PLAN A

Having completed a full home renovation, we often get asked if we would we ever do it again, and our response is always, “only if we could work with Plan A again!” From the initial meeting all the way through to the follow-ups after we had moved back in, Plan A was responsive, professional, and extremely detail oriented. They consistently did what they said they would do, when they said they were going to do it. As trivial as that sounds, it provided such peace of mind that our home was well cared for from day one. Tony’s professionalism, vast experience and confidence immediately made us feel like we were in good hands. He was the only contractor we met with that spent 90 minutes with us to walk us through a very detailed and realistic quote. He went above and beyond before the project even began: he took steps to understand what was behind our walls (in our 145 year old home), worked with our structural engineer to clearly understand requirements and met with our neighbours (with whom we share a wall) to ensure they understood what was being worked on. We had an incredible, dedicated team that were on site for the duration of the project. Marshall and Anthony were very patient with our questions and concerns, explaining everything we needed to know in order to make informed decisions. They came up with suggestions along the way that made a big difference in the functionality and aesthetic of the final design. Their extreme attention to detail was evident all the way down to how clean they left the project site at the end of every day. The sub trades were no different and were a pleasure to work with – in particular the tiler, who took the time to meet with us on each relevant area of the house before work began. Any minor issues or questions we’ve had since moving in have been very quickly addressed by Tony and his team. We do miss seeing the team every day, but as we enjoy our new home, we look back fondly at our time spent with Plan A and we are so very thankful that we found them. We highly recommend Plan A and hope to work with them again someday!

We stumbled upon Plan A as a recommendation from our designer and are so happy we did. As a company that works in the west end extensively, Plan A were familiar with our type of home and the challenges that it could bring (and believe us, there were many). Plan A was able to keep us on time and on budget, even during a pandemic. They continually navigated through the difficulties a 120+ year home brought with it and were able to pivot on options to help keep us within our firm budget, while never compromising quality or craftsmanship. The entire team was a dream to work with, including all of the sub-trades that were brought in to do work. It is unmistakable that Plan A has pride in the work they do and have a passion for making your dream home a reality. While we can honestly say that we are sad to say goodbye to the Plan A team, especially Marshsall and Anthony, we are looking forward to enjoying our fabulous and well-built home for years to come.

Plan A did an incredible job on our Roncesvalles renovation project. They completed a full redesign, gut, and remodel of our 3,000 sq ft home, including building a two-storey addition at the back of the house. The quality of the work that Plan A did on our project was second to none. The open concept plan that they designed is well-thought out and functional. We were blown away by the quality of the work throughout the project, and they employed excellent trades. The plumbing, electrical and HVAC work was extensive and it was done with precision. It was clear that Plan A had worked with these trades plenty of times in the past and had built a great rapport. The tile work that was done in our four bathrooms is extremely impressive. They did a particularly great job installing the trim throughout the house (including recommending the design) and installed gorgeous finish-in-place hardwood floors. They also did an excellent job finishing our basement. Marshall, our project manager, was very collaborative and worked well with our interior designer with whom Plan A had not worked previously. In fact, our designer recommended Plan A to her clients for her next project. Plan A was proactive, coming to us with ideas on how we could make our home even more functional and unique to our needs. They provided a full service renovation experience, which resulted in the end product truly feeling like a custom home designed specifically for our family. We would highly recommend Plan A!

It was a real pleasure working with Tony, Matt and their crew. Our extensive reno project was handled very professionally. The Plan A group brings a wealth of experience and creativity to their work, and were able to minimize the stress involved in what for us seemed a very daunting project. The work was completed with extremely high standards of workmanship and attention to detail.

We hired Plan A and Tony to do a full gut and renovation of our 2.5 story house. The project included gutting the main floor and second floor as well as a two story rear addition. It was (what we would consider) a massive project that took approximately 8 months to complete. We picked Plan A and Tony based on recommendations we received from others in the neighborhood. We were not disappointed in the slightest. We started off with many detailed discussions about the scope of the project before putting it to writing in a contract. Marshall was assigned to be the foreman for our project and was our daily go-to for everything we needed (although Tony was always accessible and available as well). We could not have been more thrilled to have Marshall supervising the project. The project was well organized and was always progressing forward at a good pace. We were constantly kept informed of progress and any issues that unexpectedly arose, along with being given various options and recommendations on a path forward. The quality of the workmanship was outstanding. On top of that, everything came in on time and on budget. No surprises. It was very important to us that our project be completed properly and on budget as it was a major investment for us that we saved for many years to complete. It is such a relief to know that no corners were cut and there were no surprises or horror stories to report. Best of all, Tony and Marshall have made it abundantly clear that they stand behind their work 100% and are always just a phone call away to come and attend to any issues that might arise as our newly renovated house "settles" into place. Knowing that they are there to stand by their work, even after the project has been completed, is an additional sense of relief that is truly welcomed!

We approached Plan A based on reviews from a number of friends in the neighborhood who had hired them previously and been very pleased with the result. Tony has a well deserved reputation in the area for doing excellent work transforming older homes. He and his crew were responsive and professional to deal with. We were given a detailed proposal prior to start of work and everything was explained to us. The site foremen Matt was a pleasure to deal with. I was by the site regularly and never made to feel as though I was getting in the way or asking dumb questions. When we made changes as the job progressed, we received detailed estimates and at the end there were no overruns or unexpected costs. If we asked for things that didn't fit or make sense the team worked with us to explain why and to come up with alternatives that we'd be happy with. We love the house. We are very happy with everything we had done and the fit and finish is excellent. And I have the greatest kitchen in the world. We highly recommend Plan A and would use them again.

Short Summary: They care about delivering quality projects on time and on budget. Their results are incredible. They're very responsive before, during and well after the project to answer questions and resolve issues. Your points of contact are the people doing the work, so answers are quick and easy to get. We originally found Plan A through Houzz and approached them about a major rebuild of a house we just purchased. Unlike other firms we talked to, they wouldn't provide an estimate until they analysed the house. While it took longer to get their quote, it ended up being far more precise (and less inflated) than their competition. Trust the process. Unlike another firm we were talking to, it didn't feel we were working with a sales person looking to charge as much as we could afford. Instead Tony felt like a partner planning a collaborative project with a quote based on what the project actually cost. He was far more knowledgeable about the work and what was possible than anyone else quoting on the project. We did a full gut and rebuild of two floors in the house, along with all new electrical and mechanical systems throughout the house. Our project manager, Marshall, was excellent. He knew everything that was happening, was always available and clearly took great pride in the work they were doing. Just look at the photos of our master bathroom! We really appreciated their attention to detail on the structural elements, and the finishes. We couldn't be happier with the end result. They found many surprises in the home and were very good about communicating issues and presenting options. We definitely didn't feel like they were trying to find excuses to upsell or overcharge us. They would have come in on time and on budget except for a few decisions we'd made (eg. tile shipment delays).

Great company with a great crew that cares enough about their clients to do a renovation the right way. No corners cut. Beautiful finishings. They did a complete renovation of the main floor of our 110 year old home with a new kitchen, powder room and downstairs, including downstairs bathroom. Plan A is a very well known, highly respected and recommended company in the High Park area of Toronto, an area with expensive $1.5M to $2.5M homes. They do renovations both large and small.

Plan A Contracting were highly recommended by friends - we contacted Plan A to fully renovate the ground floor and unfinished basement of our home. Tony and his team were fantastic to work with. They were responsive and easy to communicate with and we are thrilled with the final product (see photos). I would not hesitate to use Plan A Contracting again in future.

My husband and I are so please with the work of Plan A. They are a great company to work with and are brilliant designers as well. They created a bright, brilliant space out of dank, dark basement for us and while I've done a few renovations on this old house I have never had an “excellent experience” like this. My friend recommended Plan A after also having an “excellent experience” with the massive renovation done to her house. I’m happy to say that from here on in, I would only use Plan A for any renovation project. I have experienced the reliability, the excellent advice, and the quality of the finished product when using true professionals. Tony returns calls, his crews show up when they say they will and they do outstanding work. I’m so happy we went with Plan A. I really felt that they weren’t happy unless the work was perfect and it’s hard to get someone who genuinely cares like that in Toronto.

We could not recommend Plan A more highly! They did a fabulous job at completely transforming our Roncesvalles home to meet the evolving needs of our growing family of six. Tony and Marshall seemed to take the care and attention on our house as if it was their own and their pride in their work is always obvious. And finally, despite some very challenging and significant weather delays to start the project, they managed to complete our project on time and without compromise, minimizing any impact on our family. We have had the pleasure of working with Tony on the renovation of our house. It was a complete redo from top to bottom and Tony came highly recommended to us. We are in a position to now, in turn, highly recommend Tony without any reservation for the fabulous work he has done for us.
