We had a large fully unfinished basement and Matrix transformed it into a beautiful fully finished basement and bath with a fireplace in just 7 weeks. Ben, our project manager, was the best part of it all. He was present, knowledgeable, and quick to address any little bumps that popped up along the way. Matrix also uses an app which allows you to see photos, calendar of contractors/projects each day, manage financing, etc. We would recommend any project Ben is overseeing to anyone in need of a remodel!

Overall, the experience with Matrix was great. Special shout out to Oscar and his partner as they did fantastic carpentry work, Bobby and his partner were great with electrical & Jorge and his team were phenomenal with all the drywall. A few hiccups along the way as a potential code issue wasn’t identified nearly as early as it should have been, however, Jackie and Ben were able to put our mind at ease if anything arose from inspections. Ben and Jackie were great with communication throughout the process, never going more than 24 hours without a response. A carpet installation up charge was disappointing as it wasn’t known about ahead of time and didn’t appreciate the carpet installation owner insulting me after having just met me 10 minutes prior, but I can’t fault Matrix for that. It’s worth noting though that the carpet installation crew themselves were great - would certainly recommend Matrix to others but with any company improvements in certain areas are needed.

Our home was purchased as new construction and completing the unfinished basement seemed overwhelming. After a neighbor had a great experience with Matrix, we explored working with them, took the plunge and are grateful that we did. Matrix provided us with a “One-Stop-Shop” for a very complicated project. Their in-house design team started with our ideas and then came back with recommendations that improved the outcome. The project management team kept all of the trade teams moving like an orchestra conductor, kept us informed throughout the project and effectively dealt with the inevitable “curve-balls” that arose. Bottom-line, I would work with Matrix again and will recommend them to family and friends.

Our experience with Matrix was good. We had a basement that needed demo but was mostly bare concrete floor and walls. Construction went smoothly and each trade cleaned up the job site daily. Overall communication with this company was good. Any issues were handled thru email via the Builders app and were responded to within a reasonable timeframe. Ben G. our assigned project site manager was in communication the entire time and any question I had he was quick to respond. He kept us informed of any potential delays and was quick to respond to any questions I had. The Buildertrend App made it easy to communicate with the Matrix team and stay informed on the subcontractors’ schedules. Overall, just a great experience and I like our new basement.

We had our basement done by Matrix basements and we were very happy with the process start to finish. Victor was our project manager and he was great. He called us and kept us up to date on everything that was happening and stopped by quite a bit to check on things. Matrix has an app for your phone with a calendar which shows you exactly what days workers will be in and they stayed on schedule. The app also shows you your payments and has all your documentation included. All the guys who came here to work were very polite, professional, clean and did great work. I recommend them!

An excellent basement contractor. I have a background in construction having been a CFO for contractors. I knew what to expect from a good contractor. From the initial proposal through the completion of the work Matrix was good to their word and completed things according to schedule. Every milestone and deadline has been met. The app that they use for scheduling and tracking progress with photos makes the process seamless and facilitates good communication with the construction team and you as the owner's representative throughout the construction period. The schedule was created with time contingencies in mind, meaning for example, they scheduled 2 days for completion when it actually took just one day for a particular item. This was a buffer and it succeeded in keeping the project on time

Matrix has been great to deal with from the first meeting to the final inspections. Ben was our field manager and always kept us updated. One of the best things about working with Matrix is the Builder App that is used to communicate with them and to know every step of the way the progress being made and the calendar of when all the respective people (plumbers, carpenters, electricians, inspectors, etc) were coming out. Great experience overall. You get what you pay for with a service like Matrix. I am not in construction, and I paid for peace of mind for my basement project. I got more than I expected since Matrix coordinated the permit process, all of the materials procurement, all of the tradesmen that came through, the logistics of material delivery, material movement into the space from the delivery trucks, the city inspections, and likely a hundred other activities and decisions that must be made along the way. I didn't have to do any of that, which was a great weight off my shoulders. From the start. all the trades that came through were on time, with Matrix uniforms and tarps to protect flooring. It was clear that each trade was professional and adept at their work. I was impressed by each one, the attention to detail and the thoroughness. I liked the way the project was managed. I was provided access to a portal that contained a detailed schedule of work, a place to make payments, a place to send messages to the Matrix team and a place where the trades uploaded photos of the progress. The work was assigned a Project Manager that became my central contact, which was great. Any question or concern that came up, I took it up with him. If the trades had a question or concern, they took it up with him. That made for a very smooth process overall. I didn't have any issues throughout the work and that is because I received timely communication of any changes in the schedule or anything else that came up. From my part, I made an effort to do the same; to communicate my needs and questions. I am very happy with the final result and I have peace of mind that it is done correctly and to code. I don't anticipate any problems with the work and I look forward to using the space for years to come.

I have nothing but great things to say about our experience working with Matrix Home Solutions. The process was smooth from the very beginning. Everything went up very quickly and we are very happy with the speediness and quality of the work. Gerardo was one of the hardest workers I’ve ever seen not only with this project but in general. He came to do the walls, doors, trim, etc. He went above and beyond what we could have imagined. Gerardo was very clear on what his plans were for his work, gave me education on what looks best based on his experience, and always encouraged us not to be shy about pointing things out if they needed to be touched up because he truly wanted customer satisfaction (even if it created more work for him.) He was incredibly respectful coming into our home, very approachable, and professional. Thank you, Gerardo, for everything! Your hard work really made the whole thing come together at the very end! Finally, Rick the field manager! Rick was amazing to work with! He was always looking out for the best interest of the customers. He was very dependable and always went above and beyond in his work. He was flexible with and changes we threw at him and always encouraging us to share our thoughts. Rick is incredibly professional, has a lot of knowledge, experience, and thought outside of the box. I also appreciate that he was able to look at things and catch the original plans and how it may impact our home life moving forward. For example, thinking about us and how we would move furniture back into the living space and offering to order a wider door to make our lives easier to do that. Rick was always looking to make things better and more efficient. There were things that Rick did not have to do for us but was more than willing and we truly could not have asked for a better filed manager to work with. Rick, our project manager, was fantastic for our basement project. He checked in frequently via visits to the site, texts & calls & responded to any questions we had quickly as well. We had things we didn’t think of until the project was going & he made adjustments with no complaints. The company that built our house messed up a lot when they were building & just about every subcontractor found something that wasn’t built or done correctly - they fixed all of them. Any hiccups in the schedule were resolved quickly. All the subcontractors cleaned up well after themselves. They also painted the walls coming out of the basement that got scratched/scuffed up during construction. We’re going to use matrix in the future for any remodeling needs upstairs!

The basement of our dreams has become a reality. It could not have happened without the expertise of Matrix. Carpenters Neil and Grant were amazing and went above and beyond to ensure everything was perfect. They were easy to work with and helped explain everything. Just make sure you review all designs as we had a bit of back and forth around a difficult bathroom layout, but the end result speaks for itself.

The Materials The contractors they used and how they worked with us to make sure everything was perfect! Ben Gibbons was our Superintendent and so glad he was. He was very responsive. currently almost 2months late on completion. Tons.of.no.shows.or.late when scheduled to.work.on basement! Since they are are.late.on completion, no more contractors to.finish work on basement, as they are doing other projects now. So.basement is.late and they are making it even later by.sending.no.team to.finish work. Currently only supervisor is.finishing basement when he has time. Supervisor is.great and really.only positive thing.about Matrix. Tons of hidden costs as cost of basement went up from original agreement. They make changes to original agreement as they see fit without notifying you, unless.you catch it. $50k to install drywall, drop ceiling, new basement windows and stairs pretty.much. no bathroom install. This also doesn't include carpeting or.paint as.we are.doing.work ourselves to save on costs.

Even with all the projects he was managing, he always made us feel like we were on top of the list. Our team of subcontractors were all experts in their respective trades. Planning: They are really good at planning the whole process. They deliver supplies on time. Pick up garbage on time. All the contractors show up when they are supposed to. That’s nice! Concerns: Sales process: Didn’t like the sales process. It’s vague. I didn’t feel we got the full disclosure always. This happened with a stair nosing issue. A manager at Matrix told me emphatically that there were no other options for stair nosing that is flush to the floor. I called the manufacturer and learned that they indeed had such an option. Matrix ended up putting in the flush stair bullnose Overall, just a few hiccups on a big project, on time, done with great care and quality. Highly recommend1

Matrix transformed the old basement into a new, warm and inviting living space that we know will become the favorite place for family and friends to gather. Our project manager, Ben, did an excellent job of keeping us informed every step of the way, answering our questions and making small adjustments to the plan on the fly. Went very well - they handled all of the work from start to finish including handling contractors. They were very flexible throughout the process in updating plans as issues came up (like when we realized the space at the bottom of the staircase would be too small to move furniture in, they helped rework the space to make it more open and roomy). I think it went very well and the finished product was delivered much earlier than expected and the quality of the work is very high.

Matrix did an amazing job finishing our basement! This was a long time coming and they listened and gave us there input on what we wanted/ needed. The schedule was on point and they did not stray away from it despite COVID. Our main contacts were with our GC Ben and Jay, which were very attentive and communitive. Overall finished product is what was promised. We had some delays due to permit issues with the village, some of the subcontractors made a mess of the ceiling after it was finished, but all issues were addressed and fixed & the basement looks great.

My Husband and I had Matrix out to give us a quote on our basement about four months ago. The design consultant that came out was very knowledgeable and had great ideas to give us on how we should lay out our basement. We were not to familiar with the company but after sitting with the consultant and going over everything in great detail with him we were very impressed. They manufacture a wall that is 100 percent waterproof but looks and finishes like drywall. Once we saw this and saw the quality of work that they do with Basements we thought it was a no brained to hire them to finish ours. The whole process throughout the job went very smoothly. The project manager was great to work with and communicated with us throughout the entire project. The crew that we had out to finish our space was amazing. The quality of work was beyond our expectations and the attention to detail was unbelievable. The basement turned out beautiful and we could not be happier. I would highly recommend Matrix Basements to anyone who is looking to have their basement finished or remodeled.

Matrix did an outstanding job on our basement project. As with most construction projects, there were short stints of downtime and unexpected circumstances however Matrix did a great job of communicating with us and resolving issues as they arose. If you are thinking of remodeling your basement, we would highly recommend Matrix!

So disappointed with Matrix & would never recommend them. We did a lot of research upfront, went to their show room, saw their wall system, went to an open house, etc. Spoke w/ one of the owners & were convinced that even though this wall design was more expensive than we wanted to pay, it would be the best long term fit for our home. We scheduled an appointment for Matrix to come and measure/quote our basement. They showed up, measured the basement & provided a quote to us immediately, while still at the house. The quote was $40K & my husband and I needed to talk about this. We were not in a position to make a decision immediatley. This didn't go over well with the estimator who was at our house. While he was a decent guy, he told us he worked 100% commissions & he had to call his manager from our home if we did not commit that day. We let him know that we would take our time deciding & if we wanted to proceed, we would contact them. Fast forward to after we signed the contract. We were given a lead time of approximately 8-10 weeks from start to completion. Needless to say, it was close to 14 weeks before complete. During the construction period, the communication was non-existent. The Project Manager NEVER got back to us. We would go days before he would respond to a text/call/email. The first crew that was working on our house even admitted that he was never available. We were told to start communicating with the crew, not the PM. The problem is, Matrix hires the construction crews & they are not employees of Matrix; therefore, anything that you are not happy with or want to change, has to be approved by Matrix before the crews will do the work. This lead to many delays. There were so many delays with our construction because the workers said they couldn't proceed with certain things until Matrix agreed they were going to pay for the work. We had drawings/plans that showed the work they were supposed to do but there always seemed to be questions/discrepencies. We were so disappointed with the lack of communication that I contacted one of the owners, who was a very nice guy. He lit a fire & communication improved, for all of one week. On top of this, the quality of the work being done was terrible. For example, the crew put the carpet in on the stairs first. Then they walked up & down the stairs every single day, without covering the new carpet. They didn't cover one thing while doing the work (washer, dryer, fridge). And they didn't clean/sweep once. We demanded an on-site meeting with our Project Manager to show him the things we were unhappy with. I believe the worst thing could have been the crown molding that literally dipped down 1/2" on every wall. They never brought out a laser to make sure it was level. There were gaps above & below it through out the entire basement. The installed the electrical outlets literally over 2' above the washer & driver, which looked ridiculous. When they sprayed the ceiling, they didn't pull out any of the old insulation, they just painted on top of it. When they installed the shower, they left close to 1/4" gap in between the flooring & the shower wall. Just careless, lazy workmanship. On top of this, they kept telling us that they couldn't find things that we ordered. We had everything in the garage & they would bring things into the basembent as they needed it. Two times, we found stuff that they told us we needed to buy. It was just in a big pile of crap that they never cleaned up. Example: they just left the bathroom vanity box sitting in the basement until we asked them to throw it out. They put the lighting fixture in a closet under the stairs when they started & then questioned where it was. When the PM came out, he agreed that it looked like crap & was very apologetic. Had it ever showed up and checked on the crew and their work, he would have known. Or if he ever responded to our calls/texts/emails. They ended up getting rid of that crew & hiring a new one to tear out a lot that was done & redo it. The second crew did a much better job & we were happy with their quality of work. The downside, they were also working on another house, so they had to juggle between finishing ours & working on another one. When we had our final walk through, my husband asked them to clean up a back room that they had empty boxes in (from the sink, vanity, etc). They said they would, and of course, they did not. The PM also said he was so sorry & was going to send us some gift cards to make up for our headaches. Those never came. We just received a survey from Matrix & both my husband & I filled it out, being brutally honest with our dissatisfaction. I was contact by someone in marketing who listened to my complaints & was apologietic as well. He ended up sending a $250 gift card & some cookies to us. Obviously marketing doesn't do much with the feedback they received, as today, we received a letter asking us if we wanted to make $500 by referring Matrix to anyone. NEVER!

Matt and Nick came by on relatively short notice and spent a lot of time with my wife and I going over designs on first visit. The suggestions were fantastic and their portfolio is impressive. They have some great solutions for dealing with water, and they went over everything in very good detail. On top of all that, they were very easy to talk to and work with. They weren't very pushy and worked with us on financing. I highly recommend Matrix for your basement finishing needs.

Our contractor Jesus did amazing work and was very trustworthy. All the trades people were very courteous and did great work. If you have any reservations about completing your basement Matrix well calm your fears Our project supervisor Rick worked well with us and answered all our questions. They even helped us out and worked with us when we had an issue with one of our walls that had a leak. Highly recommended this company!

My wife and I were tired of looking at our unfinished basement so we decided to meet with Matrix after visting one of their open houses. We were very impressed with what we saw - along with the quality of their craftsmanship! After interviewing several other companies for the job we chose Matrix. I was very impressed with the quality and timeline of completion with this company. But what really impressed me was that 16 months later, when we had a plumbing problem, this company came out and fixed the problem for no charge. This is a first class company that stands behind their products and installation.

Note: This review is from the onsite project perspective. The guys at Matrix estimated a 3-4 week timeframe to finish our basement. They were pretty much spot on, with the project lasting 4 weeks. Everyone we had dealt with were both professional and very friendly. Rodrigo and Antonio were onsite the entire process, and their craftsmanship was more than I expected. I kept throwing little things here and there (i.e. - last minute requests to make cut outs in the wall for in wall speakers, adding drywall to the ceiling so I can install in-ceiling speakers, and custom build a shelf for the center channel in my home theater...to name a few). These guys grinded it out day in, and day out during the project. They handled last minute changes like pros, and were able to adjust on the fly. Ricky, the field manager, checked in from time to time to see how everything was going, and made sure we were happy with the build. Needless to say, when they were done, our basement looked fantastic, and we were left incredibly happy with the end result!

My husband and I are extremely pleased with the way our basement turned out. As promised, the crew was in and out by the time specified. It is amazing how everything was organized by Matrix and we didn't have to bring in different contractors for each item. The process from start to finish was seamless. Brian W. (project manager) was awesome. His attention to detail and his vision really came to life at the end of the project. Primary focus prior to start of the basement project was timely completion and quality workmanship. Matrix Basement scores extremely high in both areas. The project was completed ahead of schedule and the quality of workmanship is excellent.

We wanted to have our unfinished basement transformed into a space that would maximize our space and provide an area for our kids to play. We saw an ad on the local clipper and then did some research on the company and product. The bid was a bit higher than some other companies we had do a bid, but less than 10% higher and the product quality more than makes up for the difference. The process went longer than originally quoted after signing the bid, but this is to be expected when it comes to remodels. We also made a few changes to the project as it went on and that added a couple days or so. Everyone we dealt with was respectful and knowledgeable and the basement turned out excellent. After the project was complete, it took a while to have the final re-touches completed - but the basement was completely functional so it was not a huge deal. I would absolutely recommend Matrix to remodel your basement.

We hired Matrix to finish half of our basement to serve as an extra media/entertainment hub in the house, as well as an additional gathering space for large groups of people. The process, start to finish, was great. Our lead carpenter, Don, was very attentive to our needs/wants, as well as to the details of the project. His team was prompt, respectful, hard working, and friendly. There are so many parts of the basement we love, from the open floor plan, to the quality products and craftsmanship, to the dry bar we added on a whim, at the last second (this didn't throw the team at all, they heard everything the we were hoping for, and made it into reality). I would highly recommend Matrix to friends and family, and in fact, already have several times over.

We are very satisfied with the approximate 800 sf of finished basement that Matrix Basement Systems designed and built for us. The crews were very talented and professional. Brian W. was great at throwing out different options during the design phase. He also helped us work around a tricky water meter in our main space. The wall system is very solid and has a great finish. The carpentry team of Matt, Mark, and Bill did excellent work. Tom, the HVAC guy, was great at figuring out how to design the new vents depending on layout. John, the electrician, was so great at determining future needs for outlets, Internet jacks, etc, so we will have exactly what we need. Raphael, the plumber, worked very efficiently at roughing in our plumbing for a future bathroom and wet bar. The delivery team if Joe and Keith were so friendly and quick. Matrix was great at making sure we were to code on all areas, and the painted ceiling looks very cool and modern. The crews cleaned up the area nightly, and I was always kept informed on where things were. Initially, we were held up by permits, but once Matrix got the green light, the crews really knocked the project out!

We are very happy with our Matrix Basement. We had a project that had very specific needs and the team was able to make these. When we had questions or concerns, they were addressed quickly and no push back from Matrix. I would recommend using them for your basement.

We've waited a while after our basement project was completed to post this review. We did that in order to give a better assessment not only of Matrix's installment practices, but also to get a sense of the product once it's been lived in for a while. We enlisted Matrix to undertake a sizeable and complex turnkey basement project a little over a year ago. the project entailed converting a semi-finished basement into a fully-finished basement complete with guest bedroom (with new egress window), entertainment room, recreation room, full bathroom, and kitchenette. Yes, lots of details and lots of square footage. Matrix supplied nearly everything for the project EXCEPT the following: shower and floor tile in bathroom (bought that stuff at Floor & Decor); bathroom vanity and mirror; and closet and pantry shelving. The work was very solid and the construction crew was courteous, tidy (as far as projects of this kind go), and efficient, as were the handful of contractors that worked with Matrix (plumber, electrician, floorer, painter). That said, the crew chief could be a bit pushy and brusque, but he would tone it down when reminded that we were, effectively, his boss. best to remember that YOU are the customer, and not the other way around. As it was, our sales rep made sure that we were content all the way through the process, even when that meant interceding on our behalf with the Matrix crew chief. I have no complaints about the quality of the components or the construction. This outfit really handles the details well. Hangups? A couple of minor ones. First, Matrix was right to suggest, in light of some low-hanging duct work, we go with a black ceiling. (If you don't know what that is, check with Matrix and they'll show you.) Great idea, but imperfect delivery. While the concept is excellent, the primer/paint combo they use (which isn't cheap stuff, by the way) does not hold very well to certain pipes, especially exposed copper pipes, and pipe insulation. As a consequence, we found that the black ceiling paint was, and still is, flaking and falling off of a handful of pipes along the ceiling. There are alternatives to painting these items, so if I were you, I'd check with Matrix, so that you and they can learn from our lesson. Other than that, we've discovered a very small amount of tile separation between the bathroom shower wall and floor (both tile). We'll check with Matrix shortly to see if they can patch that up . . . probably just a quick grout patch job along the corner. Our account rep, Brian, was great with us, as were all of the other contacts at Matrix. Professional, and almost always right back to us to respond to a call or email. Now that we've had several months to "live" in our basement (so to speak), and can say that I am very pleased with our decision to finish the basement and to use Matrix. Maybe you could find a lower-cost alternative to Matrix, but I doubt that you'll find a more professional outfit dedicated to delivering the basement product you want in a timely fashion, using quality materials, and deploying as skilled and experienced a set of installers as were assigned. One last bit for readers of this review: I cannot stress enough that ours was a large and complex project, even tricky in some respects. Matrix had estimated a certain, relatively ambitious, project completion date that Matrix did not hit. No big deal for us, but I think all consumers should keep in mind that nearly every home improvement contractor -- at least the ones I've used over the years -- will be a little bit too optimistic in its targeted delivery date. I cannot speak to simpler projects, but I would guess that for a more "plain vanilla" project than ours, the Matrix guys have a good handle as to project time frames. If you're in the market, go check out a Matrix basement open house in your area like we did. I think it's a good way to size up the quality of the product, as well as one of many sources of ideas about how to configure or re-configure your basement.

My wife saw a ad for matrix. I researched basement remodeling & construction on the internet and found what I wanted. Matrix had a waterproof system with excellent insulation qualities so the choice to use them was a " no-brainer". Matrix designed the remodel including hvac,wiring,and most importantly all city permits. I was able to save some money by personally installing the flooring and painting the basement. the job was finished on time with no problems.

The entire Matrix Team was great to work with throughout the entire project. Jesus, our crew leader really cared about his workmanship and frequently took time to keep us updated in regards to the progression of our project. I would recommend Matrix to anyone looking to finish their basement.

If something is not done correctly or is missing, you need to get right on it. We did have several cases where something wasn't right and we asked to have some work be redone. The project took a little longer than expected, mostly due to some days lost redoing some work or waiting for materials. As questions and issues came up I was able to work with the Project Manager and onsite workers. After the installation was complete, we had 2 instances that I needed addressing. Matrix arranged to have someone make the repairs in a timely manner. I am pleased that Matrix really does stand behind their work. If you are concerned with your long term investment in your basement, I would definitely recommend Matrix Basement Systems.

We have our 1,300 square foot basement finished by Matrix Basement Syemter in just 8 weeks as promised. 3 people crew, Peter, the team lead, John and Andy, the key workers showed up at 7:00am daily without skipping a day. John's attention to dentils and his craftsmanship was the best I have ever worked with. We are so pleased with our new basement living space created by Matrix Basement Systems. From the beginning when Joe D and Keith helped me clean out 40 years of stuff, to Peter's carpentry crew of Andy, Johaness and the outstanding trim man, to Juan who dug our escape window, to the wonderful painters everything was perfect. All of the workers showed up very early in the morning and worked hard, long and steady all day long. They took great pride in their work as if it were their own home. Matrix Basements did a great job with our complete basement remodel. We were able to custom pick every thing from flooring, moulding and paint and we were also able to refinish our fireplace. Our project manager, Brian Westrom, was on the same page with us design and decision wise from the beginning. Our construction team was hard working and professional. The painters were also awesome at what they do and finished the work very quickly. When we ran into any issues we were always able to resolve the problems in a professional manner and communication was generally quite good across all of the teams we had in our house. Overall a good experience and the basement looks great! Looking forward to a dry, mold free basement for years to come.

Our installers, Mike and Jesse are true artisans who communicated with us throughout the project ensuring we were pleased with the work and progress. Although we added to the project, they still completed on time. Jon and his team went the extra step to bring our existing electrical up to current code. The expertise and efficiency of Raphael and the plumbers quickly resolved pre-existing issues. Even the warehouse staff, delivery team, and cleanup team were a pleasure to work with. The Matrix team led by Brian has provided us with a beautiful, multi-functional living space that greatly exceeded our expectations.

Matrix performed the work quickly, in half the time that was quoted, but it took several more weeks for work to be corrected and brought up to the standard of quality that was promised. Brian was very polite and visited several times after work was "completed" to make sure we were happy and all items were corrected.

Great experience!! Everything came out looking great. I did a lot of research on companies before i chose Matrix, and it was a tough decision. However, after the experience I had with them, I am completely confident that I chose the right company. The finished product is beautiful. Everyone was extremely helpful and courteous. Total satisfaction with the project. From start to finish the guys at Matrix took the time to really understand our specific needs. I'll admit, my wife and I can be a pain to work with, but the professionals at Matrix were extremely patient and accommodating throughout the entirety of the project. We just got ou basement finished 2 months ago and the quality and service was amazing! A month after we had it finished we had a flood from the sump breaking and couldn't be happier that we picked Matrix! The walls were fine and we didn't have to rip anything out or redo the walls. It saved us a lot of money and still have a beautiful finished basement!

We just finished our basement project and could not be happier. We live in an older home in Royal Oak and had matrix demo the old basement and build a new space for our kids. We did not do anything fancy, but a big open room, but now all the kids toys can go into the basement and we do not have to see them upstairs anymore! Andy and the carpenters were great. Justin was our project manager and helped us with any questions we had. The project took about 5 weeks and i give the guys a lot of credit for getting the place looking great again. It was a dark dingy basement before and now it feels clean and safe for our kids to play.

We had about 850sqft of our basement completed by Matrix in June 2015. The project started on time and was completed on time as well. The carpenters cleaned up at the end of each day and we are mostly pleased with the finished product. The two-star rating stems from the lack of communication between each person in this project. Our Project Manager came out to our house two times (the initial visit and the final inspection) and was over 1 1/2 hours late each time. He was completely rude and unapologetic. That attitude did not improve throughout the project. The Project Manager never once reached out to us - I had to call for updates and schedule my own final inspection. There were several times that the wrong product was delivered due to a miscommunication between our carpenters and this Project Manager. When we did speak to our PM, he was condescending and insulting. Our only construction-related issue was the design of a "custom" bookshelf that we paid for. There was nothing custom about it; it looked like something that could've been purchased at Wal-Mart. When we reached out to one of the owners/co-founders of Matrix, we were pretty much dismissed, his only concern being what kind of feedback/reviews I give this company. So my review is this - the quality is good, the price for some items is waaaaaaaay over-priced (bathroom, which we did not opt to do), and the communication/customer service is terrible. Matrix is mainly concerned with signing up as many people as possible and churning out the product (to the chagrin of their over-scheduled workers). I would not recommend this company to anyone, at least not under it's current direction/leadership.

We used their Livonia, MI office and in 5 months of time, not a single part of our basement finishing job is complete but they've been paid 60% of the money. The initial paint job was very bad and the attempted fix to the paint job lasted four days and they wouldn't come back to finish. They gave us excuse after excuse, project managers communicate by the occasional text message only in response to our reaching out. They have not met a single deadline they've given us. A representative demanded we remove a review on another site and when we refused, offered to give us $200 in gift certificates. I wish I never met them. My basement is a mess, nothing is finished and I have to now go hire other professionals to fix and finish what Matrix attempted to do. BUYER BE AWARE.

The finished product is beautiful! My 1970's outdated basement is now gorgeous! Oscar, our main installer was wonderful to work with;he is a great craftsman, personable,hardworking, and very conscientious. He cleaned up the work space nightly and took care of minor imperfections promptly. Having that said, there are some things to keep in mind. First off, please allow more than the advertised 1 1/2 hours for your initial consultation and note that if you sign on the spot, Matrix offers a slightly discounted price. If you prefer to have several estimates before starting a project,you might want to save Matrix for last to take advantage of the discount. Secondly, allow for some extra time for the project itself. The timing (and communication about it) of subcontracted work was sometimes delayed...windows didn't come in, flooring guy didn't show, etc. If you have had construction on your house before, I am sure you have experienced this. In the end though, Matrix did a wonderful job and I am EXTREMELY pleased.

We had Matrix Basement Systems finish our basement. Matrix was professional from the marketing of their product to the completion of the project. The on site workers were courteous and friendly. The work was completed on schedule, during each phase of the construction. A few minor issues that arose were resolved quickly by Matrix. Upon completion of the project, all project materials were removed. The project was not disruptive to our household at all. Matrix is not inexpensive, but we saw the value in their product and were willing to pay for a quality product that is guaranteed by a lengthy transferable warranty. Overall, we had an enjoyable experience having Matrix finish our basement.

Just completed basement remodel. Project planning and cost estimates were spot on... no surprises. Communications during project was excellent with project manager and work crew. Very impressed with quality of work! Crew was very neat and attention detail was evident. Every day they cleaned up the work site and there was no disruption to the upstairs.

We obtained several proposals for finishing our basement from various local contractors. After visiting a couple of Matrix Basement open houses, where we could see an actual representation of their product and workmanship and hear from the homeowners about their experience with Matrix, we also asked for a proposal from them. We are glad we did. I think we ended up with a beautiful, functional basement with a guarantee that we can pass on to the next owner of our home. The basement finishing project started off a little bumpy. The original project leader had issues that kept him from showing up on a regular basis, and there were also issues with the quality of his work, but Brian, one of the company's owners, came out immediately, assigned a new crew to the job and it was smooth sailing from then on. Peter, the new crew leader, and his guys worked from 7am until 5 or 6pm every day. They protected the parts of the basement that weren't being finished from any dust created during construction. They demo'd the previous sub-perfect work and then proceeded to do flawless work in creating the space we desired. In the end, we ended up with a BEAUTIFUL, HIGH QUALITY JOB. All throughout the process, Mike (who did the original sales presentation and proposal) and Brian (the owner) were involved and communicated with us to ensure things were on track and up to par. The job took a little longer than originally anticipated, but it was worth it. Friends who have seen the transformation have been very complimentary. We are fortunate to have a second stairway/entrance to the basement through the garage. We felt very comfortable with Peter and his crew, and gave him a code to open the garage. That way they could get to work every morning without having to bother us. We both actually left town on business trips twice, and allowed the guys to keep working while we were gone. We were very pleased with the two electricians who did the wiring, and also the HVAC guys who moved and reconfigured some ductwork to keep the ceilings high. They were all very knowledgable and conscientious. Overall, we are very pleased with the final product and all those at Matrix who worked to get the job done. My friends and family will confirm that I am very picky and detail-oriented and also very honest. I'm not sure what the deal is with some of these negative reviews. I would and do recommend Matrix Basement Systems without hesitation.

We are very satisfied with the work Matrix Basements did for our basement remodel. At the initial presentation meeting we put together a plan that we later decided was a bit more expensive than we wanted to go. Matrix was completely on board with us adjusting the plan to fit in our budget. All of the Matrix personnel we dealt with were professional and easy to work with. We were especially happy with the carpentry work that Joe and Louis did, they were the crew that completed most of our job. Joe was great about pointing out a few minor changes to make as the job progressed. We would definitely recommend giving Matrix a call if you’re considering a basement finishing.

We hired Matrix to do just our basement walls. The architect was VERY helpful, walking us through some DIY tips when working with their basement system that is different than the typical stud and drywall walls. The construction crew and finishing crews were respectful, efficient, and finished earlier than the estimated time frame. We are very happy with the product and the service.

Matrix designed and built out our complete basement interior. This was a 1100 square foot project with 3 room enclosures for utilities (furnace and sump pump) and storage, a wet bar with sink and refrigerator, and a full bathroom (shower, toilet and sink). The ceiling is dropped with Matrix product tiles, and the flooring is simulated wood . The Matrix wall system of prefabricated panels is a winner and was what initially interested us in considering using the company. It provides a very smooth, uniformly flat finish much more attractive than drywall finishes, which always some wave to them. The schedule was not only met, but exceeded -- Matrix scheduled the work to take 8 weeks, and it was 7-1/2 from start to finish, and that included one week delay for a plumbing and electrical inspection. This was not your typical construction job with delays and excuses, but a steady, delivery on time, and very polite group of workers. They were always punctual and were always courteous and careful to be as clean and neat as possible. They cleaned up every day, just as promised and left a complete, working jobsite. I would recommend the Matrix solution to anyone.

They were very accommodating to my schedule and finished about a week early. The installer put in time to make sure the job got done ahead a schedule. I got my basement finished with Matrix Basement Systems in early 2015. They worked much faster than I thought it was going to take. Every other quote I got was for more than Matrix quoted me and they were going to take at least 8 weeks, while Matrix only took 2 weeks from start to finish. The basement looks great and I feel I got a really great quality product for my money.

We initially found out about Matix from the open houses that they have around town. We went to an open house and went ahead and made an appointment for the sales person to come to our home to take a look at our unfinished basement and see what magic we could make. We knew right away that it would cost us a bit more to have the high level quality materials that Matrix is known for but we also could clearly see that it would be well worth it. The workers did such a good job keeping the basement as clean as possible during the construction. What we were most appreciative of is that there were no surprises and the price never changed. The quality of our basement is above all! The insulation system is unreal as the basement is warmer than the rest of our house even with the heat vents closed! We are also very pleased with the lack of noise that comes up from the basement. Great company, great workers, great quality=happy customers.

We hired Matrix to finish our substantial sized basement after having 5 floods in 6 years. My husband handled all of the planning meetings which took the amount of time I expected it would. Home construction or remodeling never happens as quickly as you'd like it to. We started with Matrix in mid-October and with the exception of the punch list, are finished. Like I said, our basement is expansive. Victor and Daniel were great to have around! They were for the most part, timely, and very communicative about what we could expect. In fact, everyone who we dealt with from Matrix were very respectful. Nice to have in our house. As far as cost goes, Matrix will not be the cheapest basement system you will find, but in the long run, I am quite sure the investment will be worth it. And, it is a quality, beautiful product!

We hired Matrix after meeting with one of their sales people, Timo. We also like the idea of a mold resistant wall system for our basement, and their ability to start very quick on our project as well. All the vendors matrix used were always very courteous and on time. We particularly loved the work the electricians and plumbers and HVACS teams did with their work, and all their good advice as well. Matrix let us take on projects we thought we could handle as well to save us some money on the project costs. Overall we were very satisfied with the work done, and are just starting to enjoy our new basement.

They have an innovative product that provides great insulation and finish. They gave me a tour of the company and found a very collegial and friendly working environment. They are very flexible with their product, from DIY to the most detailed worry-free finishings. The work was completed in about 10 weeks from start to finish. They give you a contact for your project who is always responsible and problem solving. Before completion they do a walk through that found many more touch-up issues that we did. Shows commitment for satisfaction and excellence. The only issues were with contractors as they were not always on time and they could have been more tidy.
