About Us

Pokorn Construction specializes in high quality residential construction, remodeling and woodworking. This ranges from new residential or small commercial projects to handyman duties for our most cherished clients. Christian Pokorn is a seasoned expert and resource in his field. His experience in vision and execution has helped him deliver exceptional service to a variety of clients. He cares about quality, rather than speed. Coming from a long line of woodworkers in his hometown of Graz, Austria, craftsmanship runs in Christian’s blood. He’d spent his summers working in his great-uncle’s sawmill, honing his love for woodworking. After that he expanded into fixing things around his family’s home. Ten years ago he got married to his wife, while on vacation in California and settled in Monterey. He brought his love of construction to some of the most beautiful houses in the world in Big Sur, Carmel, and Pebble Beach. In June of 2010, he and his wife and two children moved to New Orleans. His goal is to bring fine, quality homes to the greater New Orleans area. He feels fortunate to be realizing his dream of owning his own construction company and do something he loves every day.

We had a really great experience with Pokorn Construction. We did a complete gut and remodel of the kitchen as well as some work in our living area. From start to finish Christian and his crew were professional with all aspects of the job. From the clear and concise contract, to the money saving suggestions, to a full explanation of the cost and need for any change orders, we felt fully informed throughout the process. The job was scheduled to take two months and hit its deadline. The crew kept the worksite as neat as possible. Finally, the quality of the work and the reaction from those seeing the finished project have been the best part of the process. Would definitely recommend them for your project.

Pokorn hired on referral by real estate agent. Work included interior painting, spray foam insulation (per his recommendation), ceiling light fixtures required conversion to use LEDs (per his professional opinion), and TV mounting. Work quality was poor. He did not supervise crew. Crew damaged things in home and did not take responsibility. Ceiling lights, which did not even require change, were caulked to ceiling. So could not be changed. Different type fixtures applied in same room. They were shabbily stuck to ceiling. Attic Insulation inadequately applied. TV not appropriately mounted: nearly fell. Mounting hardware almost struck circuit breakers directly behind. Mr. Pokorn did not address my concerns. He smiled pleasantly, but ignored, refused to acknowledge poor work product.

Christian and his team provide quality work with positive, professional attitudes and genuine thoughtfulness. These guys are smart and well mannered. Pokorn construction completed a bathroom gut/remodel, as well as some sheetrock and woodwork in other areas of our home. They worked around me and my newborn baby being in the house, as well as my huge dog. They care about the end product and will not quit until you say you are satisfied. I will not use anyone else for projects large or small.

I have hired Pokorn Construction for a number of jobs, some large & some small. I have always been pleased with the results. Often, results far exceeded expectations. The work was always done with in the time and budget presented. In fact, the one time i had to follow up on something to be fixed, it was taken care of immediately without delay or any extra charge. Would recommend to anyone in the area looking for honest, reliable and consistent work.

I discovered Pokorn through a LivingSocial voucher I purchased. I could not be happier with their services. I had them perform some electrical work on my home. The owner came to do the assessment and give me an estimate. The electrician was on time for the appointment and completed everything I needed in less time than estimated. So he did a few other things for me since I had already paid for a specific amount of time! They were all very professional, on-time and friendly. Whether you're looking to build a new structure, remodel one or need some "honey-do's" done around the house, I highly recommend Pokorn Construction.

They offered a groupon for 2 hours of service and I took advantage of the deal and had them install my parents window shutters. They did such a good job and will definitely hire them for additional work.
