We wholeheartedly recommend KLC if you're looking for a professional, skilled and trust-worthy general contract for your home remodeling project. We hired KLC to do an extensive remodeling of our 2nd floor Maui condo that included whole new flooring, removing some walls, relocating the AC unit, update electrical and complete remodeling of the kitchen and two bathrooms. We also had to do this remodeling remotely as we live on the mainland. KLC was excellent to work with! They provided excellent communication throughout the project, offer good advice and suggestions, and listened closely to what we wanted. Throughout the process we felt we were in good hands and well informed of the progress. We definitely felt we can trust KLC which is vitally important when you're remodeling remotely. The project stayed on time and budget and the few times when someone we wanted wasn't available, KLC worked hard to make sure we had options aligned with what we wanted. They are very detailed oriented and it showed when they came back multiple times without being asked to do further touch-ups and polish. We were really pleased at the level of personal attention and detail that they put into our project including shopping for decorations such as mirrors and rugs to help complete the home since we're off-island and had very limited time to do those ourselves. These weren't part of the contract and just something KLC did for us. Throughout the project, our AOAO and property management team looked in on the project and they all gave high remarks on the KLC team. When we came out to inspect the condo at the end, we were very happy with the level of quality and thoughtfulness that was put into it and only had minor cosmetic things for the punch list such as us deciding to move some paintings so we wanted the previous holes patched. We feel very lucky to have found KLC and have them work on our project and very happy with the results! Kim is wonderful! I found her here on Houzz, and from seeing her work and reading the reviews, was totally sold. But - I had to do my due diligence, so interviewed several other contractors for our condo remodel. After doing so, Kim was still my top pick so we went with her. Kim is very knowledgeable, has great communication, and offers lots of great ideas to enhance any project. She was so good we kept adding on to our project and are planning on working with her again on another remodel. She's not just good at what she does, she's also very likable, trustworthy and fun to collaborate with. I love our new kitchen and other improvements that Kim implemented (only kitchen photos are shown in this review but she did much more!)

Highly professional. Attention to detail. Probably the most conscientious and ethical professional I've worked with and that has been many. Very aesthetically oriented and a super problem solver who knows what is out there, She is very good a directing solutions to a proper aesthetic end within the taste levels of her clients. In 2013 kim and her crew re did our kitchen in the condo. Picked out the items for us., had to move cabinets and they did a wonderful job . We had to leave and go back to Calif. And she kept me posted at all times and sent pictures . We didn't even see the project in person until 2014. When we did we were very happy and had her do a bathroom. We were at the time so they were great workout ng around us For any problem she had the answer. Once again they were wonderful Her crew are good people, very respectful, very neat , always clean d up,around them. I love them they are the Best.

Kim Lawrence is one of the very best General Contractors on Maui! She is always my first call when clients need help with anything. She has assisted with bids, work, permits and more. She goes WAY above and beyond anything the others will do. She has a really nice way of talking with people, and listening. Her energy is really positive and friendly and easy to work with. I'm sure everyone she works with ends up being her friend, she is just a stellar person in the world. I trust her 1000% with my treasured clients, and that is a big statement for me. She is currently doing a lot of work for my clients including wood floors, tile floors, installing A/C, no job seems to be too big or too small for Kim and she always does it with a smile. I have had KLC do two renovations for me now, and have been thrilled with the service both times. They get the job done right and on budget. They are also very accommodating, and will come up with suggestions for improvements, but are always respectful of our final wishes and deliver exactly what we want. They are also great to work with when you live far from the job site, as we do. Great communications and updates along the way so there are no at the end.

A little background.....we own a 2nd home in Kihei, a small condo in Keonekai Villages. Last year (2014) we decided to remodel the 2 bathrooms and made contact with 3 contractors for estimates. Two came out for quick discussions and we never heard from them again. Kim Lawrence of KLC then sat down with us, listened to what we wanted to do, and spent a few hours becoming actively interested in our project. She offered suggestions and alternatives, all the while allowing us to make the final determination -- we were so impressed with her level of interest and involvement. She made us feel we had a partner in all of this, not just someone doing the work. We signed the contract and returned to Calif for a few months while Kim and her crew went to work....and throughout all that time, Kim kept us informed every step of the way with email progress reports and pictures of the progress. When issues came up,. she sent them to us for our decisions and included her recommendations, which usually we accepted. The project was finished in the time promised, and for the contracted price. There were no cost overruns or unexpected situations that would have called for more money --- Kim had really covered all her bases with the initial estimate. And the final result was startling --- it was beautiful, all work was flawless and we received many compliments from all who saw it. In fact, we were so pleased with Kim's professionalism, honesty and integrity, that this year (2015) we again contracted with KLC to totally remodel the kitchen and eating area..........and that project is currently under way, with Kim once again keeping us appraised with emails and pictures as the progress continues.

KLC Design and Build are an excellent team to work on your home. KLC is responsive providing a quote for the work in a timely manner, keeping us apprised of the various steps in the project. KLC staff are polite, neat, friendly people. Any time we had a question they were quick to provide an answer and to explain the whys of what they were doing. There are always some changes in a project this size and KLC was ready to work with us on the changes we wanted to make. Project was to build an 300 Sq ft extension of our current lanai with new lanai wrapping around our house per architectural plans to match architectural details from rest of the house, replace railing system on existing lanai and front porch with new railing system used on lanai extension. remove and replacing tile on front porch replace exterior lights replace outdoor water spigots add fencing around pool and pool equipment We will certainly use KLC Design and Build for any future projects on our home.
