Hofmann Design Build, Inc.

We couldn’t be happier with the work Gary and his team did on our home. They took our vision and truly brought it to life with exceptional craftsmanship and attention to detail. His construction crew was professional, respectful, and a pleasure to have in our home from start to finish. The entire process was seamless, and the results are beautiful. I highly recommend Hoffman Design and Build, and will refer him at every opportunity.

Outstanding design - great company - could not be happier with the design and the execution of the project. Highly recommend the architect Dana as well - they are extremely responsive. Workers respectful for the time and very communicative.

We've worked with Ernie and his team on multiple projects and each experience was excellent. Their concept from design through build helped prioritize our goals and allowed us to create a budget upfront tied to each phase of the project. Whether working with their budgeting person, architect or our direct project manager, everyone was responsive profession and exceptional at what they do. We can't recommend Hoffman enough and we've already referred many friends over the last few years.

I recently had the pleasure of working with Hofmann Design Build for a construction project on my home, and I cannot express how thrilled my family and I are with the entire process and the remarkable results. From start to finish, Hofmann Design Build exceeded our expectations in every aspect. The hallmark of any great construction project lies in the attention to detail and the unwavering commitment to quality, and Hofmann Design Build delivered on both fronts with unparalleled excellence. What truly sets them apart is their dedication to the often-overlooked final 2% that elevates a project to perfection. One of the standout features of our experience was our exceptional project manager, Bill. From the moment we embarked on this journey, they guided us with precision, expertise, and unwavering support. They ensured that every step of the project was executed seamlessly, from the initial planning and design stages to the final touches. Their communication was impeccable, and they made sure that we were always informed and involved in the decision-making process. Every person who set foot in our home during this project was not only respectful but also demonstrated an abundance of talent. It's not often that you encounter a team of professionals who not only excel in their craft but also treat your home with the same care and respect as if it were their own. What initially drew us to Hofmann Design Build was their in-house resources, which proved to be a game-changer for our project. They had a team of experts, including an architect, engineer, and kitchen designer, who were instrumental in bringing our vision to life. This integrated approach gave us peace of mind and made the entire process seamless. The end result of our project has left us in awe. When friends and family walk through our home, they are left speechless. The attention to detail, the quality of craftsmanship, and the overall design are beyond anything we could have ever imagined. Our home is now a dream come true, and we are so grateful that Hofmann Design Build made this a reality. My family and I wholeheartedly recommend Hofmann Design Build to anyone seeking a construction partner. Their commitment to excellence, attention to detail, in-house expertise, and exceptional project management make them a standout choice. They have certainly earned our gratitude and admiration.

We chose Hofmann Design Build for a major project in our home and were not disappointed. They weren't the cheapest, but - as they say - you get what you pay for. The planning process was superb. Everything was agreed before construction started. This prevented delays and accurately budgeted costs. No surprises. Ernie's experience and reputation smoothed the way through some tricky zoning issues. Once construction started, Steve L took over and managed the project superbly. We could always reach him. The teams minimized disruption. In sum, we were VERY satisfied. So satisfied that we hired Hofmann's bathroom crew to come back a year later to update one of our bathrooms. That was also a completely satisfactory experience.

We did a gut renovation with Hofmann Design Build and had a great experience. His team was professional, responsive and did high quality work. They never cut corners and included us in all the choices, guiding us the whole way. Their prices were fair and comprable to other builders in the area. They were also very helpful in our kitchen design. I would use them again and highly recommend them.

We have worked with Ernie Hoffman and his staff on a couple of projects that have energized our home, which was originally built in the 1920s. One involved creating a new front door and entrance in what was once a small office/window. We have a Tudor-style home and the new front entrance involved a beautifully carved stone surround and stone steps that curve gracefully outward. Inside the front door, the creation of the entrance involved making a doorway into our living room in what was previously a plastered wall, and laying wood floors that matched the rest of the wood floors in our main level. The architect and craftsmen who worked on this job really outdid themselves sourcing beautiful materials and ensuring that colors and moldings were carefully matched. The entire project fits our home so perfectly that it really looks and feels like it always should have been there. The other project involved updating the master ensuite. This job involved literally stripping our existing bathroom and building it up from scratch. Incredible attention to detail from both the architect and the tradespeople resulted in a beautiful and updated gem that fits the style of our home, but that improved the look and function of the ensuite dramatically. This job was done before the entrance project and the ease of working with Ernie and his team, and the care that the team took to complete the job, made it obvious that Hofmann Design Build should be our first call with any other projects for our home.

Hofmann Design team are as professional and competent as they come. We did a bathroom gut and all went as smoothly as one only hopes for with a renovation. Carla and Mike were great with guidance and communication throughout the project. The end result was exactly what we had hoped for. We would definitely use Hofmann again for any home future home projects.

Ernie and his team are the best in the business. Our home was gut renovated from top to bottom during Covid and looking back, I don't know how we were able to pull off what we did but I'm sure we couldn't have done it without Hofmann Design Build. Ernie is one of the most professional and patient people I've met. He listened to our needs and worked with us throughout the course of the project. Most times you find that people who sell the project, disappear after work starts. Not so with Ernie. Steve, our project manager, was equally amazing. He and his crew worked relentlessly to finish the project despite multiple subcontractor and material shortages. The quality of their work speaks for itself as whoever comes to our home remarks on how beautifully everything turned out. I cannot recommend these folks highly enough!

It began with an idea: wouldn’t it be great if THAT window were our front door? So much more convenient and easier to get to and from our driveway. We mulled that idea over for years and then we brought it to HDB because they had successfully renovated our master bathroom about a year before. We worked with one of their architects to plan and select every detail involved in the project before the amazing building team even set foot in our home. That little idea led to a collaborative project that resulted in HDB building the graceful, architecturally integrated but updated front entrance we are enjoying today. It has completely transformed the flow of our main floor and brought lots more light into our living room. Bill and the building team expertly managed the process to reduce discomfort, down-time and even reducing stress on our pet. In the process, we updated the heating and refinished all the wood floors...all completed on time. So grateful for Ernie, Carla, Dana, Bill and the rest of the team, and Lynda.

Ernie and his team worked on our Queen Ann turn of the century home in Madison NJ They were extremely focused on matching the hand crafted railings and moldings and extended our porch to the new mudroom. High quality, reasonably priced and attention to detail. I would add that I have shown quotes on a vacation home to Ernie and team and they saved me thousands in NOT overpaying, letting me know when estimates were out of the ballpark. Definitely include Hoffman design and build in your search for a great contractor. Gerard and Phyllis Watson

We were very pleased and impressed with the entire Hofmann team. Our sunroom and family room came out beautiful. Dana, our architect listened to our vision and how we planned to use the space. She even came over with the plans so we could use blue tape and envision the plans in the room. This ensured there were no surprises and brought the plans to life for us. As a result the design met all our needs and wishes. Bill, our project manager and his team are true professionals and craftsman. Plus everyone was super nice. No detail was overlooked. Bill was in constant communication, let me know the schedule and was very diligent in making sure we were happy and the project was moving smoothly. They were a pleasure to deal with and because of our experience with Bill and the team, Hofmann will be our go to for any home improvements.

We worked with this group in 2015 to redo our whole home. They were very professional and came in on time & within budget. The architect, design teams & site managers were all easy to work with. Our home went from a typical cape cod to an open floor plan modern home with Craftsman touches. We liked it so much that we wanted to use them for a second home renovation.

HDB completed our whole first floor renovation and then a full bath Reno a year later. The entire experience was stress free and their team was so professional, organized, and they finished exactly when they said they would. I wouldn’t use any other company, our project manager Bill was truly the best!

My project consisted of a complete kitchen renovation, a breakfast room addition and an office/study. The craftsman ship is top notch and the cabinetry beautiful. We made some changes after construction began thanks to some thoughtful discussions with the GC. Thanks Hofman!

Had a great experience with the Hofmann Design team for my bathroom renovation. Wonderful job by the whole team, from the design to construction and finishing, the group was professional, respectful, and incredibly talented. High quality job with a beautiful result!

We just completed our bathroom and couldn’t have had a better experience. Carla our designer is awesome. She heard our thoughts and came up with a design and choices for tile and fixtures that nailed it. We were done with choosing everything and finalizing our choices in two hours. We couldn’t believe it. She was on the same page from the beginning, offered her informed opinions, kept functionality as well as integration with the rest of the house in mind. Our design is unique and we love it. Mike was our project manager. He showed up every morning!!! I knew what to expect everyday. At the end of the day he went over what they did. If there were any issues he pointed them out to me and told me how they would be resolved. At the end there was zero punch list !!! We were in shock to be so pleased and that it was all done so perfect the first time. Bill is an excellent carpenter. Mike and Bill communicated flawlessly. They were done by three every day. I was able to pick up the kids from school and there was no mess to clean up. The door to bathroom was closed and it was like they weren’t there. In addition, the electricians and the plumber was also very professional and everyone was child friendly. We had a great experience and are already designing our master bath. I highly recommend them.

After interviewing several contractors, we decided to have Hofmann Design Build renovate our kitchen/dining room. From the beginning to the end the entire experience was entirely amazing. We began with an extensive design interview with Jacque to assess our "wish list" and lifestyle. She then presented us with several design plans and made our choice. She and Alaine guided us in choosing everything from appliances to cabinets, flooring, countertops, tile and plumbing fixtures. They were timely and responsive. When everything was chosen and our final plans confirmed, we were introduced to our project manager Steve. I was already so pleased with our experience, however Steve and his crew was icing on the cake. He was always available by phone or text for questions. Steve was at the house nearly every day to make sure the job was running smoothly. When we made some changes or additions, Steve, Jacque and Alaine were accommodating and flexible. Our kitchen/dining renovation is spectacular in every way, thanks to the entire staff at Hofmann. We are planning on another project in the near future and there is only one design crew for us, Hofmann Design Build is the very best!!!!

Hofmann Design Build has done various small projects for us. Always on time, and at a reasonable price, especially considering the high quality of the work. The job-site was always kept tidy with minimal impact on our home. High recommended!

We completely renovated a partially finished basement, adding a rec room, wet bar, full bath, and bedroom. We also renovated an upstairs bathroom at the same time. Ernie and his team developed an exceptional design that utilized the space very effectively. The team is professional, responsive and customer-centric. Ernie remained involved and available throughout the project to address issues or concerns as they arose. Carla was a pleasure to work with as we selected all of the finishes. She listened to us and made excellent suggestions. Plans and budget were executed with great attention to detail.

Hofman Design Build transformed our unfinished basement into a beautiful and functional living space, which includes a laundry room and full bathroom. The project also included renovating a second floor bathroom and cosmetic work around the house. The quality of work was excellent and his team was very client oriented. It's been a full year since work was finished and we are very satisfied with the project.

We renovated 2 homes with Ernie. Both projects came out just as we imagined them with excellent quality, great subs and staff, timeliness, and with our budget in mind. I would recommend Hofmann Design Build too anyone looking for a quality build.

A truly top notch company! I hired Hofmann Design Build for a kitchen addition and house renovation. They were nothing but true professionals. Ernie and his staff came up with great design ideas, followed a detailed timeline and their work was first rate quality. It's been almost 10 years since my project was completed and I would use them again in a heartbeat, They were reliable and their attention to detail was second to none.

Excellent attention to detail, company addresses requests promptly and courteously. Excellent craftsmanship. The customer is involved in every step of the process and you are treated as if you are the only customer of the company! Would recommend to others looking to transform their homes!

Solicited bid on significant addition to existing home. Project changed to a "teardown" and we went with different builder. We liked quality of Hofmann Design & Build's work but went with a builder with more experience in new homes and also in hiring someone (architect) not associated with builder to design the house plans. I am not a big fan of the all-in-one design & build concept for new homes or significant additions because having a separate architect and builder helps provide balanced advice during the build process.

Everyone concerned with the project was top notch! The planning and execution of our work, including complete redo of our sun room, opening up a wall for better flow, floor refinishing and painting was of the highest quality. When there was a slight issue, it was resolved quickly and completely. All our friends commented most highly on the work.

Ethical. Professional. Detail-oriented. Creative. Expert. Timely. Respectful. They have done several major projects for our family and they were the best builders we have ever had.

I worked with Hofmann Design on two home renovation projects, and both went smoothly from design to building completion. The entire staff was a pleasure to deal with, and the company is organized in such a way to keep projects on time and on budget. These were the key reasons as to why I returned to Hofmann a second time, as well as referred them to several area friends also looking to do home redesigns with a quality team of professionals.

Great company who did ALL they promised- ALL within the time parameters provided and we are absolutely thrilled with the end result. Thanks again for all

Hoffman Design Build did an extraordinary job creating a new master wing and renovating multiple living spaces in my home. They redesigned and built bathrooms, mouldings and trim, finished the basement, etc. No attention to detail was spared. Their team was knowledgeable, trustworthy, super efficient, thorough and respectful of my home. All work spaces were left clean and neat and I never had to repeat any project requests or chase them down. They are always available after the job is done if you have any questions. Very professional and worth every penny. I cannot say enough good things about them.

From beginning to end, the process with Hofmann was professional and pleasant. They finished a previously unfinished room in the basement, completely reconfigured and customized our mudroom, redid our half bath. We are pleased with the work they did and it has held up with much use over the last few years. We'd recommend them and would hire them again.

We have a long standing relationship with Hofmann Design Build, and our experience could not be better. Over the years we have supplied the tile for many of their design-build projects, both small and large. On each occasion Ernie and his entire team, from the designers (Carla, Alaine, etc.) to the project managers, are not only extremely professional, and knowledgeable, but very organized and timely. Their work is exceptional, and all are so helpful; a pleasure to work with. We look forward to working with Hofmann Design Build anytime the opportunity arises, and highly recommend them to anyone looking to do work on their home.
