We recently completed a major renovation project on our 1920s bungalow that included a complete gut of the kitchen and dining room, a refurbishment of garage exterior, and several additional projects ranging from fireplace refacing to exterior painting. The project required coordination of every major trade and sub-contractor, all of whom were seamlessly managed by our on-site project manager. We were kept informed of timelines and status at all times and, whenever possible, our project managers took on problems and repairs themselves. We felt very fortunate to have such a talented and conscientious team -- especially since we remained in the house throughout the 6-month project. A project can only be as good as the design itself; working with Sheila was an absolute pleasure. She is a gifted designer who puts tremendous thought and care into her recommendations. Her expertise ensured we made solid decisions that we will be happy with for years to come. This is our second major project with Homework Remodels. We have one more left and look forward to getting started soon.

After many years of consideration we finally decided to remodel our home—kitchen, bathrooms, laundry room and new flooring throughout. We are second time customers of Homework Remodels. They restored/remodeled our 1946 home when we purchased it 10 years ago. It was much in need of repair, and we were very satisfied with the results. So, when we decided to do a complete remodel of our bathroom, which had not been remodeled initially, there was no question about who we wanted to do this project. We were not disappointed with the choice. We had very specific styling in mind, bringing up-to-date the original fixtures and colors. Homework Remodels was very helpful in this process; informing us about new fixtures and helping with the physical design and costs. We worked together to get the bathroom we wanted within the budget we had allowed. This included the use of custom pink tile supplied from Clayhaus and more conventional gray floor and shower tile, and gray fixtures. This mixture of tile and difficult shapes required some extra artistry on the part of the tile installers. New brass and black lighting was installed. Since this was a complete "remove and replace" process, a lot of work was performed while we were at home. Homework Remodels constructed a temporary "tunnel" from the front door to the bathroom which isolated the project as much as possible. This was especially important during the height of the Covid-19 pandemic. This resulted in as "low impact" a project in small occupied house, as one could imagine! Overall we were very happy with the process of the construction and with the final results. We love it and recommend Homework Remodels highly.

Steve and the Homework Remodels Team did a great job on my fairly considerable room addition project. The goal was to expand an existing, view-facing deck on the back of my home... while also adding a whole new room to the downstairs part of the home by utilizing the newly created space underneath the deck expansion. I had prepared my 'back of the napkin' drawings in some detail and Steve, Sheila and team were able to stick closely to my design concepts throughout the project, while professionally upgrading the drawings for all of the necessary planning and approval steps that were required along the way. Steve also accompanied me to the City Planning Hearing in order to get city approval to expand beyond the allowable 'footprint' of my home for the project to move forward... and it all came off without a hitch. Nine months later and we are enjoying the views of Lookout Mountain from our outdoor kitchen atop our newly-expanded (and now partially covered & misted) deck. The "new" side matches the pre-existing side perfectly, and the deck flooring upgrade has been absolutely fantastic. We've added several hundred square feet of VERY usable outdoor space just off of our kitchen and living areas, and we couldn't be happier with the results. The downstairs room addition is equally as fantastic, and even the few issues that needed follow-up were handled as courteously as one might hope for. Steve & Company are total pros, and good people as well. Highly recommended.

Even with that distraction, everyone was professional, careful and respectful of the situation. All the trades did beautiful work and our project manager Ross couldn't have been more helpful and professional. The project was done on time and on budget. I just contacted Steve last week for another project, and they came out the same day to assess the project and start the ball rolling.

He figured out a way to help us out and Sheila came up with some terrific ideas that we will be incorporating into our future plans. Very professional. Job completed on time. Excellent quality. Friendly, knowledgeable staff. Very helpful in shopping for appliances and hardware (new handles, knobs, etc.) and great advice on color coordination of materials. Second time (and second home) where we used Tri-Lite. We hired Homework to help put a few finishing touches on our Willo District home. The master bath lacked a water closet door, and Homework was able to design a custom tile framed door that fits exceptionally well with the existing historic structure. Homework also restored a cove ceiling and re-textured our den with plaster matching existing from 90 years ago. Could not have been more pleased.

We are very pleased with the process and work that Steve and his team at Homework Remodels did for us. His entire staff and all of his trades people were very professional. From the beginning of the process it was clear that Steve and his team were interested in quality work and attention to detail. Our project was perhaps a little unusual for Steve because it did not include kitchen or bathroom remodeling, but structural remodeling to remove several interior bearing wall to open up the central interior of our home. The work was well sequenced and potential problems were anticipated and dealt with. The work was completed within the anticipated time frame.

Have used Tri-Lite twice since 1998. First time did whole house make-over excluding the kitchen. Had them back four years later to remodel the kitchen. Great results both times. They did it on-time, in the budget and no issues----ever! These folks treat your home like it is their home!

I had the pleasure of working closely with Homework Remodels as they remodeled the kitchen of our 1938 bungalow located in a historic neighborhood in Phoenix, Arizona. The crew paid attention to every detail of the design which focused on keeping the historical charm of the home with a few modern day touches. Another aspect of their workmanship was the daily cleanup at the end of each working day which always makes a remodel more tolerable. In the end the project was completed as promised and at budget but most appreciated of all are the 'WOW' comments from friends and family.

Recently, we had our master bathroom torn down to the studs and totally remodeled by Homework Remodels. We met initially with the owner of the company Steve Shinn and his designer Sheila Lanier. We were so impressed by their presentation, that we did not bother to obtain any additional quotes. Sheila, in addition to being quite personable, is an extremely talented designer and decorator with a great eye for color and composition. We accompanied her on many trips to select tiles, granite, bathroom fixtures, lighting, etc. The subcontractors used by Homework Remodels were all excellent in their craft. The job foremen, Aaron and Lee oversaw our project with the utmost care. During part of the renovation, we had to be out of town but we were comfortable entrusting our home to these men during our absence. During renovations, we also decided to have the company do a partial revision of our main guest bathroom. Although our initial budget was far exceeded, we believe the final product was well worth the cost. We can highly recommend Homework Remodels to anyone seeking quality renovations of their home.

Homework was very thorough and helpful in guiding me through the home renovation process. Their proposal was clear and itemized every detail. Their team is highly professional, and the work they did exceeded my expectations. I got cheaper estimates to do the work, but I think Homework was worth every penny. Tri-Lite Builders...one word describes them....AWESOME...We had a good size remodel project with Steve and his team. Thankfully he assigned Aaron as the general foreman for our project and the project went flawlessly thanks to the efforts of Aaron. The City of Phoenix was our biggest hurdle for plan approval (don't get me started there --- what a JOKE that is), but Steve and team got the project off the ground and 2 months to the day we got final sign off from the city...not one issue along the way...truly because of the attention to detail Aaron had for our project and his attention to detail from the Subs was incredible...anything Aaron saw that was not up to the standards of Tri-Lite, he had the Subs re-do and/or correct...never had to worry about a thing...If you want a CLASS A remodel company, go to Steve and the team at Tri-Lite Builders...I guarantee you CAN'T GO WRONG...thanks again Steve and Aaron...Barbara and Rob

Homework Remodels/Tri Lite Builders recently completed a full kitchen remodel for us. We give them high marks for planning, design, communication and workmanship. We would work with them again on future projects. HR/TB was upfront with us during the planning phase. Our home was built in the 1920's and the previous owners updated the kitchen in the 1980's. We had questions about asbestos, wiring and potential termite damage. HR/TB gave us straightforward answers about these contingencies so that we knew what to expect before the project began. During demolition, we discovered faulty wiring. HR/TB brought it up to code at an additional, reasonable cost. The HR/TB design is the best we've seen for a small kitchen. The kitchen is about 9'x11'. We considered moving walls but quickly realized that it didn't make sense for our home. The designer developed a plan that enabled us to create an excellent work area and add storage within the existing space. It's beautiful and everything we need. There is an additional but reasonable charge for the design service. Workmanship was excellent. The kitchen posed a number of challenges including uneven walls and floors. We also discovered that a header had been cut on a load bearing wall, creating a structural problem. HR/TB communicated with us throughout the project, provided options and sought our input on the solutions. They had the experience and skills needed for the job. HR/TB also helped us select finishes that are consistent with the age of our home but that incorporate the latest technology. We are very pleased with the results.

We had a master shower with old glass blocks that had water damage between the blocks that was an eye sore we could do nothing about. Steve and Shelia were able to give us some great ideas to address the problem and we now have a beautiful perfect shower. I especially appreciate their robust planning process that ensures everything is well thought through, the cost, schedule, and risk were well understood before we got started. Luckily everything went as planned and there were no surprises. Had any of the risk come up, I knew I was in good hands and they could address it quickly. On schedule, on budget and no surprises makes this team a dream to work with.

We recently completed a full tear-out kitchen and master bath replacement with Homework Remodels in our mid-century home (built 1957). It was the second major project on which we engaged Steve Shinn and company. The first was about ten years ago for an addition to our home that added an office/bedroom, laundry room, garage extension, new roof, painting and changes to front and rear patios. Doing such an extensive project that involved all trades gave us the opportunity to really get to know Steve, the quality of work from his team, and the way he runs his business. Needless to say, we were very satisfied and had no hesitation calling Homework Remodels for this latest project. We were very pleased to see that Steve was not only still in business following the recession that clobbered so many local companies, but actually had grown his business over that time. Knowing that Steve takes a long-term approach to managing his business, and having seen his dedication to customer satisfaction, we were not surprised to see that Homework Remodels flourished. We had uncertainties about other contracting firms, so we went with the one we knew and with whom we already had a good experience. We had confidence in Homework Remodels, so it was a pretty easy decision. One of the changes we found, that was of great value to us, is that Steve now had an in-house designer, Sheila, whose experience and expertise was obvious from our first meeting. It made tackling such a large project a much more comfortable experience. Sheila provided a lot of information on materials, fixtures, and design, and told us where to find more on our own. The Homework team provided guidance every step of the way and did a great job. I would recommend them for their quality of work and great customer service.

I contacted Homework Remodels a couple of years ago to give me a quote on a complete kitchen remodel. The owner of the company, Steve Shinn, answered my call and after some brief discussion, he offered to come to my home and look at the space. He was there the next day. We first walked around a bit so that Steve could get a sense of the style of the home. He asked a lot of good questions about what I envisioned in terms of the remodel and he asked about my budget. We agreed that the kitchen needed to be gutted (it was an original 1956 galley kitchen - basically untouched) and that the goal should be to end up with a more open feel and a more contemporary look. I was adamant that I wanted the end-product to be a very functional space, as I am an avid cook and I knew it had to be a top-quality kitchen. Steve had some great ideas in terms of how to accomplish those goals. One of the best things that Homework Remodels did was propose some flush-mounted cabinets. He explained that we would need to build into the wall leading into the laundry room in order to create some depth for the cabinetry. I thought that was a fantastic idea, as it would create additional storage space in my kitchen -- much of which was going away due to opening up the wall between the kitchen and the living room. I readily agreed to this proposal. Homework Remodels also suggested that I use some type of glass on the new flush-mounted cabinets to lighten things up a bit. All of the cabinetry in that room is dark wood (espresso), so I thought the use of ribbed and slightly opaque glass would really look great. Great idea! The project ended up being a bit more involved than originally contemplated. One issue was that, in opening up the wall between the kitchen and the living room, we learned that the footings in my 1956 home were too shallow to pass muster with the City. The footings were required to be deeper and Homework Remodels was able to handle it without a problem. We also needed to widen a door to accommodate the new french-door refrigerator that I had ordered. Steve worked with me in terms of coming up with a reasonable price to widen the door. In the end, I now have a beautiful kitchen. Totally redone and totally functional. My opinion is that Homework Remodels did an excellent job on this project and I would recommend them to others.

They did a wonderful remodel of our bathrooms a few years ago - still in love with the entire design. Great job and wonderful people. Highly recommend, and do often!

I hired Homework Remodels for my kitchen and laundry room remodel after reading many positive reviews and meeting with Steve Shinn. My project manager Rod kept my job moving and on time and maintained great communication throughout the project. I appreciated working with my designer Sheila as well and getting her take on all things design related. In fact all the folks I've interacted with during my remodel have been top notch and the kitchen and laundry turned out great! I highly recommend Homework Remodels.

Steve and Sheila are professional, creative, genuine, friendly, and just awesome. We were so bummed out when we got screwed over by a different company over the remodeling of our master bathroom. This happened only a week before we were leaving for Europe -- to stay for several months. Steve and Sheila came to the rescue and together we worked out nice solutions. They remodeled the bathroom while we were gone. They developed a web page where we could track progress and view pictures. When we returned, we were overwhelmed by the new bathroom. It was just as we wanted it, and more! Later, we planned on making our backyard more child-friendly, Steve and Sheila again came up with neat solutions, and when we again left for Europe, they got to work. The result was perfect. Homework Remodels are very thorough, very trustworthy, and everything is done by the book. If something is not like you want it to be, they fix it. This adds a strong sense of security and trust, and we will ask them again next time we are remodeling!

Great overall experience with Trilite builders! Quality work, attention to detail, cooperative for changes, and overall good people to work with. The project was on budget, on time and we would choose them again. Our project was a mother-in-law suite home addition. Mom is thrilled with her place and we are pleased as well.

Homework remodels completely remodeled our Master Bath in an early 1960"s retro style in keeping with the age of our house. We did the demo and they did almost everything else with a few exceptions such as painting and light fixtures. Aaron was the one who did the work and did an excellent job. His attention to detail was amazing we were extremely impressed with his work. The bathroom turned out beautiful. Everything ran smoothly through the whole process. It did take longer than expected being there was only one man on the job, but in the end it was well worth it. The only issue that came up was the subcontractor that laid the terrazzo tile tried to hurry the finish on the floor and did a very poor job on the finish. Steve stood behind it though, and offered to make it right. We chose to refinish it ourselves. They were a tad on the expensive side, but as we have learned the hard way over the years, You Get What You Pay For. It was well worth the money.

In 2008, Homework Remodels completed general cosmetic updates and a kitchen and bathroom remodel in my 1959 Allied home in South Scottsdale. Homework Remodels offered design ideas and completed the work in a professional and timely manner. When there were problems with the kitchen cabinet company, Homework Remodels stepped in to correct the problem and offered assitance to the kitchen cabinet company to keep the kitchen remodel going forward. Even today, I remain very happy with the work Homework Remodels completed in my home and would not hestiate to contact them again.

The three aged bathrooms in our historic home, dating back to the 1930s, were in dire need of remodeling. After interviewing several contractors, we hired Homework Remodels and could not be more pleased with the outcome. Steve and his highly skilled crew rebuilt all three from the ground up; updating and rerouting plumbing and electrical; replacing subfloors; installing new fixtures, travertine tile, and drywall; and plastering and repainting all surfaces and trim. The care they took to protect the wood floors and other surfaces in our home and the quality of every aspect of their work was outstanding. He finished the job on time, with minimal disruption to our daily life. We cannot recommend Steve highly enough, 5 stars all the way!

Tri-Lite remodeled most if the interior of a resale house we bought. We had all new flooring installed, interior painted, new cabinets installed and granite countertops installed. We were under some time pressure as we had sold our current home. All the work was completed in time for us to move in before we closed on our old house sale. Tri-Lite was particularly helpful in working with our lender on our renovation loan. We would use them again.

Steve and his team were very professional , knowledgeable, and placed value on ensuring the customer was satisfied. Their sub suppliers (drywall, granite, cabinet, painters, etc..) were knowledgeable and did quality work. There was some re-work required that we identified, but there were no issues to get it resolved.

Steve Shinn provided a complete remodeling of our kitchen, patio, pool, and backyard, including all creent landscaping. The work was done in two stages, first the kitchen and then the rest. All of the work done through Homework Remodels was excellent. We and Steve can be proud of it.

Homework Remodels did an outstanding job of renovating our 65 year old home, which was in a state of significant disrepair when we purchased it. The remodeling required a new roof, new electrical, plumbing, heating/cooling, flooring, paint, plaster, fencing... They completed the job on a tight schedule so we could move in upon the sale of our previous home. We were kept well informed of the progress and were involved in the process. Highly recommended. Five years later the repairs/upgrades to our house have stood the test of time. We are still very satisfied.

Thanks to Homework Remodels for a great job helping me restore my 1920s home. After the restoration was complete on the original house, they built my addition which included a master suite, a laundry room and a breakfast nook. They are very knowledgeable about historic restoration and they knew how to work with the historic society and the city to get the proper approvals and permits needed to meet the historic preservation requirements. We had a covered deck added to our two-story home in 2008. It turned out exactly as we imagined. We love having the extra shade downstairs as well as a shady deck upstairs. It also created more space to put a solar system on our house. Tri-lite got the work done on-time and within budget. We were very pleased. This year we noticed a leak at the edge of the roof above the deck. The adhesive for the flashing had dried out. This was a flaw in the available material for building adhesives, not in workmanship. Despite being past the warranty period, Tri-lite split the repair cost and let me choose the company to perform the repair. Needless to say, I'm very pleased with their support and willingness to back their work.

I have used Tri-Lite builders on three separate projects - an addition to my house, design and build of a custom wall unit incorporating beautiful Italian doors, and a full upgrade and remodel of my kitchen. In each instance the designs were superb and the craftsmanship impeccable. The designer had great ideas, was very attentive to our needs, the project manager kept tight oversight of the job and in each case the work was finished on-time and budget. Homework Remodels has helped us with our historic 1946 Haver home on several occasions. They replaced the rotted tapered wood posts on our front facade with with new posts. They've hung real wood doors for us and done lots of patching in our plaster ceiling and walls after removing funky speakers that didn't belong in this house. They removed a weird doorway that was not original to the house restoring it to the original floor plan in the living room. Steve and his crew have always had excellent attention to detail. They work quickly and clean up after themselves. I'm looking forward to giving them a call when we are ready for our next project.
