My husband and I procrastinated on a kitchen/bath renovation for ten years because we couldn't agree on what we wanted, how to start and dreaded the thought of managing contractors. After finally deciding a design/build company was best for us, we went with Gordon Reese Design Build. The design phase of the project has just been completed and it has been so easy for us. Our designer, Johanne, shopped with us for stones, lighting, tiles, shower fixtures, sink, etc. She was knowledgeable about design and materials and guided us from making mistakes in our choices and offered design suggestions that I hadn't even considered but liked. She was patient with us changing our minds and making design changes. The communication with GRDB using their online tool CoConstruct was efficient and important as changes and questions were logged, acknowledged and read by everyone involved in our project. This lessened the chances of miscommunication which can happen when details are only verbally communicated. I could go back and see every message sent between us and GRDB regarding the project. During the design phase, we had meetings in our home with Gordon and trades people like the cabinet maker, tile guy, plumber, electrician, project lead and project manager. Everyone could see what they needed to do, took measurements and answered all our questions. I was very satisfied with GRDB and the design phase of our project. I'm confident the construction phase of our project will proceed just as well too.

Our kitchen renovation completed by GRDB turned out better than we could have imagined. We loved the design process and appreciate the suggestions made to us for colors and design aspects that we had never even heard of. The entire team was a pleasure to work with, and the communication was excellent with quick responses to our questions. Clean up was done quickly and the entire project was managed professionally and went more smoothly than we expected. We feel like our new kitchen transforms the entire ambiance of our home. We worked with GRDB on a home remodel which included a great room addition, kitchen remodel, and updating other areas of our house. Gordon and his team were very professional and responsive throughout our entire project and made themselves available whenever a discussion was needed. He uses an online tool CoConstruct to keep us informed of progress, budgeting and general communication throughout the project. Gordon Reese Design Build was fantastic to work with on our large project! We remodeled our entire kitchen, raised the ceiling, converted part of our garage into a laundry and office, redid our entire master bathroom, and replaced all the flooring. Throughout the process, the GRDB team was professional, communicated clearly, addressed our concerns and worked with us to resolve project challenges. The project was made more challenging by the COVID-19 pandemic's affects on logistics and scheduling, but GRDB minimized disruptions. We interviewed 3 other companies for this project. While GRDB was the only one to charge us for the initial consultation, the GRDB analysis was the most thorough and accurate. Gordon covered the small details that were important to us that other companies forgot about. We wish we had learned how to escalate an emergency with the GRDB team earlier in the project. Our air conditioning was accidentally disabled over a hot weekend while we were still living on the property throughout the construction. They were prompt and apologetic on Monday after we talked to our construction lead. It was also important to for us to be persistent with project issues, we weren't satisfied with how our shower was completed and we ended up escalating to the GRDB construction lead where our issue was resolved. Given the complexity of the project, we were very happy to have worked with GRDB. We would definitely work with GRDB again for another large home project!

The scope of our project was to keep the same footprint in the kitchen and family room but replace the cabinetry, countertops, backsplash and fireplace surround. The design process was superb! Invaluable input and selection process made painless by the guidance from the designer. GRDB uses exceptionally skilled trades people such as the cabinet-maker - our cabinets look like fine furniture. The refinished hardwood floors are stunning. Prompt attention was given to fine tune touch up requests. The job was not considered completed until we were completely satisfied. In this day of Covid, care was taken to remain compliant from beginning to end of our project. We felt secure living in our home while work was being done.

We worked with Gordon and his team for a complete remodel of our late 1960's kitchen, and we could not be more thrilled with the process or results. It was a true pleasure working with them! Gordon really listened to us from the very beginning so we were able to work within our budget. His scope of work was so well-defined that there were really no surprises along the way; any surprises we had were related to us being in an older house with work done by the prior owners, and his team was able to remedy those issues in a timely and efficient manner. The designer on our team was amazing - from the 3D renderings to the flawless paint color selection to the suggestion of particular design features that we now absolutely love - the importance of having a skilled designer on your team for your kitchen remodel cannot be understated. The project management and construction staff are also really unmatched in terms of professionalism. A kitchen remodel can be very disruptive, but with Gordon's team we always knew exactly what was going to be happening when (thanks to the Gantt charts his team prepared and the near daily communication with the Project Managers). Gordon's team is by-the-books and doesn't cut corners. We've seen other remodeled kitchens in homes nearby, and you can really tell the higher quality workmanship of Gordon's team. We've now lived with our new kitchen for two years, and there's no doubt in our minds that Gordon and his team were the right choice!

We were very satisfied with the way our project was done from the initial concept meetings through to the completion, even tho the scope was significantly reduced as the work unfolded. This was a smaller project that followed a major bathroom renovation in 2013, which we were also very satisfied with.

Our goal was to redesign the kitchen to include as many cabinets as possible and provide a lot of storage space, by only adding 80 feet under an existing roof line. The design process accomplished our goals. We had a tight budget, so we had to work together to come up with ideas to keep the cost down. When glitches came up throughout the process, the contractor was quick to respond to us and to fix the item.

Gordon Reese Construction provided the design and construction of a raised 450 square foot patio with a trellised roof. The design was unique and we love it. The construction was thorough, easy and very professionally done. Further they stand by their work and product and have fixed any and all issues we encountered. This group is knowledgeable, skilled, professional and honest. Not every contractor could pass those criteria with the high grades Gordon Reese Construction earns.

After becoming empty-nesters, we decided to to do a remodel of our kitchen, but knew that we needed some direction as it seemed too overwhelming to design it on our own. Enter Gordon Reese and his fantastic team. Jeff Rexford was our designer and he came up with a vision that we never would have seen. We took out an entire wall with fireplace and a closet so as to open the dining room to the kitchen and make it a great room. What really was the icing on the cake was Jeff suggesting we vault the kitchen ceiling to really give an open feel to the room. Wow, did it turn out incredible. Actually surpassed what we had envisioned. Gordon brought to our job a team of dry-wallers, plumber, electricians, and painters that did an absolutely professional job with minimal dirt (they cleaned and swept every day), and did it all on budget and by the finish date that was promised. When we began the project there were many people that we spoke with that shared absolute horror stories of their experiences with having remodel work done, but I can honestly say that yes it is an inconvenience and a disruption of your life, but Gordon actually made it an enjoyable experience through his excellent communication and problem solving skills. We recommend that you include Gordon on your list of contractors to talk to, we are certainly glad that we did.

Gordon and his company performed a minor miracle. They took an outdated 150 square foot Kitchen and turned it into a 1000 square foot Great Room. From the initial concepts to the final appliances, they were professional, punctual, and an absolute pleasure. Highly recommend them!!!

I hired this company to refurbish my bathroom with marble counter-tops and marble tile in the bath surround. They have excellent online communication through their website, which makes the process clear. There were no price surprises. Their personnel are friendly and professional. they clean up after themselves, for the most part. Construction problems that arose were well handled in a timely fashion.

Design Consultation for a Kitchen Remodel project. Gordon Reese was wonderful! He arrived at my home on time, looked at the project, took many notes, listened to my ideas and spent an hour and a half discussing the pros, cons and City requirements for my project. I want to install a second window in my kitchen and Gordon talked with me about the number of cabinets to be removed, and the benefits of the installation. One week later, I met with Gordon again to go over costs for the project. He gave me a complete estimate - I was very satisfied with the numbers, and know that the remodel will be fantastic! I plan to have the kitchen completed in time for Thanksgiving dinner!

After much homework and research, we hired Gordon Reese Construction to do a somewhat major renovation to our house. The work involved a complete kitchen remodel, including the conversion of a drop ceiling to a vaulted ceiling, reconfiguration of the cabinet and appliance layout, installation of new cabinets and granite countertops, and hardwood flooring. We also had Gordon remodel our family room including building a new, modern fireplace. The hardwood floors he installed in the kitchen was carried downstairs into the family room. The project began Labor Day of 2012 and was completed by Christmas, which is an indication of the scope of the work. Gordon spent a great deal of time with us planning the work, which contributed to a very successful outcome. Gordon's staff was skilled and professional in every respect. The work was completed on time and on schedule even when we had occassional change orders. The workers thoroughly cleaned up at the end of each day, which we appreciated. My wife and I were given regular progress reports and updates. We did a lot of research before we decided on Gordon Reese Construction. Gordon was not the least expensive contractor, but his initial estimate proved to be very accurate. In short, we would strongly recommend Gordon Reese Construction based on our experience. Gordon Reese construction did two remodeling jobs for me in 2012. The first was a $30K remodel of two interior bathrooms and a laundry room. The second involved the replacement of all the interior doors at approximately $10K plus some exterior structural repairs at approximately $5K. Gordon did a thorough estimate of the scope of each project, so there were very few surprises. His workers were highly skilled. They arrived when they said they would, and they finished the job in a timely manner. Gordon stood behind his work and did not ask for final payment until we were completely satisfied. I would highly recommend him.

We hired Gordon Reese construction for our Kitchen remodel after a lengthy interview process with a number of construction companies. We were impressed with Gordon and his team, their understanding of what we wanted to do as well as clearly outlining the scope of the work based on our budget. We worked with Gordon over a few weeks finalizing the scope of work and contracts and he was very responsive to my many calls, questions and clarifications. We set a start date for the project and on that date he and the project manager arrived with the crew to do a walkthrough of the project and contract to make sure we were all on the same page as we started the remodel. Over the course of the project I met often with our project manager and our lead remodeling professional to check on status, issues and solutions as we progressed with the remodel. Gordon and his team have great relationships with a number of suppliers in the local area that are Green in their building processes and my favorite was our Cabinet company (Precision Cabinet and Trim of Brentwood). Gordon was able to arrange a personal visit and tour of the cabinet companies factory and for me to meet with their local rep to review our final cabinet choices, color and options. It was a great experience and one that made the cabinet selection a breeze for this remodel. I can say that Bruce arrived to work every day on time and worked hard to meet the project deadline. He always left the workspace neat and went out of his way to be sure we had everything we needed during the project. The kitchen came out beautiful, the workmanship by our lead remodeling professional was incredible. All of our family and friends love the final result and we could not be happier. On side note, during the construction we found a “surprise” that needed to be addressed that was not related to the kitchen remodel and working with our lead remodeling professional, our project manager and Gordon we were able to address this critical fix with ease as they were able to add the scope to our project and have the lead remodeling professional address it while also working on the kitchen. That little side trip was unexpected but working with our lead remodeling professional along with a number of other folks from the Gordon Reese construction team, we were able to address the fix and not impact the overall project timeline. I highly recommend Gordon and his team for any remodel or construction project! MH Danville CA
