My builder uses Houzz Pro to plan the timeline and give detailed estimates and daily updates with photos of progress, and provide invoices at pre-agreed key points in the build. This made the whole experience much more efficient and stress-free.

Owner and Founder, Michael J. Harkowa is a graduate of New York Institute of Technology with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Architecture. He has over 28 years of experience in the construction industry and has been a licensed contractor since 1989. He established MJH Construction in 1993 in Brentwood, NY, providing customers with remodeling and design services. In 1997, Mike moved to Maryland to pursue new opportunities in the remodeling and new construction markets as a founding member of Needwood Construction, LLC. He held the position of Senior Member/Partner of Needwood Construction, LLC for 15 years, as well as Vice President and later, President of Needwood Homes, Inc. for 9 years. In 2012, Mike re-established MJH Construction, LLC in Easton, Maryland with a commitment to provide professional building, remodeling, design and construction management services.

We are wonderfully happy with all of the professional work done by Mike's crew. Mike's initial consultation was a comfortable experience -- no hard sell which had been our experience with all other bidders -- and creatively helpful as we were nervous about changing the color of our siding and roofing. Mike and his team were a pleasure to work with. The guys were actually fun to have around, never intrusive, always polite and they cleaned up daily beyond our expectations. The project came in on budget. We have no complaints at all, only good memories of the total transformation of the exterior of our house.

Mike is one of the best contractors we have worked with, hands down (and we currently own four houses). We hired him at the recommendation of our neighbor to build a raised flagstone patio (aprox 16 x 18) off the back of our home on the Chesapeake Bay. We also knocked out the back wall of our living room to provide access to the patio via a sliding glass door (Andersen 400 Series). Mike was extremely prompt and responsive throughout the entire process, and kept us notified of all progress and details. All of his sub-contractors were extremely professional and worked very efficiently (some complex tasks like relocating two AC units also had to be done). The entire project was accomplished on schedule, even when we made some modifications half-way through by deciding not to include a railing. Mike re-ordered all the permits and took care of all the paperwork. Not insignificantly, Mike is a trained Architect, which gives him an excellent feel for what is achievable both stylistically and structurally. He was great to work with throughout the entire design and build process, and personally on-site almost the entire time. Also just a very pleasant guy to deal with. Our only reservation in recommending him is that he will become too busy when we need him for future projects!

MJH was the most highly professional construction company that I have dealt with and my wife and I have had 3 houses built over the years. Mike and his crew were meticulous in every detail of their work and the ability and quality of their work was extraordinarily good. I would highly recommend them for any construction or renovation project.

We recently hired MJH Construction for an extensive kitchen remodel. Overall, the finished project exceeded our expectations. Our dream kitchen was finished well within the deadline with high quality workmanship. Mike presented a very detailed proposal to us before we signed a contract that eliminated any concerns there would be surprise or hidden costs. Hire him!

Mike provided the design, craftsmanship, and supervision for the renovation of my house during the past 10 years. Careful with detail, sensitive to this 100 year old house, and considerate of budget, he did as he said and more and In a timely fashion. In all areas he exceeded expectations. More ahead... I have enthusiastically recommended him to others.

Mike and his team were absolutely wonderful! They did a beautiful job on our house renovation (converting a garage to family room and building a new garage) and were always polite, efficient, and thorough in their work. Their costs were reasonable and they provided excellent service. I would give them the strongest possible recommendation!

From the first time we met Mike, we were very impressed. He is professional, prompt, honest, trustworthy, and thorough. His proposal was concise and very detailed. All of the employees at MJH Construction are incredibly professional and very skilled. We have never had to have any work redone. We will most certainly use MJH Construction again in the future as well as recommend them to any one who needs a general contractor.
