After interviewing several builders, we selected Gordon James for our new build in Minnesota. For us, they were just right - not to big and not too small. We worked primarily with Grant and Jeremy on the project; who both showed a strong work ethic, a high level of integrity, and great attention to detail throughout the process. Even though we lived out of state during the construction phase of the project, the communication with the team was always responsive and timely. We were especially pleased with the effective and professional partnership that Grant forged with the designer that we selected for the project. We couldn't be happier with the end result!

We selected Gordon James to build out new home after seeing one of their homes in the Artisan tour. We were impressed with their team and approach to working with the architect and designer (one team). Our project manager, Jeremy was terrific to work with. Jeremy had a client first approach and worked very collaboratively with us every step of the way. Jeremy was also knowledgeable about all the aspects of home construction and served as a great resource throughout.. Our house turned out beautiful-- was completed on time and on budget. Working with the team at Gordon James was a pleasure from the first day we met. The team demonstrates integrity, extreme attention to detail and a willingness to create your home the way you envision it. I designed my home with graph paper and a pencil and they brought it to life. They have flexible options for design support depending on what your personal working style is. They continue service after the one-year mark if needed. Most importantly, they respect the financial investment you are making and are transparent about costs. My project was finished on time and on budget. They organize their subcontract labor so that once you break ground, there are no work stoppages until the project is completed. I believe this is rare in the industry.

We had the pleasure to work with John Quinlivin, Will Haack and Jeremy Thompson of Gordon James Construction on the build of our new construction project in Wayzata, MN and the fact of the matter is we would do it all over again the same exact way with the same exact team. We were blown away by Gordon James and our expectations were surpassed. This was our first new home build and it may well be our last because we love the end product so much. The project went very smoothly. We enjoyed working with Gordon James throughout the project from finding a lot, to designing the house, to picking materials, and through construction. Gordon James was fun to work with, they are immensely talented, they are extremely thorough, they are practical, they are honest and at the end of the day they were on our team and advocated for us. We couldn't have asked for a better team to go through this project with. They were always willing to listen and after listening they would give their feedback based on their experience or if they didn't know something they would thoroughly and honestly research the area and then give feedback. They are truly great home builders. Very responsive and very patient. The best part about the project is they finished the house a month ahead of schedule and the price was exactly what they told us it would be. One quote that I will recall from the process is our project manager Jeremy would tell us if something was not correct to us or we were not satisfied then it simply wasn't correct regardless and they would have it fixed so we were satisfied. That is the bottom line with Gordon James. The job is not done until the client is satisfied. What a concept!! Finally the temperament of all of the people at Gordon James is wonderful. They have been there and done that and their experience really shows when things get difficult. New house construction can be stressful especially given the money and time invested. When issues arose during our project Gordon James always came to the table with quality solutions and they did so in a very even way. They are true professionals. Without hesitation we would recommend using Gordon James on any size project and for sure we would use them again if we had a need.

We purchased a house built in 1960 from the original owner that needed a complete overhaul. Gordon James helped to remodel the entire house, which included adding air conditioning and knocking down walls and an brand new addition. The Project Supervisor was in contact contact with us and we always knew what was happening. They completed a complete remodel in 3 months. The weather certainly helped, it was a mild Minnesota winter, but the work was done well, high quality work completed in 3 months. We used out own designer for our kitchen and bathrooms and they were very open to and worked well with our chosen designer and the brand of cabinetry we choose. We would highly recommend Gordon James.

Gordon James built the custom home that I designed, with the proper professional support and guidance from their experienced staff and vendors. They were extremely budget conscious and crated a beautiful home that our family truly enjoys. The Gordon James sales team and project management team expended an incredible amount of energy to ensure that I was happy with every detail. The project took longer to plan than expected, primarily due to the high demand in the area for architectural and sub contractor services; however once construction started there was meaningful progress every day and the build phase remained on track no matter what changes I made throughout the process. Gordon James manages its subcontractors very efficiently and advocates for customers to ensure that the workmanship is top quality.

Our experience with Gordon James Construction was fantastic. We were first-time home builders, and the team at Gordon James made the entire process not only easy and enjoyable but also exciting and not at all stressful. They listened to our needs and wants when designing and building our new home, and put careful care and consideration into each step to make sure we were completely satisfied with the outcome.
