Merrick remodeled our entire home, and the results were breathtaking. They clearly have a passion for their projects. Our house had been in the family for decades and was in desperate need of a makeover. Merrick helped us keep the home's key structural and design elements while truly making the house our own. The renovation touched every nook of the house, from the basement to the attic, building an addition and bumping out a deck. But for as awesome as the final result was, the people are what make Merrick so special. Phil as the lead architect got to know us as he designed the renovation and then communicated with us regularly throughout. Dasia helped us to identify our interior design features, and Rodridgo's hands-on leadership on-site was masterful. I met the team on-site and saw them in action. They know their stuff. I raved about Merrick to a colleague, and it turned out that Merrick had renovated his home over a decade ago. He was also a happy client. Simply put, Addie and her team are top notch. I highly recommend Merrick.

I cannot recommend Merrick highly enough. My family’s experience with Merrick has been outstanding. We were familiar with their craftmanship even before we hired them for the first time in 2021, because they built an addition on the historic house we purchased several years ago. The previous owner had built a new kitchen and family room in the back, and from the moment we walked in, we recognized superior construction, meticulous attention to detail, and beautiful craftsmanship. Then, a pipe in the old part of the house sprang a leak last year, and we had to replace the hot and cold pipes, as well as the stack, going up to a second floor bathroom. We weren’t sure whether a general contractor or a plumber/painter combo was the way to go, but we contacted Merrick. They did an outstanding job and, to our delight, found that the scope of work was narrower than they estimated (they didn’t have to do a second wall cut to reach the leak) and so the final bill was about two-thirds of the estimate. They did a wonderful job with the plumbing itself, as well as the patching and the painting afterward, and were able to do the work without cutting into the woodwork that’s original to the house. In 2022, they were also able to help my in-laws, who had purchased and moved into a recently renovated house. A leaking pipe led to the realization that the plumbing contractor for the renovation had been completely incompetent. Not only was the plumbing work inferior and not up to code, but also made no sense, with bathroom vents not hooked up, pipes capped and left in the wall, joints not sealed. The contractor who had done the work with no idea what they were doing, then sealed up the walls and hoped no one would notice. After my in-laws discovered the problems, no one wanted to touch the job because it was such a disaster. We suggested they call Merrick. Once of the foremen from Merrick said it was the worst plumbing he’d ever seen in 40 years in the business. But they took the job, and Merrick fixed every problem, which required removing the HVAC for access, tearing open numerous walls, replacing all the bad plumbing, restoring all walls and ceilings, and doing all the necessary restorations to the kitchen and bathrooms, making them in some cases even better than before. Finally, we’ve had Merrick back in 2022 for some carpentry repairs to our porch steps, and they gladly did the work, even though it’s relatively minor work – in fact, they’re finishing today. Overall, I have found Merrick to be very honest, straightforward, prompt and forthcoming. They’ve stayed on schedule, show up when they say they will, explain each part of the work and every associated cost, and make suggestions that can greatly improve the overall outcome. Their attention to detail is impeccable. Good builders are not cheap; you get what you pay for. In Merrick’s case, I don’t regret a single penny we’ve paid them.

In the Spring of 2021, Merrick Design and Build designed and built a new screened in porch for us. We had a vision of a porch that would keep away the mosquitos. We wanted to be able to work or hang out with friends on the porch. The project went above and beyond what we hoped for. The patio with retaining wall looks like a small castle. The lighting and fan make the room more comfortable and easier to work in. The firepit works perfectly. We will enjoy the porch as our new favorite room of our home for years to come. The price was reasonable and the quality of work is the highest standard we have seen. Thank you Merrick.

MDBI designed and installed a new kitchen for me and I was so impressed because everything happened exactly on time, the worksite was kept meticulously clean, and the cost at the end matched the quote to the penny.. I totally trusted all their staff, who were pleasant and responsive throughout. I've had them back to solve several other problems since and have been more than satisfied every time.

After some discussion and time to reflect on our needs and preferences, Merrick was able, not only to address our needs, but also to do it in a creative manner, more than what we had even expected. Over the past several years Merrick Design & Build has done several projects to upgrade our 66 year old home. Most recently they completely remodeled our kitchen. We have always been extremely grateful for their assistance during the design phase and in this case help in choosing the best cabinetry and appliances for our needs and budget. Their carpentry crew and contractors were professional and kept to the schedule and met all deadlines. We have been extremely satisfied.

We just completed a master bath and walk-in closet renovation, as well as a basement rec room and laundry room renovation. Our house is an historic 130 year-old Victorian and both projects involved significant space reconfiguration that required design and structural problem solving. Merrick did a terrific job. Their staff and subs are outstanding; skilled, conscientious, flexible, and patient. They did their best to accommodate the realities of us living through the construction process, including being incredibly sweet to our son's 110 lb puppy. Merrick's budgeting and allowances were extremely accurate and included cost saving options that enabled us to come in slightly under budget (which never happens in home renovations!). This was our 5th renovation project over 35 years, the first with Merrick, and the quality of their work and business practices are really exceptional.

I have had the great pleasure to work with Merrick on several historically sensitive residential projects. The Merrick team takes great care of their clients and their clients' interests. They also have great respect for the design and the details of a project. Their managment skills are unsurpassed and they provide a beautiful finished product.
