step he was thoughtful about the overall design, always keeping in mind our and our daughter's needs. The bathroom we renovated sits between two bedrooms. In expanding the bathroom, we needed to take some space out of the bedrooms. We spent a lot of time evaluating the different ways of doing this, and in the end we maintained the functionality of both of the bedrooms...one is now my daughter's room, the other is a home office/guest bedroom. It's not an exaggeration to say the renovated bath has been life-changing. We can now care for our daughter in a way that results in less stress on our bodies (no more lifting her in and out of a tub, more room to maneuver her bath and toilet chairs), and it gives us great comfort to know she can grow into this bath in the years to come. THE most amazing experience with Glickman handling a very emotional renovation of my elderly dad moving into our basement and Glickman knocked it out of the park with knowledge, kindness, patience and expertise. They turned a walkout basement two rooms and bath into what we affectionately refer to as our *Grandy Suite.* Justin was our project manager and I can't say enough great things about him and how ethical this company was from start to finish. They guided me about what kinds of support my dad would need from pull bars to advice on the shower finishes. They were so kind and so great, I hated having the job end and even threw some additional work to them because they were so trustworthy and good at what they do. Can't say enough great things about the whole experience!

Glickman Design did a whole basement remodel. The company was very professional and provided outstanding customer service throughout the whole reno. They walked us through the process and were able to accommodate all of our requests. The work was of high quality and was done in a timely manner. We hired Glickman to do a third floor addition for us. We couldn't have been happier with the outcome of the project. I just knew as soon as I met you and Wayne on that snowy January Day in 2015 that Glickman Design Build would be the perfect contractor/architect to combine my two apartments and design a home that would be handicapped accessible for my mother and me as we moved back into the D.C. area. My mother suffered a massive stroke in 1991 and as a result was a double amputee and paralyzed on one side. She could only use one limb. For the past five years, we'd been living in my apartment in NY which was difficult as there was no accessibility for her. Unfortunately, my mother died in August but next week I am about to move into a beautiful apartment made possible by Glickman. We started construction a little over a year ago combining a one-bedroom + den and a studio apartment. I was so excited when I heard Wayne would be the project manager. Wayne figured out how to make a small room for a caretaker in case one had to stay over and how to create closets out of what you would think would be dead space. I was very concerned about the bathroom, which is simply gorgeous. It has a roll-in shower and an automatic faucet. There would have been plenty of room for a wheelchair, which while I no longer need it now, it is important because I might need it someday. Wayne was able to ingeniously combine the two kitchens into a unique arrangement. As someone who keeps kosher, I was very concerned about having enough counter and cabinet space since I am a major cook and baker. The amount of cabinets and counter surfaces Wayne was able to create was most impressive. I had asked for a mixer base cabinet on which I could secure my kitchen aid, Cuisinarts and toaster oven that would be on levers and I could raise level to the counter. I want to keep my counters as clear as possible and putting appliances in a garage would mean I would have to drag them out, and it was not a prospect I liked. Wayne created individual garages with tracks so my appliances will go on a track and they will just slide out when I want to use them. Voila!

Glickman Design Build Review We used Glickman Design/Build to build a 900 sq. ft. addition and remodeled two existing rooms to build a master bedroom/bathroom, renovated a family room/bathroom, and added two attached bedrooms for our returned child with family. The design/build process worked very well. Glickman took our ideas and created a lovely and very functional addition that fit the look and flow of our existing home, both inside and outside. Glickman worked with us to incorporate our needs and desires and to keep costs down. Glickman developed a workable budget and they stayed within it, except for the few times we chose to make upgrades. The finished product is wonderful, far better than we had ever imagined. The Glickman process was very professional, moving quickly through all the phases of design and build. The project manager Justin was amazing. He kept the contractors moving smoothly through the project. He was there nearly every day keeping us informed about what was occurring and what would be done during the week. The project remained on schedule throughout the process. Justin had an outstanding eye for detail and insisted that the work by the subcontractors meet his high standards or the work was redone until both Justin and we were satisfied. Part of our family continued to live in the home during the renovation. The impact to them was kept to a minimum. The workers were always very professional and courteous; their arrival and departure times were minimized the impact to early mornings and dinnertime. While not inexpensive, the finished product is worth every penny. We would highly recommend Glickman Design/Build to anyone interested in building an addition or undertaking a significant remodeling project. We would not hesitate to use them again if we had a project and would give them our highest recommendation.

Glickman DesignBuild did a major renovation for us. We added a great room redoing our kitchen and bumping out the house. We also added a screen porch. The initial process was very stressful - deciding on what we wanted versus what we could afford. Keith Long our designer was great although he is no longer with the company. The actual build part was managed by Justin Wigfield who is unbelievable. He was as responsive, reliable, accommodating and overall wonderful as was possible. He dealt with any issues immediately and went above and beyond in so many ways - he built a doggie deck for our doggie door because it was too far above the ground. The subs were uniformly terrific. They all were incredibly hard workers - showing up early and working late. They moved the project along quickly but were attentive to detail. We are incredibly happy with the final product. We have an amazing addition.

We chose Glickman to build an accessible addition (bedroom, bathroom, and kitchenette), as well as reconfigure portions of our kitchen, laundry, and powder room. They did a fantastic job of incorporating the things we wanted, as well as suggesting things we didn't think of at first, but now love (a large, covered deck). We had an outstanding project manager (Justin). He had an incredible eye for detail, and was so friendly and respectful of our time that the construction process flew right by without a hitch. Also noteworthy: Glickman uses quality subs, which also contributed to the beautiful finished product.
